Re: The Return of America's Team | Ferret's Dallas Cowboys

Note: Happy New Year everyone! I haven't had a chance, due to the holiday, to get any games in or add any updates to the thread. I should, however, be playing a couple games tonight. Though I don't have the injury report for the Jets yet (which I will add before I play the game) I am posting the matchup preview for the time being.

Re: The Return of America's Team | Ferret's Dallas Cowboys

Jets Lagged at Home

DALLAS - Things did not look good for the Cowboys as they came into the fourth quarter down by nine points and not looking in any shape to catch up. Tony Romo was already at a 1-2 TD/INT ratio and the Cowboys run game was showing the impact of the loss of injured Felix Jones and DeMarco Murray. However, the defense stepped up to the challenge and shut the Jets out in the last quarter. Particularly the show put on by the teams newest linebacker in the 3-4 defense, Lofa Tatupu. A free agent who was picked up right after the preseason, Lofa lead the team on tackles in his first game as a Dallas Cowboy. Driven by their showing, Romo and the offense stepped up their game. Romo finished the game with more TDs than INTs and Miles Austin and Kevin Ogletree showed off their speed coming off the line, opening themselves downfield for two long passes. Rowdy going into the quarter, Romo and the Cowboys had silenced the New York crowd as they took the final knee with just 00:01 seconds remaining.

Re: The Return of America's Team | Ferret's Dallas Cowboys

Battle by the Bay

DALLAS - Despite a slow start and the dominance of Frank Gore's running game, the Cowboys took over after the half and spent most of it ahead by 12 points. Despite numerous attempts at a comeback, the Cowboy's stacked defense continuously pounded and battered down a sluggish 49ers offense that was limping ever since Frank Gore went down with an injury towards the end of the 3rd. At the end of the day, the emerging Cowboys defense soaked up 3 sacks and 3 interceptions; 2 of which were in the last quarter. A red zone interception by Anthony Spencer that dashed most of the 49ers hopes of a come behind victory, and one on the 49ers last possession by Barry Church to end the game. The impressive free agent Lofa Tatupu is also continuing to make his case to the Cowboys, again leading the defense in tackles and claiming one of the three sacks.
