Madden 2010 SIMULATION

I'm starting a new franchise thread where I will be simming the 2009 season on madden or maybe multiple seasons if it does well.
Here are a couple of things I would like to let you know
1. I do not have any control of any team it is all the computer
2. I will be asking for peoples opinion on things like awards and free agent pick ups ect.
3. I will not be using an updated roster it is the original so no Brett Favre or Michael Vick and names like Plaxico Burress will be free agents
4. I will be importing NCAA 10 draft classes during the offseason

Hope you enjoy

Top 3 Free Agents

As preseason football is just about ready to start teams are looking to make some last minute pick ups in free agency whether they couldn't afford to re-signthe pro-bowl offensice guard they are killing themselves over for not coming to his need or should we say wants. So for whatever the reason we will be following the top three players from free agency from now until signing day.

1). WR Plaxico Burress 6'5" 232 lbs Age:32

Burress is an eight-year pro who has racked up over 500 receptions, 7,800 yards, and 55 touchdowns. He was the 8th overall pick in the 2000 Draft where he became an instant success in the NFL going over 1,000 yards in just his second season. After disappointments in the playoffs with the Steelers he finally left and signed with the Giants in 2005 to a 6 year deal worth $25M, from there he led the Giants to a Superbowl win in 2008. Obviously his struggles aren't on the field but off as he has had many legal issues through out his career which is why the Giants released him in late 2009. Burress is a target for many teams in the NFL, he could play as the number one or number two reciever if he goes to a team with names like Randy Moss or Terrelle Owens. While many are interested it will be interesting to see who is willing to deal with the controversey and put the pen to paper.

2). CB Chris McAlister 6'1" 206 lbs. Age: 32

Was a first round pick in the 1999 Draft where he went 10th overall. He too had immediate success his rookie season with 47 tackles and 5 interceptions. His next season he had another great performance having a key interception in the Superbowl. Chris is a sure tackler with over 300 tackles in 9 years along with great coverage skills (26 interceptions) he is a veteran and a leader and could help out a struggling any team struggling or lacking in the secondary. There are some negatives like he will be turning 32 this June and he hasn't had as much success late in his career. He could step up and be around another 5 years and shutdown some of the biggest names in the NFL but who is willing to take the risk because McAlister won't come cheap.

3). K John Carney 5'11" 185 lbs. Age: 45

A former undrafted player who has been up and down his whole 20 year career. One year he has a pro-bowl season and the next he will get cut in the preseason. Carney does best when his job is on the line so it wouldn't be bad if he has some competition. He could be a pro-bowler or a bust but either way he won't be in the NFL much longer and he has missed some key clutch kicks (who hasn't). Who ever picks him up is a gambler head you win tails you lose if you like those odds you should go with the old man who was also a Giant during the 2008 season. Where he went 35-38 (2 blocks). And maybe he could lead your franchise to a superbowl too, and who wouldn't want that.

Chicagos New and Improved Offense

Chicago is known for having a big, strong, and dominating defense in recent years with names like Urlacher, Harris, Briggs, and Tillman. Recently though the Bears have worked on building a strong offense too to get them back into the Superbowl. This change started when tehy picked up rookie runningback Matt Forte in the 2009 Draft after they lost Thomas Jones and "the future" Cedric Benson was cut for legal issues off the field and performance issues on the field. Forte burst on the scene leading in rushing and receptions leading his team to a 9-7 record. He had over 250 carries and 900 yards with 4 TDs and over 50 receptions for 400 yards. Coach Smtih and the staff spent the offseason to help with the passing game picking up Jay Cutler from the Broncos and Jaquan Iglesias in the 2009 Draft.

Marvin is coming to town!
They didn't stop there though as one of the biggest headlines this preseason was the possibility of Marvin Harrison coming out of retirement and indeed he did. Once he did he went straight back to the Colts but like Brett Favre he was rejected from his former team as Caldwell wanted to work on the younger recievers and start building for the future. Teams started to pounce on the idea of having the future H.O.F. reciever on their team. None more exceted than the Bears who just got their franchise quarterback but don't have any recievers for him to go to like Drew Brees does with Colston or Peyton Manning has with Wayne or Tony Romo has with Witten. Now after the Bears came to terms with the 13 year veteran fans are thinking of the possibility Jay Cutler to Harrison. Even though 35 year old won't be around another 10 years heck they would be lucky to get 2 seasons out of him but he could be used as a mentor for the younger recievers like Devin Hester, and Jaquan Iglesias. Maybe with Marvin here we can see a smile on Cutlers face after he feels betrayed by his old team.

Re: Madden 2010 SIMULATION

Alot of people read, but don't comment unless something remarkable happens. Keep plugging away, keep the thread at the top of the board, believe me people are reading.

LIke right now you already have 60 views, which means on 60 different occasions someone opened the thread to see what was going on. Keep going, looks like you've got a good base!
