Re: Hit That Line Hard: An Iowa State Cyclone Dynasty (NCAA Football 11)
@ Game Recap 1st Quarter: The EMU Eagles have not won a game the last two season, and start this one 0-1. I don't see them getting their first win today. Iowa State won the toss, but struggled to get a drive going and had to punt. On EMUs first play, Alex Gillett threw a pick to Matt Tau'Fo'Ou that was returned all the way for a 22 yard touchdown. 7-0 Cyclones. EMU would actually piece together a drive the next time out, but stalled inside the 10 and were forced to a 27 yard field goal by Thomas Baertchi to make it 7-3. Iowa State would get a drive going, but Jerome Tiller would sprain an elbow on the drive and would have to sit the rest of the game. Their drive stalled at the EMU 34, and Grant Mahoney would kick a 51 yard field goal. 10-3 Cyclones. EMU would fumble the kick return and Iowa State would take over at the EMU 19. ISU would have a 3rd and 9 at the EMU 18 to end the quarter. 2nd Quarter: After converting the first down, James Capello would complete a 5 yard touchdown pass to Darius Darks, 17-3 Cyclones. EMU would get one first down before being stopped and having to punt away. The Cyclones would put a great drive together, as Capello would hook up with Josh Lentz for a 14 yard strike in the endzone, and the Cyclones would take a 24-3 lead. EMU would be forced to punt after a three and out. ISU would be stalled in EMU territory, and punt it and down it at their one yardline. EMU would get out of the bad situation and run the half out, making it 24-3 at halftime. 3rd Quarter: EMU would go on a nice solid drive, but after a holding penalty to make it 1st and goal at the 19, Gillett would be sacked and lose the ball, and Jake McDonough would pick it up and take it 73 yards for the score, 31-3 Cyclones. Look at the big boy run! EMU would go three and out the next possession, and Iowa State would march right down the field, capping the drive with a Capello 21 yard touchdown pass to Josh Lentz. 38-3 Cyclones. Not gonna catch him! EMU would be driving in ISU territory when the quarter concluded. 4th Quarter: EMU would drive inside the ISU 10 again, but would be stopped on 4th down with a sack by Patrick Neal at the 16. ISU would fumble on the first play, and EMU would recover at the 21. EMU would still fail to get it in the endzone, and after a sack on 3rd down this time EMU would kick the 33 yard field goal with Baertchi. Patrick Neal is back! 38-6. Iowa State would recover an onside kick, despite being caught offguard with it. On 3rd and 11, Capello would complete his 4th TD pass, this one to Darius Reynolds for 36 yards. 45-6. The Cyclones would get the ball back and run the clock out to start the year 3-0. NCAA Scoreboard - Iowa State Cyclones (2-0) at Eastern Michigan Eagles (0-1)
Post-Game Press Conference with Paul Rhoads: "Capello really played well today, and it's good to see that if Tiller gets hurt we have a backup with a solid arm. Tiller is in no danger of losing his spot as a starter though, as his legs really provide the offense with a spark, and that's just something that Capello doesn't bring to the table, but he may have just earned some possible playing time in the future with this performance." |

Sims, Tackle/Boone, IA Preview: Florida State (1-2) at #18 Iowa State (3-0) This matchup had a lot more promise at the beginning of the year, but Florida State has dropped two straight, and it's looking like Iowa State might be starting 4-0 before heading on in to conference play. FSU still has some talent, though, and their offense gains a lot of yards, especially through the air. Iowa State may have to match them point for point, as FSU's defense so far has been something to forget. ****Standings, Top 25, and Heisman Watch can be viewed on the 2nd post of the front page**** Last edited by Clonefan84; 07-24-2010 at 06:12 PM. |

Re: Hit That Line Hard: An Iowa State Cyclone Dynasty (NCAA Football 11)
@ Game Recap 1st Quarter: Florida State would win the toss and take the ball. One first down is all they'd get, and they'd be forced to punt...but it was a fake, and it totally caught ISU offguard. Lonnie Pryor would take the fake punt 54 yards for the touchdown run, 7-0 FSU. ISU would take the next possession right down the field, but the drive would stall inside the FSU 10, and Grant Mahoney would boot through a 30 yard field goal, 7-3 FSU. FSU would get down to the ISU 9, where they would have it first and 10 as the quarter ends. 2nd Quarter: FSU would easily punch in the touchdown with a 2 yard pass from E.J. Manuel to Jarmon Fortson. 14-3 FSU. Darius Darks would make a huge play though, returning the kickoff all the way to the FSU 8. Jerome Tiller would take a 3rd and GL play in for an 8 yard touchdown run to put ISU back in it at 14-10 FSU. A hard-earned touchdown! ISU would hold FSU to a three and out thanks to two holding penalties, and get the ball back. Tiller would lose the ball after a 12 yard run though, and FSU would get the ball right back at their own 19. FSU would drive right down the field thanks to their running game, but would stall at the ISU 3, and settle for a 20 yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins to make it 17-10 FSU with 59 seconds left in the half. Iowa State would start to drive, but Tiller would fumble again on a run, and FSU would recover. FSU would try to get into field goal range before half, but Ter'ran Benton would pick a pass off and give ISU the ball back to run the half out and keep the score at 17-10 FSU. 3rd Quarter: Iowa State would drive down the field, and stall at the FSU 32, and grant Mahoney would miss the 50 yard field goal try. FSU would not get anywhere with their possession, and be forced to punt, which landed in the endzone for a touchback. ISU would drive the length of the field, and punch a touchdown in from the 3 yard line with Beau Blankenship, though he would be carried off on a stretcher after that play, but it's now tied 17-17. The injury turned out to only be back spasms and he'd be out for the game. The Cyclones would stop the Seminoles 3 and out, and a good punt return would start the Cyclones at the FSU 49. Iowa State would then get nothing on their possession, and would punt right back and it would go out of bounds at the FSU 6. The Seminoles would get out of trouble, and set themselves up with a 1st and 10 at their own 36 to start the fourth. 4th Quarter: FSU would make it to the Cyclones 32, but be stopped on 3rd down, and Dustin Hopkins would boot a 49 yard field goal off the upright and through to make it 20-17 FSU. FSU would stop the Cyclones to a three and out, and take the ball back with good field position, and march all the way down the field and get a 5 yard touchdown pass from Manuel to Chris Thompson, 27-17 FSU. Iowa State wouldn't give up though, as they drove down the field and Tiller threw a 17 yard touchdown pass to Donnie Jennert, 27-24 FSU with 2:55 to play. Oh yeah, I just caught my first career touchdown pass! ISU would kick deep, and try to stop FSU. The Seminoles would try to run the clock out, but Chris Thompson would fumble the football and Iowa State would get it at the FSU 33 with 1:30 left and all three timeouts still. Iowa State would get a first down, then get stopped and kick the tying field goal with 51 seconds to play. 27-27. FSU would get to the Iowa State 35, and try the 52 yard field goal with 3 seconds left. It would be NO GOOD!!! Overtime! Overtime: Iowa State would win the toss, and play some defense first. FSU would be stopped on three straight plays, and missed the 40 yard field goal attemt wide left!! Iowa State would start with a holding penalty, which would back them up to 1st and 20 at the 35. James White would pick up a 7 yard gain to make it 2nd and 13 at the 28. Then senior Bo Williams would take his first handoff of the season, and boy was it ever big! A 28 yard touchdown run to seal the deal! Cyclones win a thriller 33-27! First carry in two years, and he still got it! NCAA Scoreboard - Florida State Seminoles (1-2) at Iowa State Cyclones (3-0)
Post-Game Press Conference with Paul Rhoads: "Our team really had our hands full today, and with our backs against the wall, we really came out and played hard for the win! It was great to see those guys not give up and play to the end, and after a couple breaks, our team pulled out a great win. With Beau Blankenship struggling at the run position, I'm wondering about making some changes in that area. James White is a pretty fast guy and seems to fit in better with our spread offense. And after the run Bo Williams pulled off for us, I may have to start puttin him in once and a while too. What a great way to stay undefeated. It was overall a great game and it's one of those reasons I enjoy being a head coach!" Last edited by Clonefan84; 07-25-2010 at 05:24 AM. |

Week 4 Recap: Scores Big XII: #18 Iowa State 33, Florida State 27 (OT) Texas Tech 38, New Mexico 17 Kansas State 17, UL Lafayette 10 #6 Georgia Tech 21, Kansas 14 #14 Nebraska 34, Wyoming 10 Missouri 42, FCS East 0 #3 Oklahoma 49, FCS West 0 #11 Texas A&M 42, North Texas 12 Oklahoma State 46, Baylor 17 Other Top 25 Scores: #20 Michigan State 33, Florida Atlantic 10 #1 Alabama 27, Arkansas 21 Clemson 17, #23 Boston College 14 #10 Wisconsin 49, FCS West 7 ECU 17, #21 Virginia Tech 10 #5 Miami 62, USF 14 #12 West Virginia 34, LSU 21 #22 Oregon State 42, Arizona 31 #17 Auburn 25, Florida 17 #9 Washington 35, Arizona State 7 #16 Stanford 21, #7 USC 14 #24 TCU 36, BYU 3 UCLA 38, #13 Oregon 20 Recruiting: Current ISU commits: 3-Star Jeff Simpson, Guard/Carthage, MO 3-Star Isaac Hines, Quarterback/Sturgis, SD 3-Star T.J. Sims, Tackle/Boone, IA Preview: #17 Iowa State Cyclones (4-0) at #13 Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-0) Bitter hatred has built up the past couple years between these schools. Two years ago the Cyclones shocked Nebraska in Lincoln 9-7 without starting QB Austen Arnaud and HB Alexander Robinson. Last year the Cyclones did have them, but Nebraska pulled off the 31-24 upset in Ames and would ruin the chances of Iowa State going perfect for the year, in fact, it would be the Cyclones' only loss. This year, in Lincoln Memorial, these two will duke it out with much on the line right now. Both teams undefeated, and both wanting to go even farther this year with a shot at the national title. ****Standings, Top 25, and Heisman Watch are now updated and can be found on the 2nd post of the first page.**** Last edited by Clonefan84; 07-25-2010 at 05:59 AM. |

Re: Hit That Line Hard: An Iowa State Cyclone Dynasty (NCAA Football 11)
@ Game Recap 1st Quarter: Iowa State would win the toss and start with the ball, but after a first down, Blankenship fumbled and Nebraska recovered. They would not get far though, as a three and out forced a punt. Iowa State would replace Blankenship with James White and running back, and the Cyclones would drive right down the field and Tiller would connect with Darius Reynolds for a 14 yard touchdown pass, 7-0 Cyclones. Splitting the defenders! Nebraska would come back down the field and piece a drive together, but it stalled at the ISU 24 and Nebraska would settle for a field goal, 7-3 ISU. ISU would have the ball 2nd and 14 at their own 24 to end the quarter. 2nd Quarter: Iowa State would get out of their 2nd and 14 hole, and drive all the way to the Nebraska 7, but stall out there, kicking a 24 yard field goal and making it 10-3 Cyclones. A three and out would stop Nebraska in their tracks, and they would have to punt right back the the Cyclones. ISU couldn't move the ball either, and would be forced a three and out of their own, and punt it back to Nebraska with 2:01 to play in the half. After a clipping for the Cornhuskers, their tight end would fumble the ball and Earl Brooks would recover it at the Nebraska 26. On the Cyclone drive, Iowa State would use their running game to pick up the touchdown, the finisher being a Bo Williams 9 yard run. 17-3 Iowa State with 1:06 to play. We should've used you a lot more, Bo. That would be the score going into halftime. 3rd Quarter: Nebraska would get one first down on their first drive of the half, but Iowa State's defense stands strong again and forces the punt. Iowa State would march down the field, and Jerome Tiller would take off for a 25 yard touchdown run on the read option, 24-3 Cyclones. Nebraska would still not be able to move the ball, going three and out again and punting to the Cyclones. Nebraska would finally make something happen though as Jerome Tiller would fumble the 2nd play of the drive and Nebraska's P.J. Smith would pick it up and run 43 yards for the touchdown, 24-10 Cyclones. Iowa State would get a first down before being stopped to 4th down at their own 33 and would have to punt to begin the next quarter. 4th Quarter: Nebraska would be stuck with a 4th and 19 at the ISU 44 when Cody Green would hook up with Antonio Bell for a 44 yard touchdown strike to make it 24-17 Cyclones. Iowa State would be stopped three and out and have to punt right back to Nebraska. On the next drive, Rex Burkhead would fumble the ball and Leonard Johnson would pick it up and take it 47 yards to the house, giving the Cyclones a 31-17 lead with 2:49 to play. Nebraska, you can't have this! Nebraska would turn it over again, as Cody Green was hit as he threw and Matt Tau'Fo'Ou picked it off at the Nebraska 19. Iowa State would tack on a field goal to make it 34-17 with 2:04 to play. That would hold as the final as the Cyclones get their sweet revenge over Nebraska on their own home turf! NCAA Scoreboard - Iowa State Cyclones (4-0) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-0)
Post-Game Press Conference with Paul Rhoads: "I'm very impressed by our defensive performance today. There have been a couple of games this year where we've had to rely on our offense to keep us in the game, it's good to finally see our defense step up and win one for us, especially with the bod turnovers we had. When the defense wins us games it definitely makes it easier as a coach. We took the lead early on this team and never looked back. The 4th quarter made me a little nervous, but once again our defense came up with a big play, and Nebraska couldn't recover from it. I hope our defense plays this well against Oklahoma and Texas, because I believe that's how we're going to have to win those. At least, that's how we did last year." ****Iowa State has decided to relieve Beau Blankenship of his starting duties as he has failed to get it done since the 1st game of the season. James White will start now and Bo Williams will be the backup and will get a significant load as a backup.**** |

Re: Hit That Line Hard: An Iowa State Cyclone Dynasty (NCAA Football 11)
Week 5 Recap: Scores Big XII: #17 Iowa State 34, #13 Nebraska 17 Colorado 14, #3 Oklahoma 6 Baylor 50, FCS East 13 #25 Oklahoma State 45, Texas Tech 24 Missouri 31, Kansas 0 #2 Texas 42, Kansas State 7 #10 Texas A&M 37, Arkansas 16 Other Top 25 Scores: Rutgers 30, #11 West Virginia 3 #24 Ole Miss 30, Fresno State 24 #9 Wisconsin 20, Iowa 12 #16 Auburn 17, South Carolina 3 #14 USC 41, Arizona State 10 Washington State 24, #12 Stanford 14 #4 Boise State 38, Louisiana Tech 7 #20 Oregon State 28, UCLA 21 #23 Oregon 29, Cal 21 #15 Penn State 21, Illinois 9 #21 TCU 37, New Mexico 10 #5 Miami 28, Boston College 14 #6 Georgia Tech 17, NC State 13 #19 Michigan State 24, #7 Ohio State 17 (at the horseshoe!) #1 Alabama 47, Florida 7 Recruiting: Current ISU commits: 3-Star Jeff Simpson, Guard/Carthage, MO 3-Star Isaac Hines, Quarterback/Sturgis, SD 3-Star T.J. Sims, Tackle/Boone, IA Preview: #9 Iowa State (5-0, 1-0) @ Texas Tech (2-2, 0-1) This game will still be a bit of a test for the Cyclones. Tech likes to air it out, and Iowa State has had a below average pass defense this year at times, but maybe if they expect pass every down they might be fine. Iowa State made a huge leap in the polls, but I'm sure they can make a push for the national title by beating Oklahoma and Texas. ****Standings, Top 25, and Heisman Watch have now been updated and can be viewed on the 2nd post of the first page.**** Last edited by Clonefan84; 07-25-2010 at 04:26 PM. |
