Cardinals Fall in Preseason Home Opener

Putrid is a good descriptive verb for the performance of rookie quarterbacks Mike Glennon and Landry Jones. On the other hand, rookie Montee Ball made his case for becoming the starter, rushing 11 times for 69 yards and a score in the best offensive performance to date for a Arizona offensive player.

Cardinals Win on Jones' 92 Yard Touchdown Pass

Aside from Landry Jones' 92 yard pass to AJ Green, the quarterback struggled going 3 of 20 with an interception. Mike Glennon was 8 of 15 for 96 yards in a more steady performance, that may have won him the starting job going into week one.

Cardinals Get Beat as Preseason Ends

In the final chance to make a statement, Mike Glennon made his, turning in his best performance throwing for 135 yards and a touchdown, and Landry Jones struggled to just 5 of 14 for 58 yards and an interception. Montee Ball declared his wantingness to start rushing for 66 yards on 11 carries with a score.

Bruce Arians released a short statement after the game, "Mike [Glennon] will get the start week one against St. Louis. Landry played well but we think Mike is the right guy moving forward. Montee Ball will also get the first string nod as running back, but as always it will be a committee of backs running the ball for us moving forward."

Re: The Great Conspiracy: Madden 25

Cards Send Turner to Rams for Barner
In a move that was expected, but not to the team involved, Arizona sent Michael Turner and their 5th round pick in the 2014 draft to St. Louis in return for rookie Kenjon Barner and their 2014 1st round pick.

The trade solidifies St. Louis' backfield, and gives an alternative out of the backfield to Montee Ball and Toby Gerhart who are both bruising backs. Barner, a former track star and star running back out of Oregon is most likely the fastest Cardinal on the field, and with the addition of the 1st round pick give Arizona a lot of options come April.

Glennon Struggles Early, Comes Up Big Late in Victory
Arizona continuously found themselves trailing St. Louis through the first half thanks to three untimely interceptions thrown by Mike Glennon in his first professional start. Glennon would redeem himself in the second half, throwing two of his three touchdowns, and engineering the game winning drive with just 1:08 left on the clock as the Cardinals slid past the Rams 41-38.

The game looked as if it was in hand as Montee Ball picked up a first down, causing St. Louis to burn their final time out, but Ball would fumble on the next play setting up Eli Manning with a chance to tie the game. He did just that on the very first play of the drive, connecting with Nate Washington for a 55 yard touchdown. Washington caught 12 balls for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game, but also fumbled inside the Arizona 5 yardline the drive before which set up a 96 yard scoring drive engineered by Glennon.

Glennon looked more and more comfortable as the game wore on, hitting AJ Green for a 38 yard touchdown the first play after an Eli Manning fumble to give the Cardinals a 31-21 lead in the third quarter. Despite his turnovers in the first half, Glennon easily led the Cardinal offense down the field in the second half, hitting three different receivers for touchdowns in the game.

"Our defense couldn't stop anything. They may have forced five turnovers but you can't count on that every week. Eli Manning threw for 532 yards!" said Bruce Arians, "The only thing that kept us in that game were turnovers."

Arizona comes off a week one shootout with St. Louis in which they gave up 532 passing yards to Eli Manning, but still managed to come out on top thanks to rookie gunslinger Mike Glennon. Despite the vast amount of yards given up the defense caused havoc, sacking Manning 4 times, recovering three fumbles, and intercepting the younger Manning twice.

Detroit comes off a game where they were unable to find the end zone, instead settling for just three field goals in a 16-9 loss to the Vikings to open the season, and are now dealing with the loss of three defensive starters.

Re: The Great Conspiracy: Madden 25

Guys...I'm pissed but for now...I'm not doing dynasties (short of my NHL one, that's easy peasy)

I'll come back to doing dynasties when I can dedicate time. I'll still hang around and read, but until I find sliders I love, and get some free time...I'm out of the game.
