Richmond to Make Jump to FBS
Storied Spiders Step Up to Big Show

The Richmond Spiders have been a force for the past decade in the FCS, but with the recent jump of multiple programs to the top tier of college football, they have decided to make the leap themselves, joining UMass and Texas State, as well as the brand-new UTSA program.

"This is something we've studied for a while now, and have made all of the required adjustments to be eligible to move to the FBS. This program is ready to make the move, and we look forward to continued and even greater success in the years to come. While this will be much more challenging, we look forward to it, and relish the opportunity we've received." said Athletic Director Jim Miller.

The 2008 FCS National Champions, Richmond as of now will be an independent program in the FBS. Rumors are swirling as to what conference they will be located in, but as of now there has been no announcement made as to the location.
