Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
This isn't making sense, usually guys play with the Rockies to play WITH Tulo, not move him. If he wants Bogaerts and other Boston pieces wouldn't it make more sense to just use Boston then?#HellaBandz

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
If he wants to trade Tulo I say go for it. Not the best example knowing what we do now but A-Rod was traded under a massive contract because the Rangers felt that despite his performance, they had too many other needs that they couldn't afford to address. Since Tulo's contract wouldn't make a big market team like the Red Sox blush I would say that the deal can be realistic assuming he is taking over the role of Rockies GM.
Teams often trade established players to rebuild, criticize the Marlins all you want but the team won a world series and then had a fire sale, twice.
Im not saying Bill Geavitt (i think he makes personnel decisions now) would actually do this but there were whispers that this might happen last year so if he want's to, let him.
Considering how the Rockies seem to play in the Show it may not be a terrible idea. No sense in wasting Tulo's prime and taking a huge amount of salary up when you could get some serious prospect value.
I would build the deal around Bogaerts and Owens and you would be able to get 4-6 more legitimate prospects on top of that IMO.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
What doesn't make sense to me is why Tulo is getting paid $10-15M more than he does in real life. That turns a friendly contract for the NL MVP into a slight burden. But you are correct, usually people try to build around him. I'd never tell someone how to enjoy their game, though.Nebraska Cornhuskers Detroit Tigers San Francisco 49ers Detroit Red Wings Syracuse Orange New York KnicksComment

The Red Sox would never trade Bogaerts. Unless it was for Mike Trout.Nebraska Cornhuskers Detroit Tigers San Francisco 49ers Detroit Red Wings Syracuse Orange New York KnicksComment

The Rockies wouldn't trade Tulo without Bogaerts in it. I don't think this is the best fit but thats what I would require to even consider parting with Tulo to the Red Sox.Comment

I definitely agree with you. Heck, I'd go as far as to say that the Rockies wouldn't trade Tulo for anyone, but this is his team. I just don't see there being a realistic scenario where the Sox part with Bogaerts.Nebraska Cornhuskers Detroit Tigers San Francisco 49ers Detroit Red Wings Syracuse Orange New York KnicksComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
If the OP wants to trade Tulo, let him go for it. I don't think anybody said it was realistic, so I don't know why it's a big deal. Best we can do is help him get a fair deal.
The deal would definitely have to start around Bogaerts. From there, I think it's all preference and what positions he wants to get back. He could go pitching heavy and get Owens + Barnes + whoever. Or he could get position players or get a mix. I think Boston's system could do any of those scenarios.
Spreadsheet value for Tulo is a High A + Mid A + High B + Mid B.
Obviously, Xander is that high A, and the centerpiece of the deal. I don't have the in game potentials on hand, so bear with me for the rest of it.
Bogarets + Owens/Betts + Cecchini/Swihart/Ball + Barnes/Webster/Workman
The game probably doesn't agree with those values, but that's how I see those guys.
Some people would probably say Bogaerts + any three/four prospects from Boston that you want. Lol, Tulo is very valuable. Any way you do it you're going to get a lot of talent back.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Starting a San Francisco Giants franchise soon and will be looking to make a move to acquire a 2B. I struggle playing with Scutaro and would like to add a younger guy to fill that role. Would like to target Elvis Andrus and convert him to 2B, but feel that the Giants not so strong farm system would take a hit. Any suggestions on either possible 2B targets or possible trades to acquire Andrus?Comment

If you're going by the spreadsheet, Andrus for Crick straight up would work.
I don't know if Texas would do that or not though. If you're playing without Profar's injury, Sardinas/Odor could handle 2B easily for them, while Profar moves to SS. If you're going to keep him injured though, I think it would take more.

Guerrero started to hit better and better, as Scutaro was struggling. At one point, I decided to make him my 1st choice at 2B. But then I realized that the guy's an error machine. His fielding stat is 74 but it feels a lot worse. He also has no secondary position.
So I decided to go for another 2B. I tried to ship Scutaro to pretty much any team. Nobody wanted him. So after trading a rather feable prospect (RP Juan Leon) for my one of my top 2B targets (my first option was Altuve but the Astros wouldn't let him go), Daniel Murphy, I decided to release Scutaro.
Murphy's in the last year of his contract and makes $2.8M a year, but he's really solved my 2B problem.Comment

I had the same problem. On top of that, Scutaro will decay very quickly because of his age. He had already dipped to 73 after 2 months. I first looked for a backup 2B as Scutaro obviously wouldn't be able to play every game - I grabbed Alex Guerrero from the Dodgers, with decent stats and a 80 overall (B potential), for CP Fred Ryan. Guerrero has a 3-year contract at the beginning of the game and only makes 106K a year. It felt like a steal.

Yeah I was hoping it wouldn't come to Crick, but feel like there is no other deal I could make without Crick involved. With Hudson on the edge of retirement it makes it hard for me to want to deal Crick and would rather bring up after the season or two. Also, I think I would almost rather trade Crick in a Samardzija deal and deal Vogelsong (do well with Samardzija and struggle will Vogy, but for some reason excel with Lincecum even with his declining ratings lol)
Eh, I just don't see SF having what we want for Samardzija. Crick would be a start, but after that I don't know what else could come back. I know they've been linked to Shark IRL, but I think that's unlikely given our asking price.
If you wanna keep Crick, I'd definitely look for a cheaper guy. I'm blanking on names right now, so I'll suggest Darwin Barney who won't cost much at all. Don't be afraid to trade in the division either, as Josh Rutledge could be an option. Just don't do Alex Guerrero, because that's not the least bit realistic as the Dodgers recently signed him out of Cuba.
It was.Last edited by k_mac; 06-24-2014, 03:35 AM.Comment
