Billt For Success: A Buffalo Bills Franchise

Billt For Success: A Buffalo Bills Franchise.

A Buffalo Bills franchise, using self-made sliders and current rosters on Madden 13. Using an Xbox 360.

The Bills haven't reached the playoffs in 14 years. The forever-futile Chicago Cubs have made it more recently than that. It's time to mold the Bills into the team they can become, and knock the AFC East crown from atop the heads of the Bradiots.

Re: Billt For Success: A Buffalo Bills Franchise

A quick overview of the roster and my abstract gameplan:

Quarterbacks: E.J. Manuel, Thad Lewis, and Kevin Kolb. In this scenario, Manuel isn't dead of injuries and there are no undrafted QB's possibly starting. I will run a couple of read-options per game, but on the whole it will be an old-school offense.

Running backs: Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller will share touches, based on their respective skill sets. Tashard Choice is a rudimentary backup to both.

O-Line: Next.

Receivers: Steve Johnson is the clear go-to guy, with Roberts Woods being thrust into the 2 role with no one else good enough. Brad Johnson, T.J. Graham, and Marquise Goodwin will round out a weak top 5.

Tight Ends: I actually use tight ends heavily in the passing game, with many 2-TE sets. To that effect, I've brought in veteran Randy McMichael from the Chargers to compensate for Scott Chandler's leaning towards the run game.

Re: Billt For Success: A Buffalo Bills Franchise

So it wasn't pretty. It wasn't even good enough to be ugly. But the Buffalo Bills are the new owners of a 1-0 record, courtesy of a 7-0 win over the laughable New York Jets. Yeeaah.
Big Plays: Fred Jackson's 59-yard run, all but 8 of his total yards, went to the Jets' 1-yard line and eventually resulted in a TD.
That same drive, the play before, Randy McMichael caught a 16-yard seam on 3rd and 15. Yep, 3rd and 15.
Brian Moorman punted extremely well: 4 punts, 171 yards.

Offensive Star: With all due respect to E.J. Manuel, Fred Jackson's 59 yard run, and 67 yards on 16 carries wins this award.
Defensive Star: 2 picks for George Wilson. Yep, 2 picks.

Re: Billt For Success: A Buffalo Bills Franchise

Now for a defensive rundown:

Defensive Line: Mario Williams is the big story, but this 3-4 is rounded out well by NT Kyle Williams and RE Michael Andersen, with Shawne Merriman as a viable 4th option.

Linebackers: Kiko Alonso, the incoming rookie, will need to make a big impact, because this is a bunch of ragtag players thrown together.

Defensive Backs: This is a position I'm looking forward to developing, as CBs Leodis McKelvin and Stephen Gilmore are very promising. Jairus Byrd at S is the backbone of this defense, and we may have found a complement to him, if George Wilson (2 INTs @ NYJ) keeps producing fairly well. However, he is 8 years into the NFL.

Re: Billt For Success: A Buffalo Bills Franchise

Well, we're 2-0, but I've got no idea how the Bills will look in 2 games. This game was the exact opposite of last week, full of Points and more Points. The Chiefs never held the lead, as E.J. Manuel threw his first two TD's, and Kiko Alonso took one to the house at the end of the first half. The running game was mostly Fred Jackson, as he ripped of consecutive double-digit carries to start the game... but carried 11 more times for 12 yards.
Big Plays: Alonso, but also a 20 yarder to Steve Johnson on third down, for a TD (Johnson has 2 catches this year, both 20+ yards).

Offensive Star: Give it to Manuel for his first two TD passes, no picks, and 182 yards.

Defensive Star: Much as Kiko Alonso deserves it, I'll hand it to Mario Williams for 2 sacks and 6 tackles as he kept Alex Smith nervous the whole day.

Re: Billt For Success: A Buffalo Bills Franchise

That may have been the worst game I have ever played. I was cringing during the entire second half. Basically, it was close, then it wasn't close. They scored 32 STRAIGHT POINTS. Again, this is the BROWNS. Brandon Weeden!!
Big Plays: Thad Lewis to Stevie Johnson for 66 yards and a TD was big, but way too late. Way, way too late.

Offensive Star: Thad Lewis was pretty good in relief, but Stevie Johnson takes the cake for 81 yards on 3 catches. He's having a good season, when he gets the football.

Defensive Star: We gave up 49 points. SO, this has become Defensive/Special Teams Star, and this game it's C.J. Spiller for 190 KR yards on 7 returns.
