This is why having competition was important. Even though the 2k series was nowhere near as good, if there was a 2k baseball game this year, I highly doubt The Show would be keeping everyone in the dark and probably releasing the PS4 version late.

I disagree, last year it was after Feb 22 before The Show dropped any useful information, so my big money bet is that it is going to be a LONG time before we hear anything.
And as for the PS4 version, (the only version I will be purchasing this year) it is being made from the ground up.
If it takes a development team a whole cycle every year to make the kinds of changes to the game that they make every year, how long do you think it is going to take them to make the PS3 game, and then make the PS4 game by scratch? My bet is Apr 1st. If not later.

April 1st or a week or two after for a release date would still be fine but honestly I get so hyped for Opening Day and baseball season every year. If this game gets released too late, my Cubs are already 10-23 in real life then I might just wait until next years game comes out based on hype alone. I dont want to sit here and complain about the release date. I respect everything the developers do for this game but they've been working on this game (ps4 version) for probably longer than most games so it should get released no later than opening day.

Do you know that for a fact, or are you assuming?
I know they showed those two pictures back in Nov, which would lead me to agree with you, but commonsense tells me that little to no news means, they are still not close to being finished.

I know exactly what you are saying, I am going to use Tom Clancy's The Division as an example, everyone thought it was going to come out with the PS4 on Nov 15th, they pushed it back to spring, and now the excitement I had for the game is gone, and I probably will not be buying it at all.
I'm not saying thats how I fell with The Show, but I have felt that way about other games. So I understand your feelings.

The way I understand it is that a development teams "Cycle" isn't a whole year, from the way it has been explained many times. I know there have been games being worked on when developers were given prototypes of the X1 and PS4, but I believe most of that time was spent learning the ins and outs of how to write code on the system, and not spent on the development of games.
So to answer your question directly, no, I honestly do not think that they have been writing lines of code for this game since last January. Working on ideas and brain storming? Yes absolutely, probably far earlier than that, but as for the meat and potatoes of the development of The Show 14? Jan 2013 would be a surprise, I don't think the PS4 was in its final state then, so how could they be making games for a console that wasn't finished?

They've had Dev kits for the PS4 for a few years now.

The first time I heard about the dev kits was like December of '12, and like I said, i'm willing to bet that a lot of time was spent learning the ins and outs of the system, and what they could do.
But no, I would be surprised if anyone came out and said "Yes" we have been writing code for this game since January of 2013.

This game is a Sony exclusive and SCEA is a Sony company. They had the dev kits long before the public had any knowledge. They were probably one of the first companies to get their hands on the new tech.

Edit: maybe not!

I don't think the lack of news and the lack of a specified release date is any indication that the dev team is behind in development. It just simply means that nothing has been released yet.
