Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Watching this stream you can really get a good idea of just how detailed everything is when there's a minimal amount of motion on the screen - like when it focuses on one player. Just amazing, and I know it'll look even better when you actually play.
There are definitely some lighting issues scattered around, especially with things that look like they should be turned on, but aren't. Busch has been well documented, but it doesn't look like the equivalent of Fenway's Citgo sign lights up either. These things do light up on the PS3 version (or are at least more visible against the rest of the graphics), so it really just seems like a bug and not really designed that way. Hopefully these can be patched (or already have been, for all we know).Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
The way I see it with the lighting issue, that obviously busch stadium was talked about a lot yesterday on several threads and now we are seeing that PNC suffers from it too, and Ramone has been logged on here quite a bit yesterday and didn't even give the slightest bit of acknowledgement on the issue So they are either aware of the issue and working on trying to fix it with a patch shortly after release and just staying quiet on the subject because it will get fixed, or it not a main concern for them and they have other issues that effect gameplay to attend too so a issue with lighting maybe be addressed for next year.Comment

I would think it needs to be patched, but from the way it works, I also believe they wanted it like that.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
That new camera is already more difficult to find the ball......adding all that other background light probably was not helping.
Right or wrong...like it or not....to me this seems logical in the reasoning.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
P_rushing, & Knight that does seem logical, although it seems to not be the case for every stadium, PNC and Busch are two that are noticeably darker in centerfield from that view, which is fine I can live with it. just seems odd that some stadiums have their team name logo signs illuminated like in real life and others don't like Atlanta's braves sign in center field and of course Busch. however this subject has been covered in numerous threads and I can't seem to stop talking about it. so I'm finally just going to shut up and let it go. If its big issue it will get corrected either through a patch or next year.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Look, here's Citi Field. They haven't blacked out the bleachers at all. It's ridiculously accurate.
Please don't accept the lesser state of other stadiums just because there's an easy excuse. This is the only baseball game we have anymore. It needs to be fixed, and Sony San Diego is too good to let this stuff slide for long.Last edited by Grub; 05-02-2014, 01:05 PM.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Guys, this is called HDR lighting. It adjusts dynamically based on what it thinks the human eye is going to do due to being overexposed or underexposed. If it's dark, things get lighter to simulate night vision. If it's bright, it gets darker so you can see. As shown before, stadiums like Citi Field are completely lit up at night. Busch, and to a lesser extent PNC, are simply messed up. There are even signs that are not in the way of the ball whatsoever that are unlit. Ball visibility is not an acceptable excuse here!

Absolutely agree. Its a reason they included the ball trail with the new camera. If you're having problems picking the ball up in the lights, turn it on.Last edited by Shakedowncapo; 05-02-2014, 01:18 PM.Comment

I think if it was supposed to be like that it would be in every stadium. Lots of stadiums look brilliant, whilst the aforementioned ones clearly have a problem.Comment

I think what freaks me out the most are the eyes. Anyone remember when Madden 2001 came out for the PS2 and they all had those flat paper eyes? Same effect here. Fixing those would make me a happy camper.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
In addition to what I stated last night with the screens I posted in the streaming threads, I feel that this was by intent and on purpose. I also think that the game is programmed to have actual light sources that effect the lighting and shadows in real time now.
This means that as the sun sets the stadium would be in complete darkness unless there are stadium lights hitting it. Only the actual parts of the stadium that receive the lighting from the light stanchions will be lit up in a way that is visible from home plate. i.e. the middle decks under an overhang would not get hit with light from the stadium lights on this game, nor would the city skylines.
From last night http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-1-hour-7.html Depends on where the light source hitting them is from. It seems like that scoreboard is casting a shadow on the upper deck seats in RF there.(Busch) The other, lower sections are better lit and don't look as bad. I mean, to a camera that doesn't overexpose during a shot the sights outside of a stadium's lights are pretty dark looking during a game or broadcast. When you are sitting there with the naked eye you can see the skyline just fine, but unless you adjust your camera the right way you cannot get the city in a picture to look bright. I am guessing that is what is going on here, just with parts of the seating in the stadium, perhaps. Just a guess.
Yeah, the good news is that as the camera follows the ball into the outfield for a play it shows those areas as if they are properly lit up with no real issues. I am sure this was by design as well.Comment
