This is not how I expected the season to begin. We were sloppy, all around. I'm glad we managed to pull out the win, but I'd like if next time we could execute our gameplan more efficiently. I will attribute Drew's two poor decisions to first game jitters. Tony Bryant had a great day. Poor kid broke so many tackles he strained his shoulder. Matt came in and did fantastically as well. Hopefully Tony's okay for next game. We'll need him playing a strong Northern Illinois squad. Defense will be our main focus in practice this week. We gave up way too many big plays that kept them in the game all game long. But boy, their quarterback did look great didn't he? Shew.

CB Brian Bush is beat badly by WR David Clemons for a 71-yard touchdown.

Year Seven Week One Recap

Week One Recap

@
Game of the Week

QB Sam Garrison throws it deep to Darrick Morales for a 29 yard touchdown reception.

West Virginia upsets Penn State in their own backyard 21-17. Their very large backyard. Not that this was a particularly exciting game, but the outcome will have major implications come closer to championship time. Neither team could run the ball with any measure of success. They had a hard time passing it too. But when they did complete passes, they were usually for huge gains. Sam Garrison went 26/47 for 394 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. These interceptions were both huge defensive plays, as they were both made inside of their own endzone. Patrick Coleman had a better overall day, but his team still managed to lose. Patrick went 18/40 for 343 yards and 2 touchdowns. How do you like that? The favorite to win the ACC falters in the very first week.

Re: Coach Wile: A Football Life (NCAA 12)

To anyone who's following, you're more than welcome to help me pick a game of the week for next week. Any information you need will be provided on request. It's kind of hard to pick a game out of that lot. They picked the Oklahoma/Ohio St. game which is big but there's also Tennessee/Miami, Alabama/Michigan State
and Michigan/Notre Dame which should all be fantastic games.

Year Seven Game Two Preview

Matchup Preview | September 2, 2017
@
Northwestern Wildcats
(1-0, 1-0 Away)
Northern Illinois Huskies
(0-0, 0-0 Home)
Injury Report
HB Tony Bryant
Probable

Game Notes
Two rookie head coaches square off as Jeremiah Wile's Wildcats play Jarret Andersen's Huskies. The Northwestern Wildcats will not get away with another sub-par performance on the road. A strong Northern Illinois team looking to challenge Ohio and Miami University for the MWC title will not allow it. Key to the Game: The Northwestern defense will have to stop the run to force the Huskies to pass the ball. Austin Thomas is an explosive back that can take it to the house on any given play. The Northwestern front seven will have their hands full for this one.

I would like to see Ohio State-Oklahoma, but thats just because of their high rankings.

Shawn Harris - 3rec 38 yards, TD

Jared Davidson - 2rec 52 yards

Brodie Moore - 6 tackles, 1 sack

We were slow coming out of the gates. At first, I thought we might have a repeat sub-par performance. But the guys turned it around very nicely. I'm really glad Tony could play. He gets the game ball today. Drew played within himself and did a great job. Jason Houston knocked Josh McDonald right out of the game. That proved pivotal, because the back-up quarterback Sam Weddle threw two interceptions. I think Sam underestimated Brian Bush and Kennard Hogan's jumping ability. I had my doubts about this game, but our guys made the right plays at the right times to get the victory against a tough Northern Illinois team. Austin Thomas gave us pretty much what we expected with his three homeruns. Luckily Jarret Andersen didn't call too many plays for him, and we were able to shut down all other aspects of their offense. The Chippewas better be ready, because I feel like we're about to start rolling.

NIU's Austin Thomas accelerates right around the defense for a 29-yard score.

Kennard Hogan picks off Sam Weddle on the deep throw.

Drew Franklin had a great day managing the game and throwing for three touchdowns.

Next Week's Match-Up

Central Michigan 0-1
