Yes. To clarify for those not having been in the discussion from the top: The Dodgers are making a push for the playoffs and are in win now mode (hence trading for Lee). They've already traded Ethier to the Angels and Pederson is their 4th OF with no quality OF'er behind him.

With Pederson being moved as a part of the Lee deal, there's no 4th OF and depth in the OF for that playoff push. That's why he's sending them Byrd. Crawford/Kemp/Puig with Byrd providing veteran leadership, making an occasional start, def replacement and PH appearance.

That makes sense to me, I suppose. More sense tnan I first read of it but I think I made mention of that I could be missing something. I'd still try to leave them with Joc and go with a different prospect (and keep Byrd) if at all possible. It would make more sense for LA.

Pederson HAS to go in a deal for Lee. It's ridiculous if he doesn't.

Hey guys, first time poster here but long time reader of the blog. Question about my Pirates franchise:

I want to add a good young pitcher to my staff. I went through every team and I'm down to 2 trades that the CPU will accept that I like, but they are both suspsicious.

1. Pit receives: Roenis Elias and Nick Franklin; Sea receives: Jordy Mercer
2. Pit receives: Matt Moore and Sean Rodriguez; TB receives: Jordy Mercer.

I want my franchise to be realistic and while Moore is way better than Elias on this game the 2nd tade seems ludicrous. The 1st trade still seems crazy. I don't watch much Pirates baseball, but how the hell am I getting such a great return on Jordy Mercer?

Honestly no clue... probably just this games crappy trade logic. If your going for realistic obviously don't accept, otherwise, well.... the show just made it christmas for you!

EDIT: Realized you do want to be realistic, so I would definetely decline if your sure thats the case. I could def help if you'd like to find you a nice realistic trade.

Really? I kinda thought the deal made sense. I was thinking of adding Mayberry or someone to give them the 4th OF option. Pederson is kinda blocked behind 3 guys with long term contracts so I figured he'd be the center of the package.

Sure. I'm looking for a good young pitcher (LHP preferably) that could be a top 2 guy in a year or 2. Only guys I would'nt trade are Cutch, Marte, and Polanco. Actively looking to move Mercer and Neil Walker.

Not sure what the original deal was that you're referencing, but Pederson absolutely has to be in the deal for Cliff Lee. I would think that you could do better as the "centerpiece" but that's just me. If Lee's pitching well, he's worth more than a few B's.

Texas offers Colby Lewis (3.21 era at the deadline) to San Diego, which is at the top of the NL West and needing good SP.

The ask is Rhymer Liriano. Is this a fair one-for-one, or does Texas need to add a throw-in?

Well, if the Red Sox are doing good, Harry Owens could possibly be an option. But he would be hard to get...

They would probably want a SP like Wandy paired with a 3B or an OF. Although the pirates think highly of him, Meadows could be an option, since Polanco, Cutch, and Marte will rule the OF. If you'd be fine with a righty that would probably open up a ton of options.

Yeah, you might be missing some info like I was before. From LAD perspective, they'd PREFER the LH Joc to RH Byrd not to mention years of control etc., but I wouldn't make it a deal breaker either if PHi is insistent on it. If you passed on Joc, then you could probably go with 2 other prospects in his place and that could be more value for PHI. That's my thought but there is no way any of us could know for certain what Amaro or Coletti would do--especially Amaro! I personally would demand Seager.

Original deal was Lee to LAD for Pederson, Zach Lee, and Jose Dominguez. I thought that would be enough for Lee since I'm personally pretty high on Pederson.

Amaro thinks Cliff Lee for a free pizza is a good deal.
