Injury Report
ROLB Joe Gardner Broken Collarbone (Out for Season)
Game Notes
Colorado's home opener is against a tough opponent in Stanford. Ranked 8th in the country, Stanford wants revenge, as Colorado beat Stanford at Palo Alto last year 32-22. Stanford already lost one of their better players on defense, sophomore LB Joe Gardner will miss the entire year with a broken collarbone.
Stanford will be starting a RS Freshman Phillip Harmon, it will only be his second collegiate start. He will get help from Kelsey Young, a terrific running back and the offensive line is one of the best in the conference. Cardinal's front 7 is filled with talent, and the depth at cornerbacks is the strength for the defense. Stanford has many as 7 guys who can start at corner for other teams, it's that loaded.
Colorado wants to get back on the winning track after losing to the Gators last week. 1-0 already inside the conference, CU's defense has to step up. They are allowing too many yards to the opposing team and puts too much pressure on a young offense that still needs some time to develop. Talent wise, Stanford has a big advantage of Colorado, but with altitude and the home crowd factored into it, Colorado might able to pull of a mini upset.
The buffaloes defended their home field, beating their conference foe Stanford 37-13. The buffs defense kept Stanford in check all game and only allowed a touchdown when Stanford got a great field position after an interception. Colorado picked off freshman QB Phillip Harmon 3 times, it wasn't a great first game on the road for the young QB. Stanford converted on once on third down on 12 tries. Colorado record 7 total sacks as a team.
Colorado scored on the first three possessions of the game, getting up 21-0 early in the game. After Stanford's field goal, Colorado scored 10 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 31-3 lead into halftime.
Buffs now improved to 2-0 in the conference. Now they get ready to play in-state rivals Colorado State Rams at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Stanford is now 0-1 inside the conference and 1-1 on the year.

Game Notes
Another year of the rivalry, another year where CU is expect to dominate the in-state rivals Rams. Colorado State is struggling on the year already, 0-2 with a loss to Stanford and Minnesota. Everette Withers is in his first year coaching the Rams.
Garrett Grayson is a accurate passer for the Rams, but the problem is he has no one to throw it to beside the running backs. Outside the running back tandem of Donnell Alexander and Dorian Brown, there isn't much talent on offense. The offensive line is inexperience and could be trouble against the CU defense. Strength of Rams' defense is the safetys, but outside that once again is lack of talent.
If Colorado stays focus, they will win this game easily. They are better everywhere than the Rams. QB Roger Cunningham hopes to build on a strong game vs Stanford and continue vs the Rams. It will be a good game for second stringers that won't play much this year to get some playing time if the game is out of hand late.
