Whatever's good for the team. Usually under 25 is my rule with a focus on having stars that count towards the home-grown minimum.

However, sometimes a good vet can put a good young team over the hump to a league title. So if I've got the money, I'm not against getting a 30+ guy for a year or two if he has something in the tank. It's especially nice if I can get them on a free.

I mostly go the Arsene Wenger route but occasionally I buy position needs.

Christian Grindheim. I don't know why, but everytime I sign this guy, he's magic. Pure magic. One of my other saves I was at Stoke, and closing in on relegation, I sign Grindheim, and boom, I'm top 8

In my ManU save I had on FM12, basically got some younger guys to come through after the older players retired/became useless, also picked up some wonderkids (ie. Carlos Fierro) just to beast it out in a couple of seasons.

My buddy and I talk about Leigh Griffiths as if he were a childhood friend of ours. We've been signing him since he was 17 and he never disappoints.
