I seriously can't believe how hard this is to wait until May. I know it will be well worth the wait, but I feel like I need to play The Show now. My wife thinks I will crack..

LOL, I hear you there. I keep saying I can't wait for May to get here and my wife would asked "why? because of anniversary?" and I would reply "NO, because baseball comes out in May". Lucky for me she is very understanding about my obsession of baseball.

Fear not, because if the PS4 version plays as well as the PS3 version with updated graphics and animations it is going to be amazing!

I'm not expecting them to reinvent the wheel anytime soon, because as previously mentioned the gameplay in this series is immaculate as it is. I think subtle tweaks year to year that increase the realism marginally are going to be the ticket heading into the next-gen (or current gen for myself and most here I assume.) Things like dynamic crowds that react realistically according to situation and get appropriately loud and quiet more quickly, realistic stadium lighting, and my personal wish, real time bat/ball physics, and just a gluttony of little things that the PS3 wouldn't be able to handle in addition to their already basically maxed out experience. The Show has been a series for a while now that has the core fundamentals of their game solidly in place and prioritized, and I think with the PS4 they're going to just be able to add so much more to it it's crazy. Not to mention that the graphics will be taking a serious jump as well this gen. It's truly a good time to be a PlayStation owner baseball fan. because honestly I think PS3 or PS4 you can't lose with these guys. I'd love to see them able to expand and take on other projects as well. With their knack for nailing down the little things I'd love for them to be able to take on an NHL game.

Things I'd love to see during this generation:

- Presentation needs to be revamped. I'm talking the 3 man booth as well as the general atmosphere of the ballpark, the camera angles on replays, etc. I would love it if they could get a presentation license from ESPN or something, but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon so I won't get my hopes up. One thing they should be able to do without spending a single dollar, is stop putting "MLB The Show 14" advertisements on every single billboard lol. I know they can't use real company names, so why not make up ones like Triple Play used to do? Remember Lobster Cola? Why can't the Coca-Cola sign in right field at Citi Field say Lobster Cola instead of "The Show"? Just make up funny fake company names rather than putting your own baseball game's name everywhere. I already bought the game, you don't need to advertise to me lol.



- recapture and smooth out all the animations and player locomotion, especially swinging animations. There are some cringe-inducing choppy/jerky/robotic motions towards the end of a lot of swings and follow-throughs. I want the player movements to look life-like and smooth.

- retractable roofs

- Just keep expanding RTTS and Franchise, making them deeper and more immersive. I love RTTS and it's my favorite mode of any sports game, but it's not very immersive.

- Actual real-time view of your player wearing his actual gear and accessories in the player edit screen, instead of the generic red/white/blue stuff. I know this wasn't possible on PS3, but you'd think it would be easily doable on PS4. For all we know this is included in this year's game, but I've asked devs on here and they haven't said one way or the other.

- Keep perfecting the ball physics, trajectories, etc. They are already very good but there's always room for improvement. I think the hit varieties could be a little better.


- Fielding animations and player movement while fielding, especially in the outfield, needs a lot of work. A player sprinting in the outfield to run down a long fly ball looks nothing like a player sprinting in real life. Same thing on the basepaths. I guess this kinda ties into my 1st thing about recapturing and smoothing all animations and player movement.

I'm going to be doing some major quick games before I create my rtts player! I might look on ebay in late April for some early copies, maybe I'll get lucky! I think I jinxed the Yanks, I said they'd be 3-0 to start the season. lol! People on talk radio are crazy, someone actually wants to put Cc in the bullpen! hahahaha!

I just watched an online game and it was terrible a lot of lag and glitches. So I'm wondering is the PS4 version going to be any better? I want to do an online franchise but if it's always like what I watched I will just stick to offline.

Honestly, I've never really even played The Show, but I mainly bought a PS4 because of this game and already know it's going to be awesome because of my friends reports and reading these forums. However, I would hardly go as far as saying this gameplay/game is near perfect. There is no such thing as a perfect game, especially a sports game. It may be awesome and the best product available as far as baseball sims go, but lets not fool ourselves into thinking there isn't a lot of work needed to be done. I'm sure that is not the approach San Diego Studios is taking, we should always be striving to be better.

A-FREAKING-MEN! I realize the commentary engine is set/maxed for PS3. MLB 15 is the opportunity to make a clean break.

Totally agree. The overabundance of the game logo kills realism.


Great points - I think they are constructive and very achievable moving forward with the PS4.

If so Im gonna get a PS4 earlier than the Batman release if you know what I mean .
