Re: The British Are Coming - A London Bulldogs Franchise

WEEK ONE
CINCINNATI BENGALS (0-0-0)
VS
LONDON BULLDOGS (0-0-0)

LONDON FALLS IN 2020 HOME OPENER
JUSTIN HERBERT WAS PICKED OFF THREE TIMES IN HIS FIRST NFL START

London's new NFL stadium was at max capacity for the Bulldogs' inaugural home opener, but the fans had little to cheer about as rookie QB Justin Herbert threw three interceptions in his first NFL action in a 31-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Herbert completed 63% of his passes for 248 yards and a touchdown, but showed his inexperience with the speed of the NFL by throwing three picks and finishing with a QB rating of 58.6. Kenyan Drake didn't fare much better on the ground, being held to 38 yards and a touchdown off 14 carries for an average of 2.7 yards per touch. Drake also logged two catches for 32 yards. One offensive bright spot was the play of rookie wide receiver Collin Johnson, who led the team with nine catches for 91 yards. Defensively, Reshad Jones (SS) and Xavien Howard (CB) each recorded an interception, Raekwon McMillan (MLB) led the team with nine tackles, and Margus Hunt (DT) had two sacks as he started in place of the injured Christian Wilkins at defense end.

Cincinnati got off to a 14-0 lead midway through the 2nd quarter and never looked back. Up 14-6 at halftime, the Bengals opened the 2nd half by outscoring the Bulldogs 17-0 en route to an easy victory. Andy Dalton completed 64% of his passes for 235 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions, and also had a two-yard rushing touchdown. Rodney Anderson led the charge on the ground with 23 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown, while Trayveon Williams had 21 yards and a score off nine carries. John Ross III was a popular target through the air, catching six balls for 81 yards, while tight end Tyler Eifert led the team with 7 catches for 58 yards. Tyler Boyd was the only man to score through the air, and finished with three catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Preston Brown (MLB) led a strong effort with eight tackles and 1.5 sacks, while Kyle Van Noy (OLB) recorded six tackles, one sack, and an interception. Cincinnati recorded four sacks and three interceptions in total.

The season won't get any easier for the Bulldogs (0-1) as they will hit the road to face off against the New England Patriots (1-0), who opened the season with a 28-25 road victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. Cincinnati (1-0) will return home to host the Baltimore Ravens (1-0), who scored a surprising 29-26 win over the defending champion Cowboys in week one.

Re: The British Are Coming - A London Bulldogs Franchise

-Christian Wilkins (DE) has been cleared to play and will return to the starting lineup in the Bulldogs' week two game against the New England Patriots (0-1).

-Denver's 4th overall pick Jerry Jeudy (WR) suffered a shoulder tear in the team's 27-24 opening win over the Golden Eagles and will miss at least a month. Jeudy had two catches for 24 yards and a touchdown before going down.

Re: The British Are Coming - A London Bulldogs Franchise

WEEK TWO
LONDON BULLDOGS (0-1-0)
VS
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (1-0-0)

HERBERT OUTDUELS BRADY FOR FRANCHISE'S 1ST WIN
THE BULLDOGS ARE WINLESS NO MORE AS A FRANCHISE AFTER SHOCKING THE PATRIOTS 33-31

No one expected London's first win as a fledgling franchise to come on the road in Foxborough against the legendary Tom Brady and the Patriots, but the NFL is always full of surprises. Justin Herbert rebounded nicely after a rocky first start, throwing for 374 yards and two touchdowns as the Bulldogs held on late to give New England their first loss of the season in a 33-31 win.

The Patriots took an early 7-0 on their first offensive drive of the day, and then responded to a London touchdown with a breakaway 75 yard run by James White to take a 14-7 lead, but the Bulldogs controlled the 2nd quarter as Herbert threw his second TD pass of the day and Sanders added a 34 yard field goal to give the team a 17-14 lead at halftime. Sanders would add three more field goals in the 2nd half as each team struggled to punch the ball into the endzone, and the score sat at 26-17 with less than 12 minutes to play. The Patriots narrowed the gap to 2 points behind James White's second rushing touchdown of the day, but their defense couldn't stop London from responding with a methodical drive that chewed up nearly five minutes of clock and culminated with a 4-yard rushing TD by Kenyan Drake. Brady added a 48-yard pass to Julian Edelman to put his team in position late in the game, but the Patriots couldn't recover the subsequent onside kick, and the Bulldogs ran out the remainder of the clock.

Herbert was imppressive in his first road game, completing 68% of his passes for 374 yards and two touchdowns in hostile conditions, and finishing with a QB rating of 106.1. His favorite target was rookie wide receiver Collin Johnson, who had nine catches for 85 yards and a score. Mike Gesicki (TE) also had 9 grabs and 78 yards, and Albert Wilson had 77 yards and a touchdown on four catches. As for the ground game, Kenyan Drake rushed for 58 yards and a 4th quarter touchdown on 18 carries for an average of 3.2 yards per touch. But perhaps the biggest offensive contributor was kicker Jason Sanders, who hit all four of his attempted field goals, including a 52-yarder in the 4th quarter to give the team a nine-point lead. Defensively, Xavien Howard (CB) had two tackles and forced and recovered a fumble.

As for the Patriots, Tom Brady completed 70% of his 30 attempted passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns. His favorite target was Antonio Brown, who led the team with 7 catches for 99 yards, while Julian Edelman finished with 102 yards and a score on five catches. James White led a solid rushing attack, racking up 117 yards and two endzone trips off 21 carries for an average of 5.5 yards per carry, which included a 75-yard burst to the endzone in the 1st quarter. The defense was led by J.C. Jackson (CB), who had a team-leading 10 tackles, while Julian Okwara (OLB) had four tackles and 1.5 sacks in the loss. But it was the defense who was mostly to blame for the loss, as they couldn't stop the methodical pace of London's offense. The Bulldogs controlled the ball for over 37 minutes of play.

London will stay on the road next week for their first primetime game as they face off against Derek Carr and the Denver Broncos (1-1-0) on Thursday Night Football. Meanwhile, the Patriots will host the New York Jets (1-1-0) in what the team hopes will be a rebound game.

Re: The British Are Coming - A London Bulldogs Franchise

WEEK THREE
LONDON BULLDOGS (1-1-0)
VS
DENVER BRONCOS (1-1-0)

LONDON SURVIVES WILD 4TH QUARTER FOR 2ND WIN
HERBERT LOOKS LIKE THE FUTURE OF THE TEAM AFTER THROWING LONDON TO ANOTHER WIN

London may have fallen flat in their home opener, but their road performances have been something else entirely. Herbert has thrown for over 750 yards and five touchdowns with just one interception in his two games on the road as the Bulldogs surprised yet another team with a 34-27 victory on Thursday Night Football.

With 10:22 remaining in the 2nd quarter, the Bulldogs took a 14-7 lead on Gus Edwards' 4 yard TD run and never lost it again, matching every score Denver put up on the board for the remainder of the game. The teams put on an offensive show in the 4th quarter, posting 28 points in just over 6 minutes of play. The game came down to the final minutes after Denver forced a defensive stop late in the game and had one last chance to tie it up, but the offense sputtered out in the closing seconds of the game.

Justin Herbert had another outstanding performance, completing 66% of his passes for 379 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. His favorite target was Albert Wilson, who had seven catches for 99 yards and two touchdowns in an elevated role after rookie sensation Collin Johnson went down early. Johnson had three catches for 32 yards before leaving the game with a mild concussion, and while he didn't return to the game, he is unlikely to miss any additional time. Robert Foster, who was claimed off Toronto's practice squad just before week one, made a splash with his first catch of the season as he went 84 yards to the house in the 4th quarter. Groundwise, Kenyan Drake led the charge with 68 yards on 22 carries, while Gus Edwards had a 4-yard TD run. As for the defense, Raekwon McMillan (MLB) led the team with nine tackles, and defensive ends Emmanuel Ogbah and Christian Wilkins split the only sack of the day for the Bulldogs.

On the other side of the ball, Derek Carr had a very average outing, completing just 57% of his 38 attempted passes for 301 yards and two touchdowns. With star rookie Jerry Jeudy (WR) sidelined due to injury, DaeSean Hamilton led the receiving corps with five catches for 54 yards and a score, while tight end Noah Fant added 59 yards off five grabs. Geronimo Allison only had three receptions, but made the most of them, tallying up 95 yards and a touchdown. Phillip Lindsay had a solid day on the ground, carrying the ball 23 times for 101 yards and a score for an average of 4.3 yards per carry. Defensively, Josey Jewell (MLB) led the team with nine tackles and an interception, and the Raiders front seven managed two sacks on the day.

The Bulldogs will return home to London next week to host the surprising New York Jets (2-1-0), who have scored victories over the Rams and the Patriots this season. As for the Broncos, they'll get a week of rest before hitting the road to play the Jets in week five.

Re: The British Are Coming - A London Bulldogs Franchise

WEEK FOUR
NEW YORK JETS (2-1-0)
VS
LONDON BULLDOGS (2-1-0)

DEFENSE STIFLES JETS IN FIRST HOME VICTORY
THE BULLDOGS EXTENDED THEIR WIN STREAK TO 3 WITH A 32-24 WIN OVER THE JETS

Christian Wilkins (DE) stuffed Le'Veon Bell in the endzone for a safety midway through the first quarter to put the first points on the board in a play that would set the tone for the remainder of the game. The Jets managed less than 300 yards of total offense, and the Bulldogs won their first home game in franchise history to extend their win streak to three games.

Justin Herbert threw two interceptions on the day, including one that was returned for a touchdown at the end of the first quarter, but he also completed 67% of his 50 attempted passes for 375 yards and three touchdowns. DeVante Parker led the receiving corps with eight catches for 112 yards, Collin Johnson also had eight grabs for 52 yards and a touchdown, and Albert Wilson racked up 78 yards and two scores off 7 catches. Drake continued to struggle on the ground, gaining just 56 yards off 18 carries, while Gus Edwards had four touches for 19 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Raekwon McMillan (MLB) led the team with seven tackles and a sack, Emmanuel Ogbah (DE) had two sacks, Margus Hunt (DT) recorded a sack in limited play, and Christian Wilkins (DE) record the team's first defensive points of the season with a safety.

Sam Darnold was under fire all day, completing just 51% of his passes for 168 yards and a touchdown for a QB rating of 78.4. His go-to target was Christopher Herndon IV, who had five catches for 50 yards and a score. Le'Veon Bell only saw 11 carries on the day, but made the most of them with 106 yards and a touchdown, including a 75-yard scamper to the endzone in the 2nd quarter to give the Jets their first and only lead of the game. As for the defense, Avery Williamson and Marcus Maye each recorded an interception, and Maye returned his all the way to the endzone for a touchdown. Kamalei Correa had six tackles and 1.5 sacks as the Jets recorded four sacks on the day.

One of the most surprising stories in the NFL this year, the Bulldogs will hit the road once again next week for a tough matchup against Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks (3-1-0). As for the Jets, they'll play host to the Denver Broncos (1-2-0), who are well-rested following their early bye week.
