Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I'm starting a new Braves franchise and I'm trying to only make deals the Braves would make. I feel this team really has a need for an OF that can not only platoon with BJ in CF, but also lead off against LHP. I don't want to give up too much, so I was wondering if Drew Stubbs made sense? I'm using the OSFM Hybrid V2a rosters, and the Rockies really have no need for him with Blackmon and Dickerson. The spreadsheet says a high C. Would Gavin Floyd be fair in return? Based on overall, he would be their #2 SP. I know he's getting old, but it would give them a stop-gap SP that would allow them to keep their prospects in the minors for another year. Any other ideas are appreciated. It's still the first day of ST.

Lee to the Blue Jays for Marcus Stroman, Mitch Nay, and Dwight Smith Jr.

Lee to the Orioles for Hunter Harvey and Kevin Gausman

Lee to the Reds for Robert Stephenson, Phil Ervin, and Jessee Winker

Lee to the Dodgers for Joc Pederson, Zach Lee, and Corey Seager

Which one would be the fairest/most realistic? All of the above teams are still in contention. As for Papelbon, here are my two options:

Papelbon to the Angels for Mike Morin

Papelbon to the Padres for Joe Ross **Huston Street is out for the year

      Any thoughts?
I just completed a swap very similar to your Jays trade:

Lee for Strohman, Nay & a B rated reliever in AAA.

Compared to the pre-season asking price for Samardija that scared the Cubs away (Hutchison+Strohman+) I think the Jays would probably do this or something similar provided that they are in contention, of course.

Your Dodgers trade looks decent though I'm not sure how high they are on Seager. I think that Pederson + Lee + a lesser prospect would get it done.

Just like a Jays deal has to begin with Stroman, a deal with the Dodgers has to start with Pederson

Pederson+Lee+a lesser prospect is fair. Urias/Seager as the 3rd piece is asking too much unless you give them Utley as well

Talking trade with the Angels, I'd focus on Alex Yarbrough as a replacement for Utley or if you want a stud CP for the future, RJ Alvarez. I think you're loosing the deal if Morin is the only piece that comes back.

Realistically, Papelbon's contract is too big for the Padres market. If you have 30 team control, I'd edit Benoit to be their closer.

Could Baltimore be an option? Are they contending? How about the Mets?

As the yankees what would it take to get Brandon Phillips or Aramis Ramirez or asdrubal Cabrera or Jason hammel or cliff lee or chase Utley.

MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

So now that the OSFM Hybrid OD v2 (Thank you Totte ) is out I can finally start my Twins dynasty.

I wan't to start working out a Mauer deal now and I think that the Dodgers are the best suitors. I was thinking something like:

              Dodgers get:

              C Mauer

              Twins get:

              LHP Urias

              RHP Lee

              2B Gordon

and although the Dodgers have unlimited money they have a logjam of Starting pitching some I was thinking of some salary relief in the form of someone like RHP Billingsley.

What do you guys think. I am totally open for suggestions and I would be willing to include a few players to sweeten the deal.

Since I haven't started no-one has any stats or standings so this is just for future planning. I plan on doing this deal sometime in June if that helps any.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Mauer is going to be converted back to catcher. I plan on having him catch one game a series for me. Maybe more depending on how Suzuki looks, Pinto will be DH until Mauer is gone and Willingham will shift over to first.

I think adding another B prospect would be nice. Playing as the Cards in my chise, I traded for CarGo with an 95 Potential SP Prospect, CMart (Edited to High 80's Pot SP), Adams, and Jon Jay.

In context though, CarGo had been injured and returned batting around .240, slugging still good. And Jay is having a legitimate chance at the NL batting title. Adams is also leading the Cards in HR and batting around .295-.300.

EDIT: Rockies were also out of contention and Tulo was injured; so no chance they are competing this year.

                  Phillips for Gardner?

Other options Sanchez + Heathcott + a smaller piece

                  Ramirez for Nova + Williams/Heathcott + Banuelos

                  Cabrera for ?

                  Hammel for a low b.

Lee not available, Yanks don't have the pieces for him. If Lee is playing terribly though, like beyond awful; Pineda + Sanchez + Williams + Banuelos + another C prospect. But Williams and Banuelos must be playing extremely well like upgrading to B's well.

What point in the season are you in? Records and stats would be useful.

Trying to make a push this year as the Mariners (3 games back in the division) I traded for Giancarlo Stanton. Is this a fair trade or do I need to add more? I wanted to avoid using Zunino or Paxton.

Stanton and Capps (because I had to make 2 trades)

                    For

Taijuan Walker 79 ovr A pot, Erasmo Ramirez 80 ovr B pot, Nick Franklin 73 ovr B pot, Chris Taylor 74 ovr B pot, Dustin Ackley 73 ovr B pot, and James Jones 72 ovr B pot.

Man been spinning my wheels all day trying to figure out how to make a deal work. The spreadsheet states some things for guys like Edwin Encarnacion that seems like overpaying (2 A's and 1 B) for him. Looked at Alexei Ramirez and it mentioned something like 2 B's and a C which again seems pretty steep. I took a peak at Adrian Beltre in Texas now what would it take to get him? I know the spreadsheet says that basically they wouldn't trade him because he's the cornerstone of their franchise (which I highly doubt seeing as 34 yr old 3B generally aren't cornerstones but I get the thinking behind it at least). Would a package that brought in a SP and an OF'er along the lines of Ethier make it work? Texas has the 4th worst ERA in the majors as a team, is struggling to get any production out of CF so it makes some sense to give them a solid bat in Ethier, a SP to help the rotation and maybe another piece that way they don't get worse overal while I fill a need. Like maybe Ethier, Uribe and a SP for Beltre? That make any sense or am I just reaching to try and make anything work lol?
