Re: Coach K and the Philadelphia Dragons [Madden 2004-FantasyDraftFranchise]

After a disapointing 6-10.. Coach K will look to turn the team around through free agency and the draft, while also trying to keep his best players.

Heres a look at the players whos contracts have run out, and players who are holding out for a new contract:

Coach K on releasing starting tight end D.Carswell:
"Honestly, the guy stinks. He had less then 100 receiving yards last season."

Coach K on the re-signings:
"Obviously we had to restructure Al Harris' contract, he may be our best defensive back and we couldnt afford to lose him. We came to an agreement fairly easily. Re-Signing Walter Jones was a no brainer, hes one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL."

Coach K on the Draft and Free Agency:
"Right now we are looking for a QB because we are going to shop Aaron Brooks. If we cant find a good trade partner we are going to cut him. To start 16 games and only throw 8 TD passes is horrible and he will not be a Philadelphia Dragon next season, thats for sure. Another position we need to fill is the spot at starting tight end."

With 3 QBs projected to be drafted in the 1st round.. it seems likely that 1 of them will fall to the Dragons, who are currently sitting with the #5 pick. Here all 15 of the players Coach K chose to scout:

Coach K on what would be his ideal draft:
"Obviously we would love to get our hands on one of the 3 QBs, especially John Stabler from Cal. He is clearly the best prospect in the entire draft and would be our immediate starter. We are hoping to get tight end Marshall Humphrey with our 2nd round pick, if he drops that far. If not, we would hope for one of the 1st-2nd round offensive tackles or WRs to still be available."

Big news at the start of the draft as Coach K and the Philadelphia Dragons have made a trade with the Buffalo Bills.

The Dragons have acquired:

Bills 1st round pick (#2)
Bills 2nd round pick (#2)

The Bills have acquired:

Dragons 1st round pick (#5)
Dragons 2nd round pick (#5)
and quarterback Aaron Brooks.

This trade guarentees the Dragons will be able to draft one of the QBs projected to be taken in round 1. The Bills have acquired Aaron Brooks who will start at quarterback over Jon Kitna next season, barring any unforeseen events.

Re: Coach K and the Philadelphia Dragons [Madden 2004-FantasyDraftFranchise]

"With the 2nd pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.. the Philadelphia Dragons select.. John Stabler, quarterback, California."

Coach K on the pick:
"We got exactly who we wanted, we feel that John is ready to step in and be our starter and leader from Day 1."

"With the 34th pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.. the Philadelphia Dragons select.. Leslie Floyd, offensive tackle, San Diego State"

Coach K on the pick:
"Obviously we are hugely disapointed that Marshall Humphreys went to the 49ers 1 pick before us, but we were thrilled to see Leslie still available in the 2nd round. We had to take him. With Walter Jones and Bob Whitfield both over the age of 30, we needed someone who could replace one of them down the road."

Note: Tight end Marshall Humphrey was taken 1 pick ahead of the Dragons to the 49ers.

"With the 69th pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.. the Philadelphia Dragons select.. Torry Kent, defensive end, Clemson."

Coach K on the pick:
"We were a little surprised to see Torry drop this far in the draft (projected 1st-2nd round). With his unbelievable size and athletic ability (6'5 300lbs, 4.41 40 yard dash) he could be an absolute steal."

"With the 101st pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.. the Philadelphia Dragons select.. Jimmy Carter, outside linebacker, USC."

Coach K on the pick:
"Jimmy, like Torry Kent, has amazing athletic ability. 6'3 250lbs and a 4.34 40 yard dash is what sold us. With the right coaching, he could be a real game changer."

"With the 133rd pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.. the Philadelphia Dragons select.. DeShawn Stubbs, cornerback, Tennessee."

"With the 165th pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.. the Philadelphia Dragons select.. LeRoy Burton, tight end, Auburn."

"With the 197th pick of the 2004 NFL Draft.. the Philadelphia Dragons select.. Steve Lewis.. halfback, Appalachian State."
