SUPER BOWL 44 PREVIEW

In a rematch of 1975's Super Bowl IX, the Minnesota Vikings will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XVIV. The match-up will be Brett Favre making his last stand with NFL rushing leader Adrian Peterson as they take on 2-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger and his incredible defense as they look for back to back championships.

In this preview we will break down each teams primary areas and tell you who has the advantage in each category. So let's get started.

Quarterback
Ben Roethlisberger is a 2 time champion, and he's won both of 'em in the past 5 years. But Brett Favre is a man on a mission, and he's done everything he's came back to do this ear, what;s to stop him from finishing?
ADVANTAGE:

Running Back
There isn't even a question here. Adrian Peterson is one of the greatest runningbacks in a long, long time.
ADVANTAGE:

Wide Receivers
The Vikings receivers may be young and fast with young star Sidney Rice, but the Steelers have a great ve in Hines Wards and last years Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes
ADVANTAGE

Tight End
Favre has made Vicente Shiancoe look real good all year, but Heath Miller is a Pro Bowler and has been doing it for a couple of years now.
ADVANTAGE

Offensive Line
The Vikings have one of the best offensive lines in the league. These big boys have been doing it for a long time and get a nice chuck of credit for Adrian Peterson's success.
ADVANTAGE:

Defensive Line
The Steelers have one of the best defenses anyone has seen in a long time, but the Vikings have them in one catagory. Even without Jared Allen playing, the presence of Kevin William and Pat Williams would be enough to scare any offense.
ADVANTAGE:

Linebackers
Here's where this gets a little lobsided. The Steelers linebacking corps have been Hall of Fame worthy. The kind of group you'll see in NFL Films highlight reels for years to come. LaMar Woodley leads this feroucious group and doesn't look tro back down this sunday.
ADVANTAGE

Secondary
Now the Steelers have their stoic linebackers, but they also have another ace in the hole. Troy Polamalu. This Pro Bowler has done it year in and year out, and if it wasn't bad enough for the Vikings, they have Pro Bowler Ryan Clark on the other side to help him out. A no brainer here.
ADVANTAGE

Prediction

Overall it looks like the Vikings have a great offense with Favre and Peterson, but defense wins championships, and that's what the Steelers have. This game should be an all time great and will be fun to watch this high-powered offense take on an All-Pro defense
ADVANTAGE

FINAL SCORE

24

20

SUPER BOWL XLIV

STEELERS GO BACK-2-BACK; CRUSH VIKINGS

Steelers: 40
Vikings: 14

MIAMI, FL- The Steelers have done it! Back to back championships! And they did it in a most convincing fashion. The Steelers defense proved once again why they are one of the best that may ever be seen. They did it by dominating the Vikings defensively, and capitalizing on their mistakes. When the Steelers go the ball, they made sure they put point on the board.

The key to the game was stopping Adrian Peterson, and the Steelers did just that. Every run was getting stuffed with excellent penetration by the Steelers. Peterson couldn't buy a broken tackle as the Vikings went 3 and out on almost every drive. Favre was uncomfortable in the pocket, getting rushed by the Steelers every chance they could get. Without Peterson running effectivly, Farve had no choice but to make bad throws. This was proven when Favre threw a redzone INT with less than a minute to go in the half. Even a field goal would've made the game close.

The Vikings defense, on the other hand, looked crippled without Jared Allen. Roethlisberger was getting insane amounts of time in the pocket. We're talk 5+ seconds of him looking for open receivers. Needless to say Big Ben picked apart the Vikings secondary with huge gain after huge gain. Ben moved the safties around with his eyes allowing his recievers to easily get passed the final line of defense.

The game was sealed when Favre was looking to make a late game comeback, but was picked off by Brett Keisel for a TD when being hit. At that point the Vkings were down by 2 TD, but after that, the game was all but over.

After the game many of the Steelers spoke at the podium. "Oh, man I tell ya what, we knew we could do this from week 1, we stuck to the traditional Steeler ways, and we proved it right." Said a very emotional Mike Tomlin. "I got 3 rings now, and there's only 1 thing I'm focused on. Ring number 4. YEEEEEEEAH!!!" Said Ben Roethlisberger while hoisting the trophy.

Well it's been a long year. We've had our ups and downs, and all arounds. But a champion was crowned and now it's time to look forward to 2010.

Around The NFL: Off-season Update 1

Andy Reid fired; Jim Johnson named head coach:

In a stunning turn of event, long tenured head coach Andy Reid has been fired after missing the playoffs this year. The Eagles fans have always been annoyed that they've never won a Super Bowl, and now they get their wish. Will the fans regret receiving their wish? Will this spell the end of McNabb in Philly? We'll find out.

Norv Turner fired in San Diego:

In a less than shocking turn events, Norv Turner has been fired as head coach of the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers missed the playoffs this year as they collapsed down the stretch. Thee team has been declining ever since Norv became coach, so it's no surprise to see him go. The team did not name anyone has head coach, but early favorites are defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, and recently dispatched coach Andy Reid.

Denver Broncos Off-season Update 1

Tony Scheffler traded to Cardinals-

In sort of a surprise move, young back-up TE Tony Scheffler has been traded to the Cardinals for a 4th round pick in the upcoming draft, and HB LaRod Stephens-Howling. The Broncos also threw in a 7th rounder to even the deal up. The Broncos announced that this deal was strictly finnancial as Scheffler was blocked by Daniel Graham, who is signed for 2 more seasons. Scheffler will most likely take on the starting TE role in Arizona.

Broncos fire defensive coordinator Mike Nolan; Offensive coordinator contract expires

This move was seen coming for a while as Mike Nolan managed to turn the Broncos defense into one of the worst in the league last year. Also, the Broncos cut ties with offensive coordinator Mike McCoy as his contract ran out. Managment said it wasn't for poor coaching, but more of the team moving in a new direction. It is unknown who the Broncos are looking at for coordinators at this point.
