Stacy pens 1 year deal
Former Jet comes in to help Jones in the backfield
WAS: Like a bolt out of the blue, the Redskins announced today that they have acquired former Jet running back Zac Stacy on a 1 year deal that guarantees him just over $2,000,000.
With the Redskins suffering injuries to Thompson, Kelley and Marshall, they had gone into their opening 2 games with just Matt Jones as their viable ground game option.
Stacy's immediate availability put him on the Redskins radar, as well as his impressive rookie season that saw him bust for just shy of 1000yds and 7TDs. His recent efforts still leave a question mark on his production rate, especially a season ending injury that saw him wind up leaving the Jets due to a failed physical.
However with Thompson due to return and Jones having done alot of hard work in the opening weeks of the season, it gives the team something different and a new dynamic to bring to their offense as we move into the meat of the season.
Giant Effort!
4th quarter rally inspires New York to 2-1 record
Above: Washington watch the game slip away as Way's punt is blocked and returned to the house
NY: Another divisional matchup and another loss for the Redskins, as they watch the game turn on a blocked punt, allowing the Giants to outscore them 17-3 in a desperate second half.
Washington opened the score on a solid drive via Cousins that resulted in Matt Jones hustling in from close yardage. New York instantly replied with a deep pass from Manning to Jennings, that saw him soar home on a 72yd play.
After that the Redskins defense got on top and it was just rewards when recently acquired Zac Stacy trundled in from 4yds following a 12 play drive. Yet that would be as good as it got for the Redskins as New York stepped up their game, resulting in the game changing blocked punt.
The Redskins did stretch their lead a smidge thanks to a Hopkins field goal, but looking back they would rue failing to take advantage of a 1st and goal situation. After that it became all about the Big Blue with Jennings put the Giants ahead with a 13yd dash to the endzone, before a Brown field goal ticked the scoreboard over.
Kirk Cousins had just over 90 seconds to try and tie the game, however his drive would end up at midfield as he was picked off, sending the Redskins to a 0-3 start and staring down a barrel.
Courtesy message to say this one is on hold atm. Basically because im watching various Americas Games and they keep inspiring me to be another team... I need to fall in love with the Redskins again.
