Re: The New Boys: Florida Southern Sharks Dynasty (NCAA 14)

September 4th, 2014 (David Sinclair)

"Last play of the practice!" Coach yelled as we broke from the huddle.

I got in my position behind Khalif, my roommate, and I stared right into the eyes of Staff.

"Ready! Set! Hike!" Khalif barked.

Khalif turned around and put the ball right in my chest.

I ran to the outside and made a juke on Gunner, but Everrett came out of nowhere and ran after me.

I spun right around that fool made my way to the secondary.

The last hope for the defense was James, but I let him know he was a fool when a laid the wood on his sorry a**.

Before I could get any farther, Coach blew the whistle.

I threw the ball on James to let him know I am the best.

"James, you are a sorry safety. I should play safety over you." I said.

"David, all you do is cause problems. We are a team here." He replied with a strong tone.

"Well we will not look like a team when I put up 200 yards Saturday," I replied with confidence.

"Break it up boys, we have a big game in two days." Coach yelled with anger.

"Maybe tell David to shut his mouth, or I will shut it for him." James said smiling.

"Oh yeah?!" I replied as a put a fist right into his face.

Khalif held me back, "David you need to chill. We need you on Saturday!"

Trainers came out to help out James. I am glad I taught him a lesson.

"Get out of here, all of y'all." Coach said as he helped out James.

Once, we got the the locker room, we all showered and got ready to leave.

Khalif stood up on a table and gave a short speech.

"We are a team, and that is what we need to be on Saturday." Khalif yelled.

"You guys need me!" I cheered, but this time it was a joke.

"Just shut up!" The guys yelled as they laughed.

"Slay the Gators on three boys...1...2...3!" Khalif barked as loud as he could.

"SLAY THE GATORS!" We yelled as we ran out of the locker room.

Harris Shines in Gators Victory

(Treon Harris trots into endzone after 47 yard run)

Today was the FBS debut for the Florida Southern Sharks. They showed plenty of promise, especially in the first half, but it was not enough to beat the Florida Gators. The first half started off with a nice drive that was topped off with a Tyler Jacobs touchdown reception. This drive showed that the Sharks were able to run the ball, as well as throw it. After a short drive by both teams, the Gators took the ball right up the field in a hurry, but the drive was stalled and ended in a field goal. The second quarter was by far the most exciting of them all. Florida Southern charged the ball down the field by way of some nice long balls by quarterback Khalif Boston. The drive ended in a David Sinclair touchdown run. It took the Gators less than one minute to answer. The Gators took the ball to the 47 yard line of the Sharks with ease. This is when QB Treon Harris broke free for a 47 yard run, and this was not even his best run of the day. Florida Southern took a more methodical approach to their next drive, but still scored on a Khalif Boston TD run. Florida answered quickly again with a 5 yard Treon Harris TD run. FSU did not give up as they put up seven more with 4 seconds to go in the half on a 43 Tyler Jacobs TD reception

The second half of this ball game was not nearly as exciting as the first half. The third quarter was full of swapped possessions, and no team could really get a grasp of the game. Although Florida quickly put seven more points on the board, they could not control the game like they were looking to. FSU also struggled offensively, especially on the ground. The O-Line looked very tired, and they did a very poor job of blocking for both of their running backs. Florida also put up a a field goal in the third quarter, but it was on a drive where they looked poor offensively. FSU had to punt the ball away another time which was something they did not want to with because Treon Harris had dominated the first half, and they knew he could turn it on at any moment. This punt did prove costly, and it did not take long for Harris to make them pay. He drove his troops down the field very quickly, and capped it off with another big run, this one for 41 yards. FSU finally found their offensive game that they had in the first half. The passing game shined on this drive, and it ended in a beautiful pass from Khalif Boston to Tyler Jacobs. Florida did not seems shaken, and they took the ball down the field another time, but this time it ended in a TD pass to Kelvin Taylor. FSU took the ball down the field knowing what they had to do. They got to the redzone, but on 4th and 5, a pass that was intended for TJ Youngblood hit a lineman and was dropped by David Sinclair.

All in all, this was a game of two halves. The first half was won by FSU and the second was won by Florida. Treon Harris was amazing, and I mean amazing. FSU's defense was not able to adjust well enough to stop him. I liked what FSU did offensively, on the other hand. The rushing attack worked very well in he first half, and I think it will not take long before they become a very balanced and great offense. Although they did not win today, they looked pretty well. They looked like a team that needs more heart, but I hope to seem them progress this season.
