1458, not counting playoffs, that's the number of games in a row I haven't missed! Go Yanks!

Anyone else get an e-mail like this in the last couple of days?

Don't get me wrong - I trust SCEA SD with this direction until it's proven that I shouldn't, and of course we have almost no details yet. But this sounds an awful lot like 2K's VC without knowing anything else about it. Just don't like the idea of one form of currency used across modes (my main fear is that this would be used for RTTS stat upgrades instead of the traditional training points). Hope I'm wrong.

The worry, of course, is that the payout structure would be modified in such a way that it would make it harder to improve your player normally. Like I said though, I trust them with the direction until there's a reason why I shouldn't. Going through a similar situation regarding Gran Turismo 6 at the moment.

I think it's more like a thing for easter eggs and extras and such...

Also if it makes you feel better... if they were attempting to monetize RTTS mode, they would not have announced the new RTTS/franchise carry-over thing.

Here's how I think the broadcast presentation of mlb 14 can be greatly improved. I got this idea from using the mlb.tv app. While watching any baseball game, you can overlay the teams' radio broadcast over the video. Think of it as another audio track on dvd. So since I'm visually impaired, I get the best of both worlds, watching a baseball game with radio audio. So step 1 is to get a fresh play-by-play guy for 14, and step 2 is to have him do a radio stile broadcast.

              OR would they...

lets hope not, the Gaming industry makes more than music and movies combined, games are already too expensive if it gets to the point of buying a game for $60 and than getting features for $20+ I'd think there would be a backlash and business would be lost, but who knows lots of people are suckers too

If you guys are worried that you would have to spend money on VC to HAVE to upgrade your player or anything else in the game....I seriously doubt that.

Right, it's the fact that we're talking about SCEA SD here that makes me NOT worry about it as much - we know training points aren't overly difficult to acquire in the game. Further, it's kind of different for a baseball game (as opposed to basketball) in that you could truly be stuck in the minors if the rate of training point gains was too low. I am confident that SCEA SD would never allow that to happen.

I'm probably just thinking too much about this with the VC and GT6 situations on my mind.

It is still something to be concerned about. Forza on One is pathetic in this regard.

In this day and age it's a fair question, Bcruise. But I'd bet everything I own - and I mean everything - against SCEA SD forcing us to use points (that can be purchased) to set lineups, hit the cages or change the color of our bats or cleats.

I just don't see it happening.

The fact that Russell liked Knights post makes me pretty much feel that we will not have to spend "VC" on anything to play the game like in the past.

I think in-game currency and micro-transactions are something we're going to have to get used to seeing unfortunately... As long as SCEA SD avoids the "pay to win" model then I have no problem with it being an option. I'd also prefer there to be no mention of micro-transactions anywhere in the game, leave that stuff on the psn store please!

Anyway, The Green Monster pic made me really excited about seeing stuff like the rocks at the big A, the trees at Coors Field, dirt and grass textures, etc. I have a feeling stadiums will be near photorealistic in '14, actually I'd expect nothing less.

Am I crazy or wasn't there an option to buy RTTS training points as well as to expand budgets using real money in last year's game? I don't think that it would be anything more than that. It'll be an option for people who want to expedite their careers but I can't see it being something that we'll feel we're missing out on anything if we don't just like I didn't feel that I was missing out last year when I didn't spend for these extra benefits.

Correct on the training points (though I'm personally unsure on the expanding budget part).

For people wanting to expedite their careers is an excellent way of putting it. I never spent a dime and like you was never at a disadvantage.
