Re: Re-Commitment to Excellence: An Oakland Raiders Franchise

Post Game Press Conference

CH: Wow that one was close. Almost gave me a heart attack. Questions?
R: How can you explain this teams amazing turn around from last year?
CH: Well its not a turn around until we make the playoffs or at least get a winning record, but I think the guys just needed some direction. There is plenty of talent here and they just needed someone to help them put it all together. And having David [Carr] play the way he is playing won't hurt either.

R: Your defense showed up in a big way today. What was the game plan this week?

CH: We really wanted to come in here and control the line of scrimmage. We know that if we hit Kyle [Orton] then he's not gonna hurt us. So we just needed to get the pressure in his face. He did get the 2 scores on us, but we held him to under 200 yards I believe and thats a win for us.

R: The offense is so much better this year its unbelievable. Would you attribute that to better playcalling or what?

CH: I think its just the players playing better. That simple. I mean last year I believe the team had under 10 passing TD's the whole year. You can't be a winning team with that. Also we have had great success converting on 3rd down.

R: Thanks Coach.

Re: Re-Commitment to Excellence: An Oakland Raiders Franchise

Post Game Press Conference

CH: Sloppy, sloppy game. Questions?

R: You don't seem to be to happy even though you won the game. Why is this?
CH: We did not deserve to win the game today. We got very lucky again. We played sloppy on offense, especially the line. I think we allowed 6 sacks if I'm not mistaken.
R: Higgins and Kidd never returned to the game, do you know the extent of their injuries yet?
CH: Its not good. Higgins looks like he has torn his hamstring so he'll be out at least 6 weeks. Kidd tweaked his knee and the trainer said it could be a torn ACL, but we'll see.

R: Are you going to sign anyone to fill the void?

CH: We have to. We can't play with 3 receivers. Not with the type of offense we run.

R: Well I'll let you go coach before you explode.

Kidd Has Partially Torn ACL, Raiders Sign Duhon

We have just been informed that Raiders WR J. Kidd has a partially torn ACL. He will not be place on IR because the Raiders staff believes he will be back just before the playoffs if everything goes as planned.

When the Raiders learned of this news they went out and signed Tyrus Duhon, a rookie out of Florida. Duhon was a standout in college on the field, but could never seem to stay out of trouble. He was supposed to be a first round pick, but trouble with discipline made him go undrafted.

The Raiders gave another troubled athlete, A. Augustine, a chance and he is playing very well for the Raiders. They hope they will get the same results from Duhon.

Coach Heimerdinger also said he is considering moving C. Schilens to the slot because of his poor performance this season. He said it all depends upon how well this new kid can step in and perform. We'll just have to see.

Post Game Press Conference

CH: I will not be taking any questions. I just want to say that this was the most embarrassing game I have ever been a part of. We're going to go back to work and we are going to fix what is wrong. Our offensive line has been struggling horribly and David [Carr] just can't seem to get in a rhythm. I would like to apologize to all the Raider fans out there.
