How's Samardzija doing? If he's pitching well and the Giants are in contention and struggling with their rotation it could happen I suppose. Crick is their prized prospect so it might take some pretty good stats from Samardzija or desperation from the Giants.

Yeah, definitely. Although the Royals have shown they are willing to stick with Moustakas as their guy in the long run, despite talks of sending him to the minors. But if Moustakas is struggling you could deal someone like Adam Conley maybe? Like I said in a previous post if the Royals are out of it they'll want MLB ready talent to contend the following year, at least that's how I see it.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Morse deal seems ok to me. If Hudson is struggling that badly they can use Peacock as their fill in for him, plus Peacock can contribute right away and he looks to be a pretty solid back end of the rotation guy based on his attributes. For Gordon, I'd think you would need to give up some more. If they are only 4 games out I don't see them moving Gordon, but it could happen if they fall further out of contention within the next few weeks. I like the idea of sending Domingo Santana to them as his power potential is pretty nice. I also like McCullers going to them but he still appears to be a few years away. The way I see it the Royals have been waiting to start contending for a while now and if they did fall out of contention this year and be willing to deal Gordon they'd probably want MLB ready talent to help contribute right away so they can contend next year. Grossman could be a possibility, but I think you'd have to give up someone like Foltynewicz or Wojciechski because the Royals can use them going right into 2015 ( assuming you're in year 1?). For Gordon I'd think one of those 2 SP's, Grossman, and maybe Santana... Looking at it that looks like a lot to give up but I'm not sure KC would part with Gordon very quickly.
But I do feel you're ultimately right. Thinking about it some more, I really don't think I can take Alex Gordon. You made a great point about the Royals waiting a long time to contend, so taking Gordon away from them when they are finally in position to possibly do that just doesn't feel right. And considering their outstanding amount of young pitching talent, giving up young pitching prospects for him doesn't feel completely right to me either.
Alex Gordon will stay in KC. I can't take him.
Now, back to Morse. To give you an idea of how bad Tim Hudson has been for them this season, he's 0-11 with a 8.32 ERA and only 28 strikeouts.
There are really 3 C prospect starting pitchers I wouldn't mind moving for Mike Morse... Brad Peacock, Alex White, and Paul Clemens.
I picked Peacock because his value on the spreadsheet was exactly the same as Mike Morse's. Alex White is on my major league roster right now, but I'm using him as a relief pitcher. He might be the better choice of the 3 because he's a year younger. Paul Clemens is probably the best overall pitcher of the 3, though.
Another thought... it might be better for the Giants to give them Ronald Torreyes. Their best 2nd baseman is Joaquin Arias. Torreyes already has a better overall than him (69 for Arias, 74 for Torreyes), not to mention Torreyes is 22 years old. He's only a C prospect, though.
Would Torreyes be a better deal for Mike Morse than one of my 3 C-prospect pitchers?Comment

I say give them Torreyes, Arias is serviceable at best & more suited for a utility role

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'm in my first offseason with the Pirates. My lineup and hitting prospects are solid, but my staff needs some work. I got Alex Wood in a trade for Neil Walker at the deadline but lost Liriano via FA and lost out on some good FA pitchers. Basically I have Gerrit Cole (89), Alex Wood (84), and a bunch of 73's-77's to choose from.
I'm looking to move some hitters for a #1-2 SP with MLB experience. I'd move Starling Marte, Jordy Mercer or Austin Meadows + a number of mid level prospects if I have to. I had a great 1st year draft so my pipeline is loaded.
Anyone have ideas ideas of realistic guys to target? Keep in mind I'm willing to make this a blockbuster and give up some real talent to make it happen.Comment

They might not want Furcal because of his age, but if you're willing to give up one of the other two guys to make it happen I don't see anything wrong with it for either side, especially if you're not heavily using Dietrich or Solano and don't see them as a part of your future plan.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Need to make a pickup for a run at the playoffs. My Braves are currently in first place with a 2 game lead but Miami/Washington/Mets are all close on our tail all within 5 games back. Also it's looking like we're going to have to win the division in order to make the playoffs as the central/west divisions should get the wildcard spots.
It's the end of July with 6 days left before the trade deadline.
Strength is pitching as we have the a top 5 ERA while our batting average is the worst stat as it's near the bottom of the league. We can get homers and extra base hits but our number one issue is a good contact lead-off hitter.
Our bullpen is strong with only 1 reliever, Avilan, in the 4.5-5.2 ERA range that I might look to replace. Our 1-4 is strong (didn't do real injuries so I got Medlan/Minor/Beachy/Tehran) and Alex Wood is splitting time this year at the 5th spot with Gavin Floyd .
So my number one need is a contact hitter but I'm also wondering if maybe adding another elite closer type of reliever would help too. As it stands now If I make it to the 9th inning I'm very confident I'll get the win since Kimbrel has been lights out. I think if I had another elite level closer type player that all I would need to do is get to the 8th inning. However, I would only want someone with a year left as I wouldn't be cool with spending closer type money on two different relievers outside of this playoff push.
The three worse teams in the NL are the Padres, Rockies, and Reds while in the AL it's the Tigers, White Sox, and Yankees. All these teams are 10+ out of the division and wildcard.
Any ideas on any impact trades I could make to help make the playoffs?
Positions that would help are 2B, 3B, or OF. Also if any team had a closer or good setup man that would be movable I might bite for that. I would like to trade away SP prospects as I don't have much talented position prospects so I would like to keep the few I have if possible.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
David Price maybe? If he isn't already dealt and they haven't extended his contract indicating they want to hang onto him. Cliff Lee if you're willing to take on some salary and don't mind his age and if the Phillies did poorly last year. Samardzija? (under the same circumstances as Price). Scott Feldman maybe? Maybe Yovani Gallardo? Just some guys that came to mind who I think are obtainable and could fill in for you.Comment
