Eugene, OR - That collective sigh of relief you heard on Saturday was the Oregon Duck fan base. It took the Oregon Ducks 8:05 to score on the New Mexico Lobo's in Saturday's game. Nate Costa hit a wide open Jeff Maehl with 7:55 left in the 2nd quarter to give the Ducks a 7-0 lead on Saturday in a rain soaked Autzen Stadium.
While the first quarter was a struggle, it was all downhill from there. A huge second quarter was all the Ducks would need to hang the Lobo's out to dry. The second quarter saw not only the score from Maehl; TD's by Lavasier Tuinei, LaMichael James and even a pick six from Casey Matthews sent the Ducks cruising to a 28-3 halftime lead. The second half was more of the same, Kenjon Barner added two scores and two Field Goals by Rob Beard made the final from Autzen 48-3.
As impressive as the offense was, the Ducks defense really shined today. The Lobo's were kept out of the endzone and held to only 216 total yards on Saturday. The defense forced 6 turnovers and had seven sacks. Senior defensive tackle Branson Bair had 3 of those sacks.
The Ducks looked strong in the opener against an inferior opponent but will be tested next week when they head to Knoxville to play the Vols in a tough road game.

Looks good. I personally am a Boise State fan, so I can't really cheer for the Ducks, so I do hope that you at least lose once so BSU can jump over you in the polls.
