Week 9 Game of the Week Preview: Dallas @ Philadelphia

Dallas, Philadelphia to fight over NFC East lead
NFL News

The NFC East is about to heat up.

The Dallas Cowboys, holding a slim 1/2-game lead in the NFC East, travels to take on division rival Philadelphia in a highly-anticipated Sunday Night Football matchup. The Eagles have appeared in the Game of the Week segment twice this season, with a victory over Chicago and an overtime tie against the Jets. This will be the first of possibly more appearances for the Cowboys.

Fans, coaches and experts alike are expecting a very intense battle, considering the winner gets the top spot in the East. If the Cowboys win, they could extend their lead to 1.5 games, while the Eagles could re-claim the spot they held earlier.

The Eagles are playing at home, but are coming off an ugly 20-17 road loss to Minnesota. Dallas is fresh off their bye week and look hungry to show Philadephia who's "boss" in the East. I think Dallas will win a slobberknocker.

Dallas Ratings Philadelphia
87 ---Overall--- 90
88 ---Offense--- 90
87 ---Defense--- 89
86 ---Special Teams--- 90

Dallas Team Stats (NFL Rank) Philadelphia
20.0 (t-16th) ---Points Per Game--- 21.4 (12th)

1,059 (25th) ---Pass Offense--- 1,465 (4th)

1,261 (20th) ---Pass Defense--- 1,120 (7th)
-5 (t-27th) ---Turnover Diff.--- -5 (t-27th)

Prediction: Dallas 27, Philadelphia 21

Unfortunately, any FCS players that have gotten drafted (i.e. Flacco, Rodgers-Cromartie, Tim Hightower, etc.) will not be in this sim. It will be hopefully be as realistic as possible excluding those guys. Granted, there aren't many FCS players that have gotten drafted the past few years.

thanks for following tho!

11/4 8:15 pm --- Week 9 Game of the Week: Dallas @ Philadelphia

Philadelphia wins ugly game to take lead in NFC East
NFL News

Just because you win doesn't mean it has to be pretty.

The Philadelphia Eagles jumped out to a 15-3 halftime lead and held on for an ugly 21-9 home victory over the Dallas Cowboys, boosting them to the NFC East lead. The Eagles played just good enough on offense and made the Cowboys look foolish with a strong defensive effort to pick up an important win.

Kicker David Akers nailed 3 field goals and QB Donovan McNabb scored on a 3-yard scramble to help the Eagles take a 15-3 lead into the break. The 3rd quarter was scoreless for both teams, but Dallas began to threaten in the final frame.

The Cowboys got 2 field goals to cut the lead to 15-9, but the Eagles put the game away late. With only 2:21 left, McNabb dumped off to RB Brian Westbrook for a 1-yard TD pass to clinch the win.

McNabb struggled throwing the ball but still accounted for both Eagle TDs. McNabb only threw for 205 yards on 13-of-30 passing, and got picked off once. He also added 25 yards rushing. Westbrook paced the running game with 101 yards.

The Dallas offense was terrible, amassing only 222 total yards. QB Tony Romo looked rattled, throwing 3 interceptions. RB Julius Jones added 113 yards rushing for the only bright spot.

The game featured 6 turnovers, 11 sacks and 17 penalties combined.
