2014 Draft Recap

Glenn Robinson, Tackle, Auburn (2nd Overall Pick)

Possibly the best run-blocker in the draft, Robinson offers a valuable asset to a run-heavy offense led by Zac Stacy. The 6 ft 5 in, 332 pound tackle looks near unbeatable off the line.

Aaron Donald, Defensive Tackle, Pittsburgh (13th Overall Pick)

35 reps at the Bench Press and a 4.68 40-time has been added to one of the deadliest D-lines in the league. In his last season at Pitt, he racked up 59 total tackles and 11 sacks.

Lamarcus Joyner, Cornerback, Florida State (41st Overall Pick)

A finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, Joyner joins the Rams DB Squad at the 41st pick in the draft. The 5 ft 9 in. corner is an above-average tackler and gives the secondary much needed depth.

Tre Mason, Tailback, Auburn (75th Overall Pick)

In 2013, the Auburn superstar tailback Tre Mason picked up 23 touchdowns on 1816 yards, 134 of those in the final BCS National Championship Game against Florida State. Though he'll most likely find himself behind Zac Stacy and Benny Cunningham, he can provide himself as a valuable workhorse in the redzone. Especially behind Auburn teamate Greg Robinson.

Maurice Alexander, Safety, Utah St. (110th Overall Pick)

A former janitor at Edward Jones Dome, Alexander is a hard-hitting safety out drafted by his hometown team. Off-field actions caused Alexander to be dismissed from the team in 2012, but his 2013 return would give him All-Mountain West Conference Honor and his eventual drafting to the Rams. The only problem is his lack coverage skills, something the Rams need in their secondary.

2014 Draft Recap

E.J. Gaines, Defensive Back, Missouri (188th Overall Pick)

A very fortunate and great pick for the Rams. E.J. Gaines was one of the best, if not the best, corners in the SEC. Out of Missouri, Gaines put 75 tackles and 5 interceptions, a welcome addition to the Rams secondary.

Garrett Gilbert, Quarterback, SMU (214th Overall Pick)

The 6’3’’ 223 pound QB wasn’t drafted because he was extremely impressive at SMU. He was decent, and set many school records and finished with 49 career touchdowns before the draft. Give the big guy some time to develop, and he could be a long-term answer.

Mitchell Van Dyk, Offensive Line, Portland State (226th Overall Pick)
Portland State Van Dyk is a depth player on the o-line, most likely to backup Joe Barksdale if he makes the roster.

Christian Bryant, Safety, Ohio State (241st Overall Pick)

Adding more gas to the fire that is the competition at safety, Christian Bryant adds a ball-hawking, speed asset to the Rams secondary.

Michael Sam, Defensive End, Missouri (249th Overall Pick)

This young man has made history, being the first openly gay player to be drafted. A proud moment for the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. A super aggressive pass rusher with mad-determination to get to the QB, this Missouri defensive end joins his teammate E.J. Gaines on a destructive Rams defense.

Demetrius Rhaney, Center, Tennessee State (250th Overall Pick)

Another depth player, but has a chance to be the future center on this team with the oft-injured, veteran Scott Wells nearing the end of his career.
