Welcome to my pain...
Yea, not the best practice I've ever had. However I can say that overall the hard work & the training paid off after a long hard training camp. I won the starting job & I'm gonna make my regular season debut on Monday Night Football! I understand the pressure put on me for this game. Its against a bitter division rival in the Chargers, its at home, & of course its Monday Night Football so the whole nation is gonna watch this one. I know its all on me to help carry this team.
Being an NFL QB in camp (especially as a rookie) can be an overwhelming experience at times. Of course the "hazing" came into play early (my BRAND NEW silver & black Mustang got towed from the training facility to downtown LA. YES I had to pay for it). It all wasn't too hard however, I got to know a lot of the guys & they all in it for one goal & that's to get this team back to what it once was. One dude I know for a fact is in that mindset is my old teammate from Maryland, D-Bay (Darrius Heyward-Bay). We got pretty tight during my red shirt season in '08. During the preseason we just sorta clicked in terms of our chemistry on the field. I guess that was my slight advantage over the others fighting for the starting job. I honestly think we got a chance to blaze a trail in this league together.
My O-Coordinator coach Knapp & I have bonded as well. He's helped me hone my skills to fit into his schemes & I've caught on pretty quick thanks to him. He's tailored the offense more to my style & I know it wasn't hard for him seeing that he's come from a West Coast offense back round. He helped Mike Vick & Matt Schuab during his days in Atlanta & Houston become elite QB's. I'm gonna make sure my name is on that list. This has been a fun ride so far. Doing what I love to do best & now I'm getting mad money for it! Can't wait for Monday night, hope ya'll tune in.
