UNF dominated rival FIU in the 2013 opener. With a total of 8 sacks (May have to look in to slider changes) FIU had trouble getting anything going on offense. The Pirates offense also struggled, but the great field position the defense gave the team meant a short field for the offense numerous times.
Freshman QB Taylor Caldwell played well and avoided mistakes, which allowed UNF to be successful. The running game took a while to get going, but eventually racked up 150 yards. The real momentum swing came in the 4th quarter when FIU QB Jake Medlock took a safety, putting the Pirates up 16-7. With another short field the Pirates scored again with just over a minute left to secure the victory.
