Pre-Season Week 4 News and Notes

- After looking dreadful in his last game, and pretty much his whole career, at quarterback, Arden Speed was about to be cut from another team, until Atlanta's new coach asked him how he'd like to put that athleticism to use at tight end. We'll see how he plays in the final pre-season game.

- The Falcons signed former TCU QB Brad Stephens to replace Speed in the depth chart.

- The quarterback battle between Christopher Young and Eric Tyler will continue this week. Also expect Martell Williams to get a little action this week.

Week 1 News and Notes: Starting QB Named

- A starting quarterback was named today as former Florida Atlantic Owl Eric Tyler was named the starter over incumbent Christopher Young.

- With converted quarterback Arden Speed playing well both blocking and catching at tight end, the Falcons were put in a position where they had five players (Speed, Tariq Jackson, Jay Pavik, Irvin Padilla, and Brian Woodson) that had earned playing time at the position. In order to free up space on the field, Atlanta sent veteran Jay Pavik to New England for a third round pick.

- With the secondary still banged up a bit, TJ Smith will get the start at cornerback with Caleb Hernandez. Those two will have the unenviable task of guarding Tampa Bay receivers Marquis Butler and Jethro King.

Were those 6 runs Stewart did off plays or were some from evading the pocket from broken pass plays? Awesome thread Man. Makes me so happy to see everything come together

I believe he had two scrambles. One was for a yard or two and the other went for about twenty. That TD was on a veer.
