2008 Heisman Trophy

In one of the, if not the closest Heisman Trophy races in history, Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel has won the 2008 Heisman Trophy award with an incredible performance this season. Daniel completed nearly seventy-five percent of his passes (306 of 442) for 3728 yards. He also added in another 682 yards on the ground for a combined, fifty-one touchdowns leading Missouri to a 10-3 record and ranking of twentieth ranking in the Final BCS Rankings.

Just behind him, and by just, we mean a single point separated them, was Florida State redshirt Sophomore Christian Ponder. Ponder completed just under seventy percent of his passes (261/380) for 3520 yards. Ponder also added another 310 yards on the ground this season and, like Daniel, compiled a total of fifty-one touchdowns for the 12-1 Florida State Seminoles. Also making the top five cut were Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell, Oklahoma halfback Demarco Murray, and Texas quarterback Colt McCoy.
