Short of getting someone like Stanton I don't think he is.
I didn't mean he was available. I just said in order for him to be traded the Cards would need some good major league talent. Robertson could also work. They don't need Ellsbury because of the outfield.

Maybe Robertson, CC and Betances for Carpenter? Huge overpay but that is probably the only way the Cards trade him.

Well it all depends on how everyone is pitching.

The Cards don't take this imo.

          Agree to disagree.

Well you've entirely ignored more than 75% worth of my posts including responding to my brick wall of text that I spent like 10-20 minutes on with that same emote so, y'know,

I would agree with that, but it's hard to see Samardzija, Hamels, Lee, Lincecum, and Latos available for anything the Yankees have to offer up. Those guys should fetch a king's ransom.

I'm sorry, AC. Did not know you were looking for validation of your research efforts. Good job! I will even go like your post now! lol

But more seriously, this year I refuse to be drawn into a lengthy debate over a minor deal in someone else's chise when he'll do the deal regardless of how compelling an argument I come up with anyway.

I know I'm right. You know you're right. Let's just leave it at that.

No, I don't really care about your or my opinion or the debate anymore, it's just that you post with this patronizing tone. "I will go like your post now!" "Is that what the lingo from these kids today is?" Stuff like that. It's disrespectful, and if I post a genuine opinion in response to yours, at the very least I think most posters would appreciate to be answered with more than a smiley face and patronization before being criticized over ignoring half a post when in reality I was clarifying something rather than continuing a debate.

Hamels and Lee are both lights out with Hamels being the front runner for Cy Young.

Masterson, Bailey and Latos are out because they're contending

That leaves Samardzija, Hammel, Liriano, Lincecum, and I like Drew Smyly as the Tigers are out of it.

                    Samardzija: 9-7 3.31 ERA
                    Hammel: 5-6 4.15 ERA
                    Liriano: 7-6 3.93 ERA
                    Lincecum: 9-6 3.95 ERA
                    Smyly: 11-3 2.50 ERA

Going back to Carpenter and Headley:
                    Headley: .283/.374/.450 9 HRs 53 RBIs
                    Carpenter: .261/.339/.376 7 HRs 24 RBIs

This is at the deadline BTW.

And if someone could remind me how unrealistic it is for the Cubs to deal Rizzo to the Yankees that'd be great. I could see him raking at Yankee Stadium and want to pull the trigger but know I cant.

Someone else earlier said that Carp was available. Also, Bourjos isn't a lock in center, and Taveras isn't really a center fielder, which is why I mentioned Ellsbury. The Cardinals need hitting more than pitching right now, and they wouldn't be interested in CC, especially for their lead off hitter.

I think the biggest problem in all this is the Cardinals have no logical replacement at third base for Carpenter should he be traded. Ellis is listed on the depth chart, but I wouldn't want him starting there, and Descalso just fills space. On top of that, they really don't have a top prospect at third either, so at minimum a third baseman would need to come back in any Carpenter trade.

1.) Smyly and Samardzija will be too much. Hammel, Liriano and Lincecum all work though. Easiest to hardest in this order. Hammel > Liriano > Lincecum. I think you can get a deal for Lincecum though.

2.) I would target Headley. Carpenter probably won't work. Headley is pretty cheap. The Padres bullpen is relatively weak so if you changed Betances him and Gohara could work.

3.) Rizzo is almost 100% a lock to not move for awhile.

Yeah I don't see them moving Carpenter unless they get a replacement in the deal. Trade them A-Rod haha That always solves everything.
