Restoring The Roar: A Memphis Tigers NCAA 14 Dynasty

Tigers Fire Fuente, hire former USC QB/RB coach Chad Loftstein

After a disappointing 4-8 season for the Memphis Tigers, they have fired head coach Justin Fuente. In his place, the Tigers have signed Chad Loftstein. Loftstein has coached many places around the NCAA, his most recent job has been with USC as a QB/RB coach for the past 3 years. The Tigers liked his ability to coach the offense and like his innovation and adaptability to different situations.

Recruiting Rules
All lot of people have a ton of recruiting rules, I'm horrible at recruiting, so I won't have many, just a few not to make it really easy.

1. For 1st 2 seasons I may over recruit, afterwards, I must have exactly 71 (you will see why later) players
2. I may only sign 3 players whom I'm not on their preseason top 10, if I sign too many by accident, I'll cut them.
3. Only true Freshman and transfer requests may be redshirted (To resemble loss of eligibility for a year)

Team Rules
I am going to have a few rules to keep this fun and interesting

1. Before every season I will cut the player with the lowest overall for "academic reasons"
2. I may not try to persuade any players wishing to transfer from Memphis, however I may try to persuade players to stay from the NFL draft if they are under 95 overall.
3. Every 4th game a random player will infract a team rule and be out for either a quarter, half, or game.
4. Every other game I will have a random starter or player that plays meaningful minutes get injured. Injuries don't happen enough by themselves, so I will do a process that will be described later. Severity of injuries goes: Questionable (Loses 5 attribute points to a few important stats) out for 1 game, out for 2-5 games, and out for the season.

To do injuries I'll do a simple string of chances. First, I'll flip a coin; heads is offense and tails is defense. Next I'll get 2 dice and roll. Every position has a #, and then I'll roll one die to determine how bad the injury is. 1 will be no injury, 2 will be questionable, 3 and 4 out for 1 game, 5 out for 2-5 games and 6 is out for season. If I roll 5 I'll do another die roll to see how many games they are out.

Team rule infractions is same thing with the die, 1 and 2 is out for a quarter, 3 and 4 is out for half, and 5 and 6 is out for game.



House Rules
I like to try to keep these games about my teams skill, not my stick skills. So a few rules will be in place to keep that in hand

1. No switching on offense or defense.
2. Playcalling: I can only run read options/triple options once a drive. Also I will use "Ask Coach" and pick one of the 1st 4 plays he gives me

2013 Season Preview:

Memphis Daily

Memphis is normally known basketball, country music, and great barbeque; however coach Chad Loftstein looks to turn around its football program. This Memphis team looks to have a balanced offense and defense. On offense, Memphis is lead by the dual headed attack of Jai Steib and Brandon Hayes at running back and redshirt freshman Paxton Lynch at quarterback. On defense watch out for defensive end Martin Ifedi and free safety Tavon Bolden. So let's meet this offense.

At quarterback dual threat Paxton Lynch, this redshirt freshman has wheels, but also has good accuracy, he has a chance to be a 4 year starter, so watch out for him in years to come.

At halfback Jai Steib will be starting, the versatile 5'11" 225 lbs elusive running back is tough to tackle and pairs great with halfback Brandon Hayes. Hayes is 5’8” 205 lbs, but is more of a bowling ball than Steib, and is a good north south runner. Both will receive a lot of touches throughout the season.

Now lets meet the defensive studs.

Defensive end Martin Ifedi is arguably the best player on the team. The 6'3" 260 lbs redshirt junior is a force to be reckoned with. He is a sure tackler, and a big hitter. Ifedi has a good balance of moves between the bull rush, swim, spin, and just ties to out run you with his great athleticism.

Next is safety Tavon Bolden. The 6'1" 205 lbs redshirt senior is in his last year with the Tigers and looks to make it a great one. Bolden is great in coverage and if he gets beat, he can use his speed to get back in the play.

Lastly, we have middle linebacker Charles Harris. The 6'2" 235 lbs junior is an impact player on this defense. He uses his speed and athleticism to get to plays and his smarts get his there before others can. He is a sure tackler and a sure star on this Tigers defense.

Here is the team depth chart for the year, lots of close battles on the line, and coach Loftstein said that he will be quick to pull someone that can't block anyone.
