Victor Cruz is no doubt one of the best receivers in the NFL. He has been Eli Manning's favorite and most reliable target as of late as well. When the Giants and Cruz couldn't come to terms on a long-term contract extension many Giants fans panicked. The Giants elected to use the franchise tag on Cruz, keeping him in town for a least one more year at $11.04 million.

"We hope to come to terms on a long term deal with Victor. Signing Cruz to a long term deal is our top priority." Team owner Jonathan Tisch stated after the franchise tag announcement was made.

With Cruz and Hakeem Nicks both up for new contracts many felt Nicks would be left out in the cold while the team focused on locking up Cruz. Nicks signed a five year deal worth a total of 50 million earlier this week.

"This is where I want to be. We felt like we were banging our heads against the wall so we decided to take a break and look at it again in a few months. The franchise tag was a mutual decision." Cruz stated.

The Giants may need to make some roster moves to free up the kind of money they will need to lock up Cruz long term.

HB - We need to add depth or an every down back to help David Wilson
FB - We need to replace Henry Hynoski
WR - We need a solid 3rd/4th receiver with the departure of Rueben Randle
LG - We need a starting caliber LG

MLB - We need a starting caliber MLB, CJ Mosley is our target
CB - We need a 2nd/3rd CB to replace Corey Webster

K - We need a kicker to replace Josh Brown
