2014 Draft Recap
E.J. Gaines, Defensive Back, Missouri (188th Overall Pick)
A very fortunate and great pick for the Rams. E.J. Gaines was one of the best, if not the best, corners in the SEC. Out of Missouri, Gaines put 75 tackles and 5 interceptions, a welcome addition to the Rams secondary.
Garrett Gilbert, Quarterback, SMU (214th Overall Pick)
The 6’3’’ 223 pound QB wasn’t drafted because he was extremely impressive at SMU. He was decent, and set many school records and finished with 49 career touchdowns before the draft. Give the big guy some time to develop, and he could be a long-term answer.
Mitchell Van Dyk, Offensive Line, Portland State (226th Overall Pick)
Portland State Van Dyk is a depth player on the o-line, most likely to backup Joe Barksdale if he makes the roster.
Christian Bryant, Safety, Ohio State (241st Overall Pick)
Adding more gas to the fire that is the competition at safety, Christian Bryant adds a ball-hawking, speed asset to the Rams secondary.
Michael Sam, Defensive End, Missouri (249th Overall Pick)
This young man has made history, being the first openly gay player to be drafted. A proud moment for the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. A super aggressive pass rusher with mad-determination to get to the QB, this Missouri defensive end joins his teammate E.J. Gaines on a destructive Rams defense.
Demetrius Rhaney, Center, Tennessee State (250th Overall Pick)
Another depth player, but has a chance to be the future center on this team with the oft-injured, veteran Scott Wells nearing the end of his career.
