Game Notes
The Seahawks take to the road for the first time in 2014 to face former AFC West rival San Diego. The loser is going to be stuck with an 0-2 start, from which the odds of recovering for a run to the playoffs are not favorable. With this game coming 10 days after Seattle’s season opener, the 'Hawks have had extra time to rest and prepare, which should work to their advantage.

Re: Pete And Repeat

Fast-Starting ‘Hawks Belt Bolts

Done in by a 0-21 second quarter in their season opening loss to Green Bay, the Seattle Seahawks turned in a big quarter of their own this week, jumping out to a 14-0 first quarter lead on their way to a 17 point win over the San Diego Chargers. Although the Bolts were able to make it a field goal game by the end of the third quarter, the Seahawks scored the game’s final 14 points to win going away. After being limited to 15 carries due to the large halftime deficit in Week 1, Marshawn Lynch was a 28-carry bell cow who logged his first 100-yard game of 2014, and Russell Wilson threw another 2 TD passes to give him 4 for the year. On the defensive side, three players recorded multiple sacks as Philip Rivers was relentlessly harassed, and Ryan Mathews was held to 3.2 yards per carry. The victory got Seattle into the W column for the first time this season, while the Chargers fell to 0-2.

On the first play of the second Seattle series, Wilson uncorked a 69 yard touchdown strike to Doug Baldwin off a brilliant play-fake. Lynch capped the Seahawks’ third series with a 9 yard scoring sprint. Although the Seattle offense then went cool, the Bolts still could not break the shutout until only 1:32 remained in the half, when Rivers hit Eddie Royal for a 22 yard score, converting a 2-minute offense pick thrown by Wilson to Eric Weddle. On its second go-round, Seattle’s hurry-up offense generated a 42 yard Steven Hauschka field goal for a 17-7 halftime lead.

After the Chargers punted out of the first series of the second half and Hauschka missed a 52 yard try, San Diego drove to Mathews’ 3 yard touchdown run, which was the only score of the third quarter. Seattle responded with a 1 yard score by Robert Turbin, and after sacks on consecutive plays by Brandon Mebane put the Chargers in a 3rd and 29 and led to a punt, a 7 yard pass from Wilson to Ricardo Lockette accounted for the game’s final score.

Re: Pete And Repeat

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Feast And Famine

After throwing 6 TD passes in Week 1, Peyton Manning tanked in the Broncos' 17-9 loss to the Chiefs, posting a 53.4 rating with 3 picks and zero TD's while completing 29 of 41 for 225 yards.

Webster, G-Men Reunite

With the New York Giants placing cornerback Trumaine McBride on injured reserve with a dislocated hip, a reunion of the G-Men and Corey Webster has transpired. After missing 12 games in 2013 and having a poor season in 2012, Webster might already have seen his last game had New York not had a backfield need and turned to a player familiar with its defense. Walter Thurmond III is expected to take over at nickel, with Webster competing for the dime spot.

Game Notes
Here it comes: The Rematch. The Broncos have had this game circled in red since the 2014 schedule was released and they've been chomping at the bit to show that they can give a better account of themselves against Seattle than they did in the Super Bowl. But this time they're not on a neutral field and the Seahawks are looking to begin a new home winning streak after failing to defeat the Packers in the season opener. If the 'Hawks get the 6-TD Peyton Manning of Week 1 they could be in trouble. If they get last week's 0 TD, 3INT Manning, it should be all good.
