Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)

Thankfully reading that sounds for me like key gameplay modes more than any of the things we mostly discuss about the PS4, and considering this is definitely not an official statement I don't find myself entirely concerned as before.

The 1 all time great thing is the saving new saving feature that will allow us to live through any personally disappointing versions MLB the Show and wait until the next year without having to bypass the game. Provided the saving is done right, with regard to customized rosters and such things.

Any link to this, maybe, I'll like to read it and hope it's out of context or something?
I don't remember MLB 07 on PS2 just being a roster update though. Wasn't that the year that Road to The Show evolved from the previous career mode and wasn't that in the PS2 version as well.

I don't expect the PS3 version to be a wasteland. Sure new features won't make it back in to the PS3 version if the hardware can't do it, but for at least MLB 14 I don't see why they wouldn't add in some of the new features. The hope is that the PS4 version will be more than just a better looking game, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm getting a PS4 at launch so I'm all in no matter what.

Russell mentioned a few days back that they had pretty much maxxed out the hardware. I would expect that whatever new features they can squeeze into the old box they will but after a couple of years it will be full bore on the new console and maybe a roster update for the 3 via DLC on the cheap.

I like that roster update idea.

That's something else I wish sports games would do - put out roster updates for older games.

I'm good with creating faces but no so good with attributes. My hope for 2014 would be to just let us feed the players stats into the machine and the attributes would be completed automatically. I for one would love this... It would be a roster builder's best friend...

How about a custom franchise that would stat track from season to season. A simple franchise for roster builders. No trading, just build the classic teams and play etc. In Classic Franchise The Brooklyn Dodgers wouldn't have to face trading. No hoops to jump threw.

Any word if Classic Stadiums are included in 2014 and would we have the option to choose to play a season with the 16 classic teams?

This game with the new PS4 is a few months down the road. I feel like the kid in Christmas Story waiting in sweet anticipation for his Decoder Ring to come in the mail...Can't wait!

I really hope the PS3 version will turn into a pure roster update rather sooner than later and not hold the development back for long.

Since the current console has admittedly been maxxed out this is the best way to go. Cheap cheap DLC though not a full game. But I do not think they will do that.

When has SCEA SD ever done that?

They've proven they're committed to releasing the best possible game on every platform they've ever released on. This includes yearly improvements.

Their PS3 version has been maxed out for years. And 13 wasn't just a roster update of 12.

Obviously The Show 13 wasn't just a roster update, who would even consider that it was?? I mean both were on the PS3 only and no next gen PS 4 around. But now that the PS 4 will drop in a few days I would really like them to focus all their forces on the next gen version only for the years to come after 2014 and let the PS 3 version be a yearly roster update.

Yeah that's a smart move considering there are 80million ps3's in people's households. If they would abondon the ps3 from the start of the ps4 launch they would miss so much income that you won't even have a MLB The Show 15 at all!

yea for 2014 that isn't an option, but the years after i really hope their focus will turn entirely towards the PS 4. In my opinion that's the best and fastest way for this series to become even better (than it could even be on the old and outdated PS 3).

Now that we are here and I keep browsing websites looking at the same PS4 stock photo, I desperately hope for an MLB 14 PS4 package with the works, A game bundle, MLB version dulshock 4 and to cap it off, a custom Wood Loiuseville Slugger paneled Playstation 4. Its Not to much to ask for.

Something I wish they would add (probably in 2015) is the ability to NOT let you skip intros and walkups.

The way I envision it is somewhere in presentation setting there is an option that does not let you skip cutscenes, batter walkups, pitcher warm up, etc. This would obviously be optional but it would immerse you more in the game.

Sometimes I feel like I press "X" to move on and speed it up and that speed causes me to not think about next pitch (both offense and defense) and causes me to be too anxious. I try to remind myself not to press it but it just instinct.

Now for this to work properly it would depend on making sure that the commentary and cutscenes (I know they are not really cutscenes anymore) are varied enough that when I let them play I will not see the same thing over and over again.

Hopefully the PS4 allows for more variety in that department and make this option work.

Even though they are different sports, it sure would be great for Sony (or anyone) to make a baseball game as COMPLETE and as JAW-DROPPING as NBA 2K14! Baseball is my favorite sport, however this is the BEST overall sports game ever! Bar none!
