Coaching Career of Chris Matthews

Team = ?

Game: NCAA Football 11
Sliders: Playmakers
Rosters: RomanCaesar

Being a CH2k8 guy, I like the idea of having a coach work his way up through the ranks more than just sticking with one team throughout. This will keep my interest a lot more, and I hope to keep this one going at least until I get my TCU dynasty figured out.

Should have things up shortly, including what team I'll be starting out with.

Chris Matthews Hired to Replace Tommy West
__________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

Mar 1, 2010

MEMPHIS, TENN. -

The Memphis Tigers finally announced who their head coach will be for the 2010 season this afternoon. Their decision was one that wasn't expected at all, naming Chris Matthews the team's leader. Matthews has no football experience at all, but has coached the North Florida Osprey's basketball team for the past 2 seasons.

"I used to be really good at NCAA Football 05 when I was younger," Coach Matthews responded when being asked about his football knowledge.

What is known about Matthews from his UNF team, is that he will do anything it takes to win. He is also very vocal about problems, and will call out anybody whatsoever who questions him or his team. Matthews got suspended for a few games in his first season in Jacksonville because he threw a chair at a referee.

Matthews will meet with his team tomorrow, and hopefully knows what he is doing and can transform Memphis football the way he has North Florida basketball.

Matthews Bringing the Air Raid to Memphis
__________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

Mar 21, 2010

MEMPHIS, TENN. -

Matthews is already making headlines for his interesting decisions. In the past Memphis has relied on their running game, but Matthews has decided that he wants to transform the Tigers into a passing attack similar to that of Texas Tech and Houston.

"Basically the idea behind this is that the air raid will give us the ability to demolish opponents by as many points possible. I don't show any mercy. If your team is playing so horribly that they are getting their *** handed to them, prepare to be humiliated by the Memphis Tigers and Chris Matthews," was all the Tigers' head coach had to say about the decision.

Some fans are extremely excited about next season already, while others (mostly alumni and older fans) want Matthews gone already because they can't stand his over the top mentality. Some students believe that this is exactly what the football program needed. Matthews is a coach that could lure some better recruits to the school, and possibly help get the team closer to the popularity level of the basketball team.

McKenzie Looks to Lead Offense
__________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

MEMPHIS, TENN. -

Memphis' offense is young, very young. They only start two seniors, and four juniors. They are starting a QB that is a freshman, and their number one running back is also a freshman.

Going by that it's easy to tell why the offense could be in trouble this season. They are running a completely new offense that they will all have to adapt to, and the younger players might not have the experience or maturity to be able to pull that off quickly enough to make this season successful.

The Tigers do have a solid group of young receivers though, which could make this switch to the Air Raid offense a very good one. If freshman QB Ryan Williams can make the throws, the receivers should have the talent to do the rest. If not sophomores Tyler Bass or Cannon Smith could get some playing time this season and allow Williams to develop.

The offensive line is the strong suit of this squad. They are composed of three juniors and the only two seniors starting on offense. Their experience will be key to helping protect Memphis' young quarterbacks.

Jamon Hughes Powers Tigers' Defense
__________________________________________________ _____________________________________________

MEMPHIS, TENN. -

The defense doesn't quite have the youth problem that is on the offensive side of the ball. There are several experienced players on defense, and Memphis will be looking for them to make stops if the offense can't put up points.

The front 7 is probably the strongest part of the entire Memphis Tigers' football team. They hope to be able to at least contain the run, especially since they are sticking with the 4-3 defense. The front 4 are led by JR LE Frank Trotter and SO DT Dontari Poe. Look for them to be causing havoc on opposing QBs this season.

Jamon Hughes leads the linebacker core once again this season. If any player on the Memphis team has a shot at going pro, it's this guy. The players on his left and right aren't near his level, so he will have to use his leadership to pick them up.

Memphis is going to allow passing yards this year. A LOT of passing yards. Their secondary needs a lot of work. They start two freshman at the CB position, with a senior anchoring them. Marcus Ball is going to have his work cut out for him trying to bring this group together.
