Man, I really miss the college football video game. The activity on this site to keep it alive and updated has prompted me to get back into playing college football. Listed above are the dynasties I have posted since NCAA 2007. That game, with Reggie Bush on the cover, is still probably the video game I have played most in my life.
So while I was thinking about what school I would take over, I wanted a rebuilding job. More specifically, I wanted a newer FBS program and I wanted to turn them into the next Boise State.
UMass has definitely struggled since transitioning to the FBS level. They have not won more than 3 games in a season as a FBS team. Mark Whipple took back over the program in 2014; previously he had led UMass to a NCAA 1-AA Championship in 1998. So there is a history of the school playing good football, but there have been few instances since then.
I will be simulating the 2017 season, with some updates about the Minutemen's season. My focus on this dynasty is realistically building UMass into a G5 power. I think it will take many seasons and I am excited about it.
As always, I will put time into articles and creating storylines in the dynasty. I will update recruiting classes with actual recruits and will also take any input I get from the OS community on how to improve this dynasty!
I can't wait to get started!
Dynasty Information
Platform: Playstation 3
Gameplay Level: All-American
Quarter Length: 8 Minutes
Sliders: Custom, always a work in progress.
Rosters: PS3 2017-18 Roster Community Project (OS)
Scheduling: Realism is the key. I will try to stick to the future schedule and also stick to how they usually schedule games.
Redshirts: I am allowed to redshirt true freshmen, transfers, and back-up skill position players.
Recruiting: All-American Level. I will have a specific recruiting territory and I will only be allowed 2-3 recruits outside of that territory per class.
In-Season Updates: Top 25 and Heisman watch will be updated every week. Team standings and individual statistics will be updated after the first four game, after the ninth game, then after the final game of the season.
In-Game: Choose one of the selected plays on First and Second Down. Then on third down, I am on my own. Try to create realistic statistics, so bring in back-ups if the game gets out of reach. Adjust sliders after every four games if needed.
