Re: Flying Through the Big Apple - RoundingThird's New York Jets (M17)
I've attempted to play this game a couple of times, and each time I try, the lag in the game is worse than anything I've ever seen, and highlights will not save. When I fix this problem, this post will be edited and replaced by the game recap. Don't think for a minute that I'm stopping this CFM.

A lot of bigtime acquisitions, and a dominant win last week! enjoying the presentation, even if I'm not an NFL dynasty guy, it still stands out as a really good dynasty etc.

Appreciate it! That means a lot coming from a guy like you. I've been a huge fan of your work forever. I'm more of a silent follower, but still. Thanks!

Gameday Recap: Jets 37, Patriots 12
Jets annihilate Patriots, get season back on track
Todd Gurley disposes of Devin McCourty during this spin, en route to his 62 yard touchdown run in the first quarter, which set the tone for the rest of the day.
The Patriots are 1-4 and they have problems. There are the obvious ones, like how Bill Belichick’s famous defense is now atrocious, horrendous, and every synonym for “bad” that you can come up with. They were exposed by the Jets offense, which you can now say is clicking on all cylinders, putting up 82 points in the last two games. Marcus Mariota played a perfect game, except for one small error, an interception in the fourth that led to the Patriots final score of the afternoon. But, it didn’t matter, because he put on a show beforehand, and for a little while afterwards. Let’s get back to the Patriots. There’s also the problems you don’t see right away. They should be in sole possession of last in the AFC East, but Rex Ryan just won’t let that happen. He beat them a couple of weeks ago for Bills’ only win, but then keeps tanking himself.
The Patriots took the opening kickoff right down the field. Stuart McKinley looked pretty good, not only on this drive, but as a whole. He was faced with constant pressure from the Jets that led to a lot of passes thrown away. Leonard Williams had two first quarter sacks, but that was it in the sack department, although Williams, Wilkerson, Darron Lee, and Jordan Jenkins all got plenty of clean shots on the young Patriots rookie. Anyhow, the Patriots quickly ran into a wall when they realized that Dion Lewis would be completely shut down by the #1 ranked Jets run defense. When they got the ball inside the five, but couldn’t punch it in, things got fun. The Pats settled for a Gostkowski field goal, one of four on the day, extending the streak of touchdown futility against the Jets. You see, since Sam Freday took over the day to day operations of the Jets, the Patriots have not scored an offensive touchdown against the Jets. The last one? Gronk’s game tying score with under two minutes left in regulation in the Week 16 matchup in 2015, the game RoundingThird calls the best game, and best day, of his life.
Down 3-0, the Jets saw the ball for the first time all day, and only after a couple of plays, Todd Gurley broke free for a 62 yard touchdown, setting the Jets up for the offensive explosion that would occur. That Jets defense wasn’t playing lights out just yet. They gave up yards through the air, but I repeat, only gave up field goals. On the other side, a 3 yard hookup between Jackson and Mariota, the trust quickly forming between them made it 14-6 Jets, and capping a 6 minute drive. It was then when the Jets #1 ranked defense (coming into the day), started to do their thing. They forced a punt, got the ball back, and moved right into the end zone. However, they took a page out of the Patriots’ playbook by failing to get it into the end zone, getting a chip shot field goal from Nick Folk instead to make it 17-6. Another Patriots’ three and out followed, but Sheldon Richardson showed the MetLife crowd what he’s still capable of in his return to Northern New Jersey. He and Anthony Hitchens swarmed Mariota, hit him head on, and it was Richardson that recovered the fumble that resulted because of the hit. You try holding onto the ball getting nailed by two Patriots simultaneously. After yet another punt, the Jets had a couple of plays, and two timeouts, and just managed to get into field goal range before halftime. Nick Folk’s long field goal as time expired made it 20-6 going into the break.
T-Gurls shows the MetLife crowd who has the league's #1 rushing offense during the celebration of his 62 yard touchdown run.
The first drive of the second half finalized the Jets’ struggled to punch it into the end zone. Folk’s third consecutive field goal put them up 23-6, while Stuart McKinley led the one-dimensional New England offense into a black hole of punts. One particular Ryan Allen punt pined the Jets at their own 1. They got out of that, but had to punt soon thereafter, the only Jets’ punt of the day. Finally, McKinley broke through. You see, he was playing well, but for the first time this season, he didn’t have much of a run game behind him, so the fact that he had to rely on his arm and nothing but his arm made it seem that he played worse than he did. He threw for 230 yards, after all. That’s pretty good, considering the Pats had 5 punts and only 12 points. The Jets gave up yards, and certainly bent, but did not break once. Gostkowski proved his worth for the third time, and it was 23-9 early in the fourth quarter. That was when Mariota made his one mistake. He was scrambling out of the pocket, thinking about running it, but saw Jamie Collins and Alan Branch closing on him, so he put it up for Devin Smith/Gronk (they were in the same area), and it was instead picked off by the omnipresent Anthony Hitchens. That set up the finale to the Patriots field goal parade, with seven minutes left to play.
Taking a break from Gurley, the Jets decided to air it out. After all, it was 3rd and medium, and the came wasn’t completely over. Malcolm Butler bit on a play fake, and Mariota hit V-Jax over the top, with two or three steps on Butler, playing catch up on the play, but it was too late. Jackson was gone. He may be a veteran, but he’s still got some speed. It was 30-12, and after the years of embarrassment and heartbreak that the Patriots have provided to the Jets, it felt good to be on the right side of this blowout. A garbage time run by Todd Gurley in a failed attempt to get 200 rushing yard made it 37-12, and the Patriots limped off into their bye week at an abysmal 1-4, with multiple issues they need to fix. Billy’s going to be screaming at them in practice. I can’t wait to watch.
He gone! Mariota hits Vincent Jackson in stride, and the experienced, humble, vet took it the rest of the way without being touched, after Malcolm Butler bit on play action, a grand total of 75 yards on the pass and catch.
Because we're obligated to show Patriots highlights, here's Anthony Hitchens' sack and strip of Mariota on a massive hit to the ribs. Sheldon Richardson (99) was lurking nearby, and got the recovery.
