Bulls Drop Eagles in First MAC Game
Poor 3rd Down performance dooms American

Buffalo bookended two terrible quarters with two outstanding quarters at Obama Field in American's first ever MAC game. It seemed as if American was in Buffalo territory for most of the game, but was unable to put much offense up against the porous Bull defense.

At times the Buffalo defense shined, scoring two touchdowns off turnovers in the second half to help put away the Eagles. Junior strong safety Davonte Shannon had an interception return for a touchdown in the final minute, and an 83 yard fumble return for a touchdown early in the fourth quarter to lead the Bull defense. Shannon was responsible for all three turnovers by the Bulls.

"Once again we lost the turnover battle, same result." said an irrate Peter Moore. Moore has seen the flawless play of their first game against Utah State slip into mistake filled football the last two weeks against Penn State and now Buffalo.

One of the lone bright notes for American was Tim Pino, who carries the ball 23 times for 102 yards and a touchdown. Sheldon Tillman played much better than his 16 of 35 for 212 yards with an interception would show, as the American receivers were credited with 7 drops, 4 of which went to Corey Foster, who dropped a pass in the end zone with 8 seconds to play in the game.

American Picks up First MAC Win in Barn Burner
Leading rusher Pino lost with Abdominal Tear

Fresh off their upset victory against Michigan, Eastern Michigan was looking to stay hot against first year program American. However, AU had other plans for the battle of the Eagles, in what would be a back-and-forth showdown.

Eastern Michigan got the scoring started on a 48 yard touchdown pass on a 4th and 2 early in the first quarter, catching the American secondary napping. American would drive back down the field and put a field goal up on the board, a common theme so far this season for the Eagles.

The second quarter started much of the same way, as American drove deep into Eastern Michigan territory on the back of Tim Pino to see the drive stall and have to settle for another chip shot field goal.

American, however, would lose Tim Pino midway through the second quarter. Pino was slow to get up, and walked over to the sidelines holding his stomach. Xrays after the game showed a slight abdominal tear, which could sideline him for 2-3 weeks.

From that point on Freshman running back Josh Simon would handle the load. With just 11 yards in the previous three games, Simon pounded out 95 yards on 17 carries with three touchdowns to pace the American offense.

The weirdest moment of the game occured at the beginning of the second half, when American went in to take a 26-21 lead over EMU. Going for two, Stephen Tillman was picked off by EMU sophomore cornerback Eric Morrison who returned it 108 yards for two points, making the score 26-23. It was all American after that, putting up 20 in the frame, and holding on to withstand two late touchdowns by Eastern Michigan to pick up their first MAC win.

"Feels good to get a W in the conference, that's for sure" said Moore, "We stuck with them, we gave up a lot of yards defensively, but our offense move the ball at will too."

Eagles Dominate Cardinals Offense
AU scores 38 of final 48 to stop Ball State

After beating Eastern Michigan last week, American looked to make it two straight for the first time in program history as the Cardinals of Ball State came to Washington DC with different thoughts on their mind.

The first half was closing and American had the ball, leading 17-7 with :08 to play in the half. That's when Steven Tillman hit Jonathan Gallagher for a 45 yard touchdown to put the game out of reach. Gallagher lept up and took the ball away from Cardinals cornerback Jakeem Gregory at the 15, and beat him in a foot race to the end zone.

Zach Parrish would duplicate nearly the same exact score on the Eagles first drive of the second half on Gregory, who was pulled after that score. Ball State would score the final 10 points of the game, but the number 5 offense was stymied all evening by the middle-of-the-road AU defense.

"We knew we needed a big effort tonight on the defensive side of the ball, and we got it." Moore was quoted as saying, "Every game that we haven't lost the turnover battle we've won. Every game we've lost it, we've lost. What does that go to show you?"

American dominated the ball, nearly owning possession for twice as long as Ball State, who was never really able to get anything going on offense. Quarterback Kelly Page was just 8 of 26 for 136 yards with 2 touchdowns and an interception.

Re: American Eagles: Football Bound (NCAA10)

Thanks man, I've been keeping an eye on yours too. I could have played more games today, but I figured I'd try and go slowly so A) I don't get burned out, and 2) people can keep up
