I agree, I don't see Samardzija to Giants happening. Rutledge would be intriguing.

Murphy could be obtainable too. Uggla is interesting, if you don't mind taking on salary. (Assuming that you could hit better with him than with Scutaro) Alternatively, Tyler Pastornicky could probably be had for the right price. Rickie Weeks is another guy. I don't think any of them would cost all that much.

If you can suffer with Scutaro until around the deadline or late June, Jimmy Rollins could be available. You'd just have to give it time to be realistic for him to get the hits record in Philly and opt out of his NTC. Crawford could move to 2B, with Rollins at SS.

Also, I think I would almost rather trade Crick in a Samardzija deal and deal Vogelsong (do well with Samardzija and struggle will Vogy, but for some reason excel with Lincecum even with his declining ratings lol)
If you're closing any good deals to reinforce your rotation let us know here. Hudson and Vogey decline at an unrealistic rate and I just can't figure out how to be efficient with Timmy.

A lot of teams will put huge pitchers on the trade block (hell, the Cards just put Wacha up there in my game) but getting them to accept a deal is something else.

Those trades are neither fair or realistic. If you don't care about either one of those things, and the game accepts it then that's up to you. Trade logic is broken.

You'd have to give up much, much more for each of those guys.

Back to the trade logic being broken. I recommend not even paying attention to the trade block because of that. It's really a useless feature because the trade logic is so bad. If you're wanting realistic trades to happen, you'll have to look at each team's areas of need, and stats for corresponding players.

You can work wonders with 30 team control. Without it, it can be difficult to work in decent trades.

In the first year of my braves franchise, I traded SP ervin Santana for CF Cocoa Crisp shortly after the all star break. Too bad for me, I lost Crisp to a torn Achilles soon after.

I'm starting to understand that. To be fully transparent, I'm playing my first chise ever in a The Show series. I'm also relatively new to baseball and have a FIFA Soccer background, where the transfer/trade system is less complex and above all less broken.

So working without 30 team control will probably end up significantly breaking the balance, dynamic and fairness of my league, I guess...

I'm about to hit the crossroads of deciding what I need to do for my Astros franchise.

                  Year: 2015
Record: 40-42 (9.5 GB in the division...within a few games of a WC spot)
                  Date: July 2nd

**** is about to get real. Right now I could go either way with regards to trading away a player or two or trying to get another arm/bat for my squad to make a postseason push.

I'd try and find some cheap value. Look for guys with solid peripherals (good K's, no walks) who have high ERAs and will be available for cheap.

There are some people that aren't bothered by the CPU trades, and can still have fun just running their teams and playing. If it doesn't bother you, you'll be fine. However, you'll find that most people on this board care, and don't like figuring out that a CPU team 10-15 games under .500 traded their top two prospects for a decent (at best) relief pitcher.

I've seen some crazy deals go down, and haven't played without 30 team control for the last three years. It's a must for me, and it doesn't take a whole lot of extra effort.

I'd say a Mid to High C prospect with someone to fill in for him
