Marching Back - the New Jersey Black Knights Story (Blitz the League)

"..And that's the game. The Nightmare defeat the Storm and they are going back to Division III."

The Indianapolis Storm lost big, as their starting quarterback would suffer a career ending injury and the team would go back to Division 3 of The League. And Owner Strang isn't happy. He decided to cut everyone, relocate, and have an all new coaching staff. Only time would tell if the decision would pay off or if they are just meant to be perennial cellar dwellers.

STORM RELOCATE

It's official. The Indianapolis Storm are relocating, to New Jersey. The team will be called the Black Knights and wear all black uniforms. The rumor is that Owner Strang made the move to rival with the New York Nightmare who ended the team's season. However that team will move up to Divison I as they would go on to win the D2 title. The teams will now be in neighboring states if they ever face each other.

Kurt Shock comes out of retirement to join the Black Knights

The NJ Black Knights have announced the signing of DE Kurt Shock. Shock was a star defensive end for the Washington RedHawks but after adding Jacob Williams they released him and he retired. Shock will be the team's captain this year, despite the team having the #1 overall pick in next month's draft.

Knights announce new coach and coordinators

The NJ Black Knights have announced the hiring of a new head coach, offensive coordinator, defensive coordinator, and trainer.

Giovanni Carmazzi has been hired as the team's coach. The former Chicago Marauder OC left in pursuit of a head coaching gig this offseason. He is well known for molding Shane Spain into a star, and this hiring increases the chances that Clayton Wescott will be the #1 pick by the Knights.

Rookie coach Armand Marken is the team's offensive coordinator. Marken developed an attack called Armand and Dangerous, a pass heavy scheme, while coaching in high school. He was terrible at converting short yardage situations but it looks like the Knights will have a pass heavy attack which is good for him.

The Knights scored big with their DC hiring, former Nightmare DC Pops Rodriguez, who was fired because Quentin Sands complained about him not blitzing enough. With no true skilled pass rushers that style will work in New Jersey.

The trainer this year will be Dr. Henry Chu, who graduated at the top of his class. He will use those smarts to get the best out of the team's practices.

Coming up soon is the draft and will the Knights draft QB Clayton Wescott, RB Tyrone Kilgore, or WR Justin Jonas to lead their offense? Wescott seems like the choice due to the passing scheme employed by the HC and OC but we will find out next month.

Knights select Wescott with #1 pick

As expected, with the #1 pick in the League Draft, the New Jersey Black Knights selected QB Clayton Wescott. He threw for 20,000 career passing yards in college. However Wescott is known to have a bit of an ego and if he becomes a star who knows how big headed he will get.

Time will tell how this team will do, but training camp starts soon and the team will prepare for its first game vs the Arizona Outlaws.

Matchup Preview

NJ Knights vs Arizona Outlaws

The Knights get a tough draw Week 1 as their first ever game is against the Arizona Outlaws. After years of failure some analysts predict a D3 title from them this year. They are captained by Tito Maas, a gifted reciever who is small but quick. If the Outlaws can stop Wescott they should roll.

Prediction: Outlaws win

Re: Marching Back - the New Jersey Black Knights Story (Blitz the League)

Knights pull off upset

Knights 35
Outlaws 28

The New Jersey Knights did it.

They won their first ever game against a division favorite in Arizona, 35-28. Tito Maas had 2 touchdowns, but the connection between Clayton Wescott and new wideout Ashley Ashwin was unbelievable. Wescott threw for 498 yards and Ashwin had 402 of them. The pair connected for all 5 touchdowns scored by New Jersey. The defense struggled early but stepped up when it counted. The next hurdle for New Jersey to cross is the Cincinnati Crusaders.

Matchup Preview

NJ Knights vs. Cincinnati Crusaders

The Crusaders are not as good as the Outlaws and it seems like the Knights should come out 2-0. The Crusader captain is American born African bred RB Kwasi Mbutabe, who is entering his prime. The back rushed for over 300 yards last week, and if the Knights defense can contain him, it will be a pushover.

Prediction: Knights win
