Wolverines vs. The World || DavidTheGreat's Michigan Wolverines (NCAA14)

Them boys up to something.

Hello guys, and welcome to another year of me and my Michigan Wolverines dynasty! This time around, things will be different. Yes, the rosters are true to life; However, new challenges have arisen.

To add some historical context, the Michigan Wolverines collapsed to a 5-7 record in the dreadful 2014 season that culminated in the firing of Brady Hoke. Like my previous dynasty, The Victors Reborn, I will be faced with the task of changing the culture of the team, starting with...

The Jordan Brand.

But wait, didn't Michigan start wearing the Jumpman uniforms this year? Yes. However, this is an alternate universe. Adidas is long gone, and Michigan got the gear a year early.

Moving on...

I've been contemplating doing a dynasty this year, but school has repeatedly kicked me in the proverbial butt and there was at least a two-week delay in starting this dynasty due to all of the storylines I have in store here. This will not be your run-of-the-mill, detailed writing dynasty I myself have done in the past. Things such as the University of Michigan itself and more story-based headlines involving my head coach will occasionally show up.

I'd also like to give thanks to the OS community, not only the dynasty posters, but all those who made me enjoy playing NCAA Football. Without all of you guys, things would be different.

Anywho, enough of my blabber. Let's get it started!

Dynasty Settings:

Team: Michigan Wolverines (2015 roster, 2016 uniforms [Thank you TeamBuilder])
System: PlayStation 3
Roster: 2015-16 End-of-Season Roster
Slider Set: 50(ish) Threshold-based Slider Set for NCAA 14

Re: Wolverines vs. The World || A Michigan Wolverines Dynasty (NCAA14)

House rules are an important part in preserving the longevity of a dynasty, and I've always been reluctant to implement them. However, this time it will be different.

Winning was more of a tradition than a thing that had to be earned for me. However, I want to make this harder on myself because honestly winning everything, while hard to do, can get overly repetitive and boring. So starting in Season 2 (frankly, Season 1 is a feeling-it-out year to see what I need to do) I will be trying to limit myself using various house rules.

Recruiting is tougher for lower-level coaches, so not too many restrictions are going to be implemented at this point. Once I reach the upper echelon of levels, I will impose harder restrictions.

Regional recruiting restrictions for me are hard to follow, and at this point there are none. However, I will restrict recruiting like this:

- Restrict recruiting to real-life U-M pipelines (MI, OH, FL, CA, TX, MD) and the possibility of a few others (GA, NJ, IL, NC, SC)

- One unlocked recruit per year.

- Cannot scout until player commits (will be implemented Year 2)

- Incoming freshman receive realistic ratings boosts (spd/acc/agi should reflect 2016 ratings chart) and +15 lb to simulate an S&C program for QB, HB, WR, K, P, CB, and FS. (thanks Tearz49ers for the +15 lb idea)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Playbook/Scheme

- Year 1 I will be using the Stanford pro-style offense. Years 2 and beyond is kind of a toss-up. I like utilizing three-to-five-wide sets so a spread could be in the works.

- On defense, I usually run a 4-3, and with Michigan's personnel it's rightfully so. I plan on switching to a 3-4 style defense, similar to the way Alabama runs when I start getting my players in.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

House Rules, continued

- Cannot convince a transferring player to stay unless they are promised a starting spot the following year.

- Can only redshirt a freshman that cannot crack the two-deep rotation that year. For WRs and CBs this means anyone below 6th on the depth chart will be redshirted. The rest are 3rd and below.

- Cannot convince a player to stay in school for another year if they are guaranteed to be taken in the first three rounds. Players projected within the 4th-7th round can be convinced to stay, but I will limit myself.

- Starting in Season 2 I will be resetting my coach skill tree and only putting my levels into recruiting. The Game Management tree gives me an unfair advantage, making it much easier to win games. With no resources being put into that tree it evens out the games more.

- No-switch on defensive plays

Scheduling:

- In 2015, I took the OOC schedule from Michigan and used a random number generator to pick who I play from that conference. For example, they played two Pac-12 teams (Utah and Oregon State), a Mountain West team (UNLV) and an independent (BYU). I dice-rolled Arizona, Stanford, and San Jose State as my opponents.

- In 2016 and beyond, I will be using the real-life Michigan schedules for out-of-conference games. Undetermined games at those points will be replaced by a Power-5 team.

Michigan OOC games, 2016 and beyond:
Spoiler

Other house rules (thanks to jello1717)

- Supersim all special teams plays

- Adjust all incoming Kickers to have -20 KAC

- Lower every player that's >70 in AWR to 70 at the beginning of the season.

- Adjust players' INJ rating as follows to get more injuries:

Quarterbacks (-10)
HBs (-15)
WRs (-10)
TEs/FBs (-20)
Defense: all players (-40)

Summary:

Heading into the season fresh off a 5-7 record of the previous regime, Coach Johns revitalized the Michigan Wolverines with a spectacular debut season. Knocking off ranked Pac-12 opponents Arizona and Stanford in his first two games, first first loss came at the hands of Sparty in overtime. The Wolverines, led by senior QB Jake Rudock and breakout star CB Jeremy Clark, rattled off some more victories until losing to Ohio State in The Game. To end the season, Michigan played like the hottest team in the country, blowing teams out of the water en route to their first Rose Bowl appearance since 2007. In a spectacular showing against Arizona in a Week 1 rematch, the Wolverines dispatched Arizona's high-powered offense en route to victory.

2015:

Offensive Scheme: Ohio State (Spread)
Defensive Scheme: 4-2-5
