--The Highlights--
The Panthers have had a very successful year. They won the American Conference and come into the Orange Bowl ranked 11th in the country. The Panthers and North Carolina were quick to find the scoreboard. Panthers QB McKeon struggled throwing the ball yet again today. He was pressured many times, which resulted in 3 INTs and a fumble. That did not stop the Panthers offense though. Panthers HB Lewis kept the ball moving on the ground. The Panthers offense found different ways to move the ball on the ground. The option, HB dives, and even given the WR a chance to run the ball. Lewis had a great end to the season having 176 yds and 3 TDs. The second half saw a little bit more defense from both teams. The Panthers managed to have a 10-point lead with 2 minutes left in the 4th quarter. North Carolina was storming down the field but got stopped from getting in the endzone and turned the ball over on downs to give the Panthers the win. The Panthers could expect to move up in the polls and have plenty of hope for next season.

Re: A New Regime: Pitt Panthers Dynasty (NCAA 14)

Offseason Update

Coaching Changes
DC Nathan Kendrick (1st season). He is entering his first season as a defensive coordinator at the collegiate level. He was a dominant coach at Greensburg Central Catholic, a local high school, and pursued the Panthers DC position once he found out that the position was open.

OC Jeff Lewis (4th season). Jeff Lewis might not have been a great option for the Panthers but definitely has some things to bring to the table. In a relatively young coaching staff he is the one with the most experience. Unfortunately, he has not been graced with being a part of a great team. His career record is 11-25. After seeing the previous season that the Panthers had Lewis definitely thinks that he can help the Panthers to even further improve the offense.

Players Leaving
Only senior graduates. WR Jermaine Wright is deciding to enter the NFL Draft. He has had a very successful career in the NCAA with the Panthers. He was chosen in the 3rd round by the New England Patriots. Because of his ability to catch and hold on to the ball the Patriots think that he will be a great asset for them as he progresses through his career. The Panthers wish him the best of luck as he begins his professional career.

Transfers

FS Peter Moore (63 ovr) Fr from Old Dominion

The Panthers got a good core of players. They grabbed defense focused around the front 7 to help the blitz and zone coverage of their 3-4. Some speedy linebackers might help to create even more pressure on the rush. The offense is a little bit different. One thing was clearly lacking in the Panthers arsenal, speed. QB Fletcher ran a 40-time of 4.52. The Panthers tried to use some of the option this year but Martin McKeon was not the best fit for that style. Also, the HBs and WRs currently on the roster are not the quickest players ever. The Panthers were trying to get a few players that could help open the vertical play on the field. HB Walker ran a 40-time of 4.42, and WR Minor ran a 40-time of 4.36, both look promising for outrunning defenses. The Panthers still have plenty of room for growth. But having the 32nd best recruiting class is definitely a step in the right direction.

Re: A New Regime: Pitt Panthers Dynasty (NCAA 14)

Preseason Report

This season the Panthers are joining the ACC. The NCAA found that the first year with the promotion/relegation system went well but had a few kinks in the system that might be worked out after a few years. One of the kinks was the lower tier teams being ranked high in the top 25. Pitt and Fresno State made it to the top 10 and Western Kentucky found their way to the top 20. The Panthers hope that this season is as good as last. They start the season unranked but are surely close to the top 25. The schedule this season is much tougher and the conference looks to provide a good challenge for the Panthers as they look for another promotion this year.

The Panthers decided to go with the redshirted freshman QB Anderson rather than Lane because Anderson is quicker and showed more agility and elusiveness during training camp. Lane is the backup in case Anderson gets injured or begins to struggle throughout the season. The Panthers defense is a mix of new and old. The front 7 are mainly the same players except for the MLB. SS Gipson is also a new face to join the starting 11 for the defense. Both Forte and Walker showed plenty of promise on special teams. Both had the ability to make big returns. HB Lewis ran for 1,331 yards last season. He is returning for his senior season and hopes to have another 1,000 yard season. WR Green also looks to have another fantastic season. As a freshman he had 778 receiving yards and 8 TDs. He is now filling the role that Wright had last season. Another note to make is that both starting G for the Panthers are freshman. McCullough and Clement did well during camp. Both did not let DE Harris and Reid intimidate them so the coaches are hoping that attitude translates the same on gameday.
