Re: The Most Realistic Franchise Possible, Take Two! (Steelers)

ANOTHER ROUND OF ANTONIO BROWN!

Last year, the Steelers defeated the Ravens in the AFC Divisional Championship thanks largely to a one-hand, one-helmet catch by Antonio Brown on 3rd-and-19, setting up a 2 yard run for a division-winning touchdown by Rashard Mendenhall.

In last night's matchup against the Ravens, Brown did it again. Except this time, it was fourth and 11, and he ran it in for the game-winning touchdown himself.

"What a crazy play. What a crazy player. You know, Antonio took some flak during the preseason from some people. Said, you know, maybe a little less dancing and a little more catching. Well, Antonio makes the crazy catches every single time," said QB Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers entered the half down 17-3, in what appeared to be a repeat of their week one matchup, where the Ravens humiliated the Steelers. However, the Steelers showed up to play in the second half, tying the game by the end of the third quarter, thanks largely to a fumble recovery by Ziggy Hood. The Steelers defense lit up Joe Flacco all night, forcing him to fumble five times, although the Ravens recover four of those.

Antonio Brown's catch on 4th-and-11, and then running it in for a 21 yard touchdown, won the game in the fourth quarter.

Roethlisberger significantly improved from last week, throwing for 381 yards and just one interception (as opposed to five to the Patriots). Likewise, the entire team looked better, committing far fewer sloppy penalties than they did with the Patriots.

With this win, the Steelers reclaim their lead over the AFC North. The Steelers are 6-3. The Ravens slip to second place, 5-3.

Troy Polamalu left the game at the end of the first quarter with a strained back. He is listed as probable for next week's division match at Cincinatti. LaMarr Timmons was briefly sidelined with a chest injury, but came back into the game a few plays later. Coach Tomlin said Timmons will play next week.

Re: The Most Realistic Franchise Possible, Take Two! (Steelers)

WEEK 9 ROUNDUP

Jets 21 - Bills 14. Sanchez only throws for 67 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions, but still helps the Bills fall into irrelevance after such a strong start earlier this season.

Buccaneers 20 - Saints 17. Freeman goes out temporarily with leg injury, but Josh Johnson clings to upset win, allowing Buccaneers to take first place in the NFC South.

Falcons 24 - Colts 21. Painter throws for 238 yards, 3 TDs, and 0 interceptions, but Matty Ice pulls off a 17 point comeback in the final quarter. Colts are the only team who are still winless. A Youtube video makes the rounds, showing someone who looks like Andrew Luck meeting with a real estate agent in Indianapolis. Luck and the real estate agent refuse to comment.

Cowboys 27 - Seahawks 12. Seahawks never have a chance, but DeMarco Murray still seals the deal with a 73-yard run into the end zone.

Dolphins 19 - Chiefs 7. Dolphins finally get their first win of the season, gaining them nothing and possibly costing them Luck.

Redskins 23 - 49ers 13. This isn't a result of the Redskins' moves paying off. Washington's new WR Justin Gage recorded exactly 0 receptions, while the newly-starting RT Flozell Adams gave up an important sack. However, the 49ers Alex Smith went down in the second series with concussion-like symptoms, leaving rookie Colin Kaepernick behind center for most of the game. Smith is listed as questionable for next week. Beck threw for 132 yards, with a 57% completion rate and 1 TD. Not a great game, but it appears to be good enough for Beck to keep his job one more week.

Texans 17 - Browns 14. Cleveland tries to mess with Texas. Fails.

Raiders 20 - Broncos 13. Tebow barely crosses 100 yards passing, but Coach Fox says Tebow is the starter for the rest of the season.

Titans 19 - Bengals 16 (OT). Locker pulled in first half, Hasselbeck leads Titans to field goal range in over time.

Rams 29 - Cardinals 22. Bradford is still out with an ankle injury, but AJ Feeley looks MUCH better this week. Throws for 283 yards, a 67% completion rate, 2 TDs, 0 interceptions, and...most importantly...a win.

Patriots 38 - Giants 34. Tom Brady goes down in the third quarter, but rookie Ryan Mallett throws the game-winning 11 yard TD to Wes Welker with one minute left on the clock.

Packers 23 - Chargers 18. Rodgers leaves at the half with a broken nose, but Matt Flynn throws for 176 yards, with a 72% completion rate and a 25 yard TD pass to Donald Driver. Chargers' rookie Jordan Todman pulls off an 87-yard kickoff return into the end zone, but it's too little too late.

Bears 34 - Eagles 31. Vick misses final quarter with neck injury, Vince Young can't complete a single pass. Vick returns and runs 55 yards into the end zone, getting the Dream Team within 3 points with 1:48 on the clock, but the Bears recover the onside kick.

Re: The Most Realistic Franchise Possible, Take Two! (Steelers)

GARRARD FINDS A HOME

Former Jacksonville QB David Garrard has a new home in Seattle.

After losing OG John Moffit to a hip fracture for the rest of the season, the Seahawks found themselves with an open spot on their roster. Garrard, having been released by Jacksonville before the season opener, and having been passed on by every other team in need of a QB so far (Dolphins, Broncos, Raiders, and most recently, the Redskins), will fill it.

"On the one hand, we're in the middle of a losing season, with...what is it...only 3 wins and 5 losses?" asked Seahawks owner Paul Allen. "On the other hand, we're in second place in our division, and only a couple wins away from getting to that playoff berth. We've obviously had some trouble behind center, and we're looking to David to help us in that regard."

TAMPA BAY

The Buccaneers lost CB Aqib Talib to a partial ACL Tear in last week's narrow win over the Saints. The Buccaneers are now leading the NFC South, but with Talib likely to be out until early January, do they place him on IR and sign a lesser CB, or go with what they have, hoping they can survive long enough to see Talib's return?

The Buccs have chosen the middle road. Talib will remain on the roster, while Coach Raheem Morris announced the acquisition of CB Randall Gay from free agency. Gay was undrafted in 2004, but signed with the Patriots. A string of injuries allowed Gay to become a starter and was the leading tackler in the Superbowl his rookie year. However, he ended up on the injured reserve in 2005 and 2006, and found himself in a backup role in 2007. He moved to the Saints in 2008, and played in the Superbowl in 2009. However, a concussion in 2010 found him on the injured reserve again, and he was released earlier this year.

The Buccaneers have released undrafted rookie ILB Derrell Smith to make room for Gay.

NEW ENGLAND

OLB Tracy White will miss the rest of the season with a broken collarbone, according to sources in the Patriots' front office. The Patriots are in talks with ILB Akin Ayodele. Ayodele has played for the Jaguars, Cowboys, Broncos, Dolphins, and Bills.

DALLAS

Star DT Jay Ratliff is out for two months with a torn bicep. The Cowboys will keep him on the roster with the hopes that he will return in time for a playoff run. The Cowboys have signed free agent DT Jovan Haye to fill in in the meantime, cutting WR Teddy Williams to make room on the roster.

SAN FRANCISCO

The 49ers have placed CB Shawntae Spencer on IR after Spencer tore a tricep last week. The 49ers used the freed roster space to pick up OT Mark Tauscher.

Steelers Head Into Bye Week With Shocking Loss

With 25 unanswered points and a 4th-quarter kickoff return into the endzone, the Bengals scored a huge upset over the AFC Defending Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Steelers dominated the first and fourth quarters, scoring 20 points to Cincinatti's 7. However, the Bengals stomped on the Pittsburgh for the second and third quarters, scoring 25 points to the Steelers' 3.

"We were dominated in every facet of the game. They did a better job throwing, they did a better job catching, they did a better job running, they did a better job of protecting their quarterback, they did a better job defending. We were outplayed and outcoached. It is what it is," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "Obviously, heading into the bye week, we've got a lot of work to do."

Tomlin was correct in spreading the blame, but the O-Line is taking the most flak from the fans. The Steelers gave up nine sacks, compared to only one against the Bengals. Ramon Foster was the worst performer, giving up five sacks alone.

Lamarr Woodley and Troy Polamalu were both injured in the game, but are expected to return following Pittsburgh's upcoming bye week.

Despite the loss, the Steelers (6-4) still lead the AFC North. The Bengals (5-4) are in second place.

Re: The Most Realistic Franchise Possible, Take Two! (Steelers)

Week 10 Roundup

Chargers 48 - Raiders 31. Palmer guided the Raiders to an early lead, but fractured a rib in the third quarter. Kyle Boller surrendered the lead to Phillip Rivers, who led the Chargers in an 18-point 4th quarter rally.

Falcons 28 - Saints 20. Drew Brees injured, listed as probable for next week.

Lions 20 - Bears 14. And tigers! Oh my!

Colts 52 - Jaguars 35. Curtis Painter throws for 434 yards, a 73% completion rate, five touchdowns, two interceptions, and Indy's very first win of the season. Painter is immediately picked up on every fantasy football league.

Chiefs 29 - Broncos 24. Tebow completes a 58 yd TD pass to Eddie Royal at the 2 minute warning, making it a one score game, but never gets the ball back.

Titans 34 - Panthers 23. Locker loses starting job just two weeks after getting it. Hasselbeck plays entire game.

Texans 20 - Buccaneers 9. Texans hold on to AFC South lead with slow and steady offense.

Dolphins 20 - Redskins 14. Both starting QBs go down in Miami's second win. Moore dislocated his throwing elbow. Beck fractured his jaw. Expect both QBs to miss at least one week each.

Browns 34 - Rams 13. Bradford still not back from his ankle injury, Feeley still not leading a fan revolt to name him as the official starter going forward.

Bills 20 - Cowboys 17. Fitzpatrick leads Buffalo in 10 point 4th quarter surge for the win.

Eagles 33 - Cardinals 24. Kolb injured, Skelton looks good with three TDs in three quarters, but it's too little, too late.

Seahawks 26 - Ravens 7. Seahawks still down by three games in NFC West, but David Garrard gives fans reason to hope in what should have been a blow-out win for the Ravens.

49ers 17 - Giants 14. Giants come back from 14 point deficit, making it a field goal game with three minutes on the clock, but Manning can't seal the deal.

Patriots 37 - Jets 18. Patriots hold on to AFC lead against division rivals.

Packers 22 - Vikings 7. Packers still undefeated. Could they go all the way?

TERRELLE PRYOR GETS THE CALL

With Jason Campbell on IR with a broken collarbone, Carson Palmer nursing a broken rib, and Boller handing in two underwhelming performances so far, Raiders fourth-string QB Terrelle Pryor must think the stars have finally aligned.

Terrelle Pryor left Ohio State under the darkness of night in a jersey-for-tattoos scandal, finding himself in Oakland after being drafted in the third round of this year's supplemental draft. Suspended from practicing for the first five weeks, Pryor seemed unlikely to take a snap this year...but the unexpected string of injuries have allowed Pryor to take the first snap next week.

The Raiders are 5-4, a three-way tie for first place in the AFC West.
MIAMI: QB Matt Moore is out for next week with a dislocated elbow in his throwing arm. The recently-acquired J.P. Losman will start behind center. The Dolphins have activated Pat Devlin off of their practice squad to serve as Losman's backup. Undrafted rookie TE Will Yeatman was released, and then signed to Miami's practice squad.

Washington: QB John Beck could miss a month with a fractured jaw. Rex Grossman has his starting job back. Jonathan Crompton has been activated from the Redskins' practice squad.

San Diego: DE Luis Castillo will miss the rest of the season with a dislocated hip. Jacques Cesaire will start in his place. The Chargers have added OT Mario Henderson from Free Agency.

Atlanta: OLB Mike Peterson will miss the rest of the season with a fractured hip. DE Kroy Biermann will take over at LOLB. The Falcons have signed OLB Caleb Campbell to serve as his backup.

Baltimore DT Terrence Cody has been placed on IR after suffering a PCL tear in the Ravens' devastating loss to the Seahawks. The Ravens have signed DT Tank Johnson.

New Orleans: Star TE Jimmy Graham will miss the rest of the regular season after fracturing his left forearm. The Saints will keep Graham on the active roster, hoping he'll return in time to help in the playoffs. David Thomas will start in his absence.

WEEK 11 ROUNDUP

Broncos 23 - Jets 10: Tebow finally looks good...at least, in comparison to Sanchez.

Ravens 23 - Bengals 10: Dalton throws 0 TDs, 3 interceptions. My fantasy QB, ladies and gentlemen.

Redskins 23 - Cowboys 20: Rex Grossman completes a 41 yard touchdown with his second pass...but a late hit results in concussion like symptoms. With Beck out for the month with a broken jaw, Jonathan Crompton...fresh off the practice squad, manages to win the game in overtime.

Bills 20 - Dolphins 17: JP Losman throws for 308 yards, 1 TD, and 2 interceptions. Bills nail the winning 23 yd FG with 1:13 on the clock.

Falcons 31 - Titans 21: Titans return two interceptions for touchdowns, but Hasselbeck can't get anything going.

Raiders 30 - Vikings 24: Pryor throws for 104 yards, 1 TD, 0 interceptions in his NFL debut. Pryor completes his first TD pass in the 4th quarter to Darrius Heyward-Bey for 27 yards, taking the lead with 7 minutes left on the clock. Christian Ponder answered with a game-tying 7 yard TD pass to Visanthe Shiancoe. The game went to overtime, but Darren McFadden ran for a 73 yard touchdown in the first snap, winning the game. McFadden had 185 rushing yards and 2 TDs.

Browns 25 - Jaguars 18: Browns score 16 points in 4th quarter in come-from-behind win.

Lions 36 - Panthers 24: Stafford throws for 331 yards in field goal competition.

Packers 28 - Buccaneers 26: Rodgers throws for 4 TDs, Freeman doesn't throw for any, but it's still a 2 point nail biter for the entire fourth quarter. Packers remain undefeated. Legarrette Blount runs for 100 yards, three TDs.

Rams 22 - Seahawks 17: Feeley and Bradford each play for a half, but neither can find the endzone. Rams seal win with a 50 yard returned punt by Danny Amendola for the touchdown.

Cardinals 17 - 49ers 14. Alex Smith suffers meniscus tear, likely to miss two weeks.

Chargers 34 - Bears 22: Rivers launches 31-point comeback in second half.

Giants 34 - Eagles 13: Manning throws for 420 yards, three TDs, 0 ints.

Patriots 26 - Chiefs 21: Patriots versus Chiefs. Bookies weren't even taking any bets on this game.

LIONS DEFEAT PACKERS BY SINGLE POINT

With only 50 seconds left on the clock, the Jeff Hanson kicked a 26 yard field goal to take the one-point lead away from Green Bay, ending the Packer's 10-game winning streak.

Matt Stafford threw for 241 yards, 2 TDs, and 0 interceptions. Aaron Rodgers threw for 206 yards, 3 TDs, and 1 interception.

Brandon Pettigrew caught both of the Lions' touchdowns. Greg Jennings, Jermichael Finley, and James Jones each came up with a touchdown for Green Bay.

Despite Green Bay's loss, the Packers still lead the NFL, 10-1. The Lions are now 9-2.
