Sad to see Jungling out. Was nice to see him making some plays.. Hopefully he comes back well rested and finishes with a strong sesason.
For sure, we have so many seniors in the class this season, plus some potential early exits to the draft and transfer that we will need to use basically all 25 available scholarships just to fill our roster out, and even then we may have space for a walk-on or two! With the random progression rolls I do, even those depth guys have a slim chance of lucking into a huge boost that gets them some playing time, though I definitely think a lot of them are players for the future.

It's a tough break for Jungling, because we honestly haven't had many injuries last for multiple weeks this season, and I think this is now his second one! It's probably the one position that is the toughest to lose a player of his caliber as well, because the replacements are either way worse talent wise or way slower, which is usually not ideal in that slot role. Thankfully, he should be back at the latest after missing games against 2-6 GT and 2-6 Duke and will be available to play 6-2 UNC and 5-3 Miami!

Around the NCAA: Week 10
Report by Matt Schmidlin | November 1, 2021

Top Storylines

Hokie Birds Claw Down Eagles -- #3 Virginia Tech continued their ascent of the ACC, taking down cross divisional challenger #20 Boston College in a blowout in Blacksburg, beating the Eagles, 49-25, behind another stellar performance from QB Travis Huff, who compiled 341 total yards and 6 TDs in the victory.

Dustin Off the Stat Sheet -- With Huff lighting things up in Virginia, Ole Miss star QB Dustin Young renewed his Heisman campaign with a 439 yard, 6 TD performance as the Rebels righted the ship in a 48-24 spanking of Texas A&M.

Sooners Never Say Die -- #1 Oklahoma used a 28 point fourth quarter to come from behind at home against Kansas State, shocking the upset minded Wildcats with a 35-28 win. The Sooners will take on #15 Iowa State this week after the Cyclones suffered their first defeat of the season, 41-28, at the hands of West Virginia.

Two of Top-5 Toppled -- Conference showdowns always bring wild swings in the national landscape, as both #2 Tennessee and #4 Michigan fell in conference play this weekend, ending their undefeated campaigns. Michigan lost in a rivalry contest against in-state for Michigan State, 38-31, while Tennessee lost on Rocky Top, 27-23, to an upstart Mississippi State squad.

Rivalries Don't Disappoint -- In a pair of rivalry matchups, youngsters were the stars of the show, both as Texas beat Houston and Alabama prevailed over LSU. For the Longhorns, freshman QB Jovanni Perry stepped in a accounted for 4 TDs (2 passing, 2 rushing) as the Longhorns stunned Houston, 34-31, thanks to a 21-7 fourth quarter margin. In Death Valley, sophomore HB Dareion Williams Jr. posted 3 of his 4 rushing scores in the final frame, leading Alabama past rival LSU, 36-34.

Week Eleven -- Marquee Matchups

#1 Oklahoma (9-0) @ #15 Iowa State (7-1) -- College Gameday Game of the Week
North Carolina (6-2) @ #2 Virginia Tech (8-0)
#5 Clemson (7-1) @ #19 Florida State (7-1)
#12 Penn State (7-1) @ #11 Michigan (7-1)
#17 USC (7-2) @ #16 Stanford (7-2)
#9 Alabama (6-2) @ #18 Mississippi State (6-2)

One Year Away for Struggling Yellow Jackets

When looking down the Georgia Tech roster, it's easy to fantasize about next season. It's also hard not to see that this season has been a struggle for the Yellow Jackets. The defense has some talented youngsters up front like Anthony Williamson and Ryan Griffin, but just gives up too many yards. The backfield is strong with Scott Brown under center and Phil Henry in the backfield, but they just don't score enough points. The Yellow Jackets are that far away, and have to hold onto hope that they can build things for 2022. Hopefully head coach (and former Pitt DC) Randy Bates can survive a tough first year in Atlanta and be given the opportunity to see this rebuild through after taking over for the departed Lane Kiffin, now OC at Alabama.

Matchup to Watch: Georgia Tech WR Paris Williams vs. Pitt CB Damian Vector

Georgia Tech always manages to keep things close with the Panthers, and if they are going to keep up with the Pitt offensive attack, the Yellow Jackets will need a big day out of their lone star, Paris Williams. The senior has had a bit of a down season, but still has an array of talent that should see him playing on Sundays next year. Pitt gave up a large chunk of yardage to Virginia through the air in their last outing, so expect Tech to try and force the rock to Williams, who is their best hope at replicating another Megatron in Atlanta.

What to Expect on the Field This Saturday

I feel like this one should be another comfortable win, though there's not really many of those when you start a freshman quarterback on the road. You should be able to move the ball against that defense both through the air and on the ground, and outside of Paris Williams, there's not really much on that GT offensive unit that's scary.

Yeah, you figure GT will be fired up for a primetime national TV game on a weeknight, but if you just look at the two teams it's clear there is a reason why they are 2-6 and we are 6-2, so as long as we play to our strengths it should be a win going away, but you never know with GT. They always seem to find a way to play us close in this dynasty.

Lot of flashy plays in this one, Keyes' one-handed grab was superb as well as that Kirk-Reynolds option! Good to have another (eventual) comfortable win and take care of business against a subpar opponent, and it's really nice to see Keyes put together a big statline like he was playing with Pickett again. Another clean game for Kirk is always a plus in his freshman season, especially coming down the stretch like this!

The fact you held G.T. to just 70 yds rushing was big. Crazy to actually see them finish with more passing yards then you.

Another nice day from Sibley helping out with the ground game.
