Brutal injury losses. That's definitely not going to help a team that's already fairly short in the talent pool, especially if he's out for the majority of the ACC season. You're going to find out who on your team is a pretender and who is for real very, very quickly!

You are 100% correct, it's a brutal injury for this team, especially this early on in the season but that's the luck of the draw (my injury system as this game sucks at realistic injuries). It could be a chance for someone to really stake a claim going into next year, with Carney leaving at the end of this season so the potential is there for someone that's for sure.

Love the pregame graphic, so clean, but can we get the UCF record in that table somewhere?

It is something I have been looking to add to the graphic, but now you mention the table, it's probably more possible there.. Will have a look for next week against Georgia Tech.

2018 SEASON PREVIEW.....2018 ROSTER.....2018 SCHEDULE.....

WEEK THREE

#17 UCF GOLDEN KNIGHTS (1-0, 0-0) AT. NORTH CAROLINA TAR HEELS (1-1, 0-0)

CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina -- If a first time head coach, straight out of high school football into the big time that is college football ever needed a statement game then Manny Drake most certainly got that today in the Tar Heels 31-7 victory over #17 UCF.

What makes this win the bit sweeter was the fact that nobody gave the Tar Heels a chance, before the game they were a massive 21 point underdog according to the majority of pundits that covered this game.

However just about everything went right for North Carolina (2-1, 0-0) today, whilst everything went about as wrong as it could do for UCF. The Golden Knights had just one first down going into the middle point of the second quarter whereas the Tar Heels had fourteen points thanks to Anthony Ratliff and Beau Corrales and to be honest it didn't get any better for Scott Frost's men who came into the game on the back of a fourteen game winning streak.

"Immense, utterly immense." Drake told ESPN's Holly Rowe after the game. "You don't get a more well rounded performance than that do you? They questioned whether we had it in us, this early on in a new begginging to compete, well that just showed you all right there, didn't it!"

North Carolina's defense, under the tutelage of defensive coordinator Tommy Thigpen held UCF to just 204 total offensive yards, allowed just 8 first downs all game and forced two turnovers whilst sacking UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton twice.

"One of them games really for me wasn't it," senior linebacker Cole Holcomb told the press after the game..

He was right, although recording just two tackles in the game; Holcomb was on hand to not only record an interception, he also stripped the ball out of UCF's sophomore receiver Gabriel Davis hands on what looked like a sure first touchdown drive by UCF in the fourth quarter.

"Coach told us to play hard and play fast," Holcomb continued. "You saw that today from everyone who put on that Carolina blue."

On offense, the Tar Heels (2-1, 0-0) were just as dominant as their defense. Led by Nathan Elliott who continued to throw dots all over the field again today were able to put up 416 total yards of offense and ironically it wasn't all through the air as it had been in previous weeks.

Antonio Williams an Ohio State transfer, and Jordon Brown combined for 216-yards and a touchdown on the ground. Brown's 51-yard scamper in the third quarter was the longest of his short career whereas Williams, who was on the hot seat coming into this game put up 112-yards on 17 carries.

Elliott, on the other hand, threw his seventh touchdown of the season when he combined with Beau Corrales for the second time today, an almost identical connection to their first touchdown. That's three games on the bounce now for Elliott without an interception thrown.

Elliott finished completing 15-of-21 for 193-yards and three touchdowns.

His counterpart, McKenzie Milton was held to just 180-yards and an interception in a game where many expected him to dominate a weak Tar Heels secondary. Adrian Killins Jr. was held to just 24-yards on the ground as his own personal struggles continue, with just 71 total yards so far this season.

UCF was already dead and buried with Milton scrambled home the Golden Knights only touchdown of the game in the later parts of the third quarter and his head coach acknowledged that fact after the game.

"I can't put my finger on one thing we did right today." Frost said after the game. "We were simply dominated in all fazes of the game and credit to the gameplan that was laid out by North Carolina today."

A key contributing factor to the game that may have been overlooked was Drake's hire of Glen Elarbee as his offensive coordinator at the start of the season. Elarbee was the offensive lines coach at UCF under Frost in the Golden Knights unbeaten 2017 season. Elarbee's offensive gameplan looked as if he knew what UCF was going to call on defense, and when they did he would switch up the play and therefore resulted in positive yardage on almost every play.

UCF's defense had just two negative tackles counter to the fact the Tar Heels had 18 first down's in the game.

Next week, the Tar Heels remain at home when they take on Georgia Tech (2-0, 1-0). The Yellow Jackets have already begun their ACC campaign with a win over Duke, although will be without offensive tackle Andrew Marshall who suffered a season-ending injury in that game.

North Carolina | Recruiting really begins this weekend for the Tar Heels.

Chapel Hill, NC -- Reports coming out of campus are that the Tar Heels will host two prospects this weekend when they host Georgia Tech (2-0, 1-0) at Kenan Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon, a short list that includes four-star North Carolina native quarterback Jadon McKinney (6'4", 203lbs, 4.70 40-time), McKinney is the nations sixth-ranked overall quarterback and 216th ranked player in ESPNU's Top-300.

The other prospect joining McKinney on campus this weekend is three-star offensive tackle Walter Clark (6'3", 278lbs, 440 BP, 640 SQ). So far, North Carolina and head coach Manny Drake are yet to have a single player committed to their 2019 recruiting class but there is a very high chance that this could change after this weekend.

247Sports Crystal Ball is predicting that North Carolina has a 70% chance of securing Jadon McKinney ahead of N.C. State, South Carolina, Wake Forest, and Duke; McKinney currently has scholarship offers from N.C. State, South Carolina, and North Carolina respectively.

Clark, on the other hand, has already cut his list down to just two schools, even this early into the season, those two schools are North Carolina and Duke. Like McKinney, Clark is a North Carolina native but holds Duke on par with North Carolina going into his official visit this weekend.
