This is kinda off-topic, but just to say because i thought it interesting... I just saw an article over at IGN saying the PS4 has sold over 5 MILLION units worldwide since launch... (and it hasn't even launched in Japan yet!) WOW (to tie this into the thread here.. The fans have spoken why the PS4 is the console to have.

We shall see, I feel like they say the commentating improves every year but it keeps being a sore spot for the game. What I don't like is they only mention "game conditions" and "today's players". I don't need anymore canned commentary, I want an interactive/dynamic commentary that will talk about my players in franchise. Talk about how my #1 draft pick from 2014 is finally making his debut in 2017, tell me which school he was from and how he did in the minors.

I understand your position and were your coming from and trust me I am a diehard baseball hoping for a great game. but what I mean by the comment is that while skill based, the hitting doesn't feel dynamic.

for instance there are times where you can line up the PCI dead center with solid timing yet its a pop-up or grounder...whatever the game decides at that particular moment.

yet there are other times I were Ive missed with the PCI over the ball and the ball is flying over the fence.

It just feels too random at times, Almost as if the game is making sure that the stats look as realistic as possible at the end of the game.

PYS is a great example on what a good hitting interface looks like although it can be pretty hard at times the result of the hits is purely skillbased and dynamic, so the only way you can hit the ball on the ground is by missing high with the cursor same applies for fly-balls. the only way to go deep is by squaring one up.

It's funny, out of all the good stuff in the list, the thing I was most excited to see was the bit about new catcher animations. I was really hoping they'd overhaul it to improve pitch receiving/framing/blocking. I can't wait to see it in action.

Oh, and did they keep the old stabby animations just for Ryan Doumit?

The Show and PYS have two different approaches in regards to hitting. I think many people expect the Show's PCI to react like the one in PYS but they are actually representing two different scenarios. The PCI is represented as plate coverage where it reflects how a batter behaves and approaches an at bat. PYS is representing how a bat physically behaves through the zone for bat on ball contact.

So yes, in the Show there will be times where the PCI is centered on a ball and your result could be different then what was expected. I would think if dynamics are what you were looking for it would be the Show's. Understanding how the system works is key when those situations occur.

I have never placed PYS and I don't agree that The Show's batting is "random," by any means.

However, I can't help but agree that the PCI's location in relation to the ball should be weighed more heavily in the batting formula, especially for Zone Hitting. In concept, the whole point of Zone hitting, to me, is to give the user control over how he approaches the at-bat. What's the point of controlling the location of the PCI, if the location of the PCI isn't a significant factor in contact?

Again, I know the batting equation is far from a crapshoot, but that doesn't change the fact that it sometimes feels like one.

Well the last feature on the fact sheet says They're reworking the PCI, hopefully it gives the player more control. You guys should look at MVP online, its released in korea and its an interesting mix of the show and PYS. youtube.com/watch?v=Eshuy4mOnBE

That would be nice if they were able to do that.

I am completely blown away... The PS4 is going to be an unbelievable game. But the biggest thing for me personally?

                      Editable potential

That's it. I cannot be more stoked... Roster editing is going to go by sooo much faster with this addition. Now if only we could edit contracts, then this game would be a roster-makers dream. Haha But I'm completely ok if it were to never get in.

I have a possibly forbidden technical question to ask of Russell. Is the same scale going to be used for player ratings as was used in last year's game? I assume there will be at least some minor adjustments, but are there any major changes, like re-scaled ratings or the addition of new ones?

The reason I ask is because I am almost finished with a very detailed ratings calculator which is sim engine-based. I planned initially to rescale it when the new game comes out, but since the PS4 version will not be out until May, I am considering purchasing the PS3 version to work on this.

Now I dont know how this is going to affect everything, if they are just re-rating and how they weight their ratings or if something changed and how dramatic. I'm looking to find out similar info for similar reasons so hope info gets released in some blogs.

So I can start a season in MLB 14, stop playing mid June (in the game) and be able to buy MLB 15 and load of the season and from that point?? With new features, players, animations, etc??

Please tell me this is true! And HOW DID THEY MANAGE TO PULL THAT OFF!?

Editable potential is Huge. Especially for the Roster guys. It also cuts everyone some slack when it comes to their favorite prospect. If you think a guy should be an A you can make it happen.
