Bet Willy Korn wished he put up #'s like that in real life. To be honest I had to google him because I couldn't remember if he was a real player or not.

After reading about what happened to him in real life, I am pulling for him to win the Heisman in a video game.

His story is pretty crazy and really a cautionary tale about recruiting rankings, though his failures on the field were strictly because of awful injury luck. Seems like he's carving out a good coaching career in real life however, serving as Coastal Carolina's OC the last two seasons. He'll probably have a head job within the next 5-10 years.

Tartans, Quakers to Clash in Motor City Bowl
Carnegie Mellon will make its second straight bowl appearance on Dec. 26, taking on Penn in Detroit

by Jayson Thomas, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reporter

DETROIT, Mich. -- It will be a meeting between two academically prestigious Keystone State universities in the Motor City Bowl, as Carnegie Mellon and Penn was announced as the matchup during ESPN’s annual bowl special this evening. The game is set for Dec. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and will be aired nationally on ESPN2.

CMU is 0-2 all-time against the Quakers, falling 25-0 in 1908 and 19-6 more recently in 2007.

Penn enters this matchup at 6-6 overall and finished third in the Ivy League with a 4-3 mark. The Quakers defeated UAB (31-26) and Rice (38-7) in non-conference, while suffering losses against Oklahoma State (7-49), No. 6 Florida (17-56), and Rutgers (14-28). Penn is coming off a 20-13 defeat to Dartmouth to end the regular season, snapping a three-game winning streak in the league.

Notre Dame transfer and All-Ivy League First Team runningback Armando Allen leads the Penn offense, accounting for 20 touchdowns (14 rushing, 6 receiving) and 1,757 yards (1,214 rush, 543 receiving) of offense. Another transfer, Moe Brown of South Carolina, eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving with 1,004 on 74 catches, adding six touchdowns. Junior quarterback Justin Brown is in his third season as the starting signal-caller, and posted a 129.2 rating and 2,385 passing yards, with 20 touchdowns against 16 interceptions.

The defense features a pair All-Ivy First Team selections in freshman defensive end Paul Powell (42 tackles, 7 sacks, 3 FF) and junior outside linebacker Justin Lamb (56 tackles, 1 sack, 2 INT, 4 FF, 3 FR). Penn ranks seventh nationally in fumbles recovered (10), but has forced just 11 interceptions (t-104th FBS) and convert 32 percent of third downs (t-108th FBS).

Fifth year of the report, first two seasons were on NCAA 07, then the offseason of Year 2 and everything beyond has been on NCAA 08 due to me mistakenly deleting the file.

Luck was created in the first NCAA 08 offseason recruiting class and signed with Texas Tech (alongside RG3 and Terrelle Pryor), and then Barkley was part of the next class. I've created about 5-10 real life recruits in each class (with hometowns and everything else matching their real life counterparts), and editing about 60-80 overall with real names (by finding a CPU-generated recruit that best fits their skillset before editing height/weight/etc) to allow the future of this report to continue to have real players in it. That's my plan for the duration, as well as keeping the NFL portion going so that I can keep tabs on both my CMU players and the real-life recruits that have entered this dynasty.

Butler Runs Away with Randy Moss Award
CMU’s freshman return specialist scored six touchdowns via kick or punt, five more than anyone else in Division I FBS

by Alicia Brown, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporter

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- Wally Pipp was regarded as one of the best power hitters of baseball’s dead ball era, but a severe headache one day in 1925 forced him to miss a game and a kid named Lou Gehrig took his place at first base for the New York Yankees.

Redshirt sophomore cornerback Jon Crowell can now emphasize with Pipp 85 years later.

Forced into the primary kick returner role after Crowell’s season-ending ankle injury in the 2010 opener, freshman wide receiver Kelvin Butler grabbed the baton and never looked back, capturing the Randy Moss Award for the nation’s top kick returner this evening at ESPN’s 20th College Football Awards Ceremony.

Butler, a native of Madeira, Ohio, lapped the rest of the NCAA Division I FBS field in the returning categories, scoring six touchdowns – three each from kicks and punts. He averaged 24.1 yards over 40 kick returns with a long of 93, and 13.1 yards over 35 punt returns with a long of 85.

“I’m really honored and blessed to receive this award,” said Butler. “Being dangerous in the return game is something I’ve always prided myself on, and I knew coming to CMU that I could make an immediate impact on that front. Our entire special team unit deserves this award though, because they’re the ones who make the blocks and allow me to help the team out on returns.”

“It’s funny that you bring up (Wally Pipp) because how this old soul would describe it as well,” added CMU head coach John Elliott with a laugh. “We were really sorry to see Jon (Crowell) go down in the opener because he makes a difference both on defense and returns, but Kelvin (Butler) really just went full steam ahead with his opportunity. It’s easy to point to his speed as the reason to why he’s so successful, but he really reads the field well and knows when he should take his chance or just settle for something more modest.”

The aforementioned Crowell earned Associated Press Freshman All-America honors as a return specialist last season, averaging 21.8 yards per kick return and 10.7 yards per punt return to go along with a punt return touchdown.

Butler joins Steve Breaston of Michigan (2006), Larry Taylor of Connecticut (2007), Orlando Scandrick of Boise State (2008), and A.J. Wallace of Penn State (2009) as winners of the Randy Moss Award. He is the first freshman to gain the honor, and his six touchdowns are four more than any other winner.

Haha, I have to wonder if you are moonlighting as a dynasty reporter outside of your own daylight shift as an actual reporter, as some of your callbacks and phrasing is sensational. Love the out of the blue reference to Wally Pipp, that's a great historical pull that ties right into your dynasty, haha. Talk about a prolific season, that is gigantic to be able to have a home run hitter like Butler who can change the game. Must be something in the water in Madeira, OH, as Ceno Rodgers III will find his way out of there a decade later! Excited for the bowl game with Penn, hopefully it will be a solid send off for the CMU legend Justin Keyes.
