it was just good times with the guys. Unknown-4.jpeg

Spring training has come to an end. Here's the starting roster for the upcoming
season
Coach Funa on spring training -''The linebacker unit played with the most consistentsy. The defensive line showed some flashes o talent but the unit is still young. As for the secondary Sophmore Joel Williams made some nice strides as spring training was coming to an end.
Quaterbacks - There wasn't too much separation from each other at this position
the starting job was handed to senior Charles Mcgill as he played the most consistent and showed good poise.
Running Backs - Anthony West Looks like a dependable player on the offensive side of the ball he has good size and also has some speed to get downfield in a hurry.
Wide Receivers - Andre Van and Greg White will be our starters they provide different things at the position greg white has great speed and can strech the field. Andre Van runs good routes and shows good body control.
Tight Ends - Joey Chambers has quick feet and knows how to get the chains to move with surprising elusiveness. he's undersized but doesn't play like it.
Offensive Line - Senior Tate Dailey is our captain he plays with heart and makes sure you are aware of your assignment. Steve Mccall will be starting as a freshman. He's strong at the point of attack and I'm excited to coach him.
Coach Funa on the loss - ''We had quite the lead in the first half. The game plan that we worked on in practice worked well in my opinion. its hard to win a game when you have a lot of turnovers. Im not throwing any shade on any player but 5 turnovers is a lot. If you go by the stats this game could've been a win for us.we had almost 200 total yards more than them and we still lost. In the fourth quarter we had the lead and it just seemed like our players seemed a little tired and exhausted on the field. Im going to talk to the strength and conditioning coach about it and make sure that these men are prepared for the kind of challenges they'll have .They scored with less than a minute left leaving the door open for overtime. I am proud of our guys and of the resilliency they showed. We heard of a lot of talk about how this game was going to be a blow out or a cake walk but that's not what happened. We have to regroup and prepare for Northwestern this is another game where either team can win.''
Syracuse faces off against another big ten opponent. Syracuse has Players to look out for - Syracuse mlb Anthony Bullock Bullock had 8 tackles against penn st. on offense hb Anthony West rushed for 143 for 1 touchdown.
Northwester impact players are strong safety Corey Justice he has good speed, can tackle, more of a zone coverage guy but can also play in the run game. He managed to get 3 deflections and 1 interception in their first game against cal.
Quarterback Kyle Lewis is a dual threat quarterback He threw for 269 and score against cal and rushed for another 65 yards.

Coach Funa on the loss - ''I Feel like most of this loss falls on me. It was the same scenario we've proven that we can score with the best of them. In the first quarter we established a 14 to 10 lead. In the second quarter we could only get 3 points while they scored 10. then in the 3rd we scored 14 to 7 momentum switched. Then in fourth quarter we couldnt do anything to stop them on defense or score anymore. It was like they knew our game plan and attended our practice . On the flip side of things the defense is still getting acclimated to the playbook
and knowing what their responsibilities are when I call certain plays. The extra practicing did look it paid off as far as conditioning goes. Me and the student athletes are both learning together. In the film room theyre picking up on audibles quicker and looks more impressive.Im going to stick with what we have going now to maximize what we get out of our players but also have them prepared for pro football. On the recruiting scene we have yet to secure a commitment I'm new to recruiting but I've been making relationships with players and coaches. This program hasn't won a national title since 1959 and I want to stay until that's been accomplished. Also having the accolade of a broyles seems inviting to me. Me and my family love the area and have felt the same type of culture that I want here at this university.
