I just didn't realize how bad the trade logic was I guess. I quickly hit, "edit, undo" on that deal.

Anyway, the reason I'm somewhat willing to let Soler go is because in my franchise we have a surplus of position players, obviously in the infield, but it kind of trickles over. Here's what I'm thinking for 2015-2017...

    C Swihart
    1B Rizzo
    2B Alcantara
    SS Russell
    3B Baez
    OF Bryant
    OF Almora
    OF Lake

Other options in the outfield include McKinney, and a long-shot is Brett Jackson. Also, Josh Vitters has really done surprisingly well for me this year and could still be around if he continues to improve.

So basically I feel like I have enough in the outfield and that could also be an area where I add a piece when need be through free agency. Soler is already 25-years-old compared to Swihart, who is just 21.

So if you guys think that's a fair trade, I think I may do this. I might wait until the offseason but I'm determined to get a good quality, young catching prospect. I just wish I had Kyle Schwarber.
I agree with Soler for Swihart straight up. I think Soler's value is a little too high on the sheet though.

If Nelson Cruz is doing anywhere nearly as good as he is IRL, you aren't getting him. Either way, you won't get him for Jaime, as Baltimore has an abundance of pitchers/pitching prospects.

Sorry if I'm clogging up this thread but I just need a lot of advice over the next few in-game weeks leading up to the trade deadline.

Aside from my desire for a catching prospect, I'm also starting to look at other, CPU-controlled teams and what they're needs are. I didn't notice until just now that Clayton Kershaw is out for the season with an injury for the Dodgers. Major bummer for them. That makes it so they need, even more so, a big-name pitcher.

The Phillies are the logical choice because they are definite sellers at this point and they have both Cole Hammel and Cliff Lee on the trade block. What would it take for that move?

Also, Colorado is about out of it and are likely sellers. What's the consensus on Carlos Gonzalez and where he might land. What team could use his services the most and what would it take to make that happen?

I just want the CPU-to-CPU trades to be realistic. There's been some real doozies lately. My favorite was the Pirates offering Gaby Sanchez and a couple of prospects to the Angels for Albert Pujols. Ridiculous, given the context of my franchise especially.

Desmond is a bit more attainable than Castro if only because you said they signed Hardy, plus Rendon to 2B and Espinosa to SS is a possibility. Would you be interested in Danny Espinosa to play SS? He's kind of the odd man out there even before Hardy and would come pretty cheap.

I would refer to the spreadsheet (see link in OP) to get Desmond's value and try to build a package that Washington would be intrigued by.

You could always just create Kyle Schwarber. I believe CAPs are available in the player vault and you could just write down the ratings and apply them to a random CAP in your chise. Maybe change one of your lesser draft picks into Schwarber? I don't see anything wrong with that...you could just pretend you got your current 1st rounder in the 2nd round.

Otherwise, I think a Soler-Swihart framework is possible, but I think you'd need a high C/low B headed back in addition to Swihart imo. Red Sox fans may disagree.

No reason for BAL to deal a vet OF to get an older, worse vet OF. If BAL is in contention, then no way they deal Cruz. How is Cruz doing and how are the O's doing? It's really too early to rule teams out 2 months in, but if BAL is out of it near the ASB, which I doubt, then possibly Garcia + Reyes/Piscotty/Grichuk could work.

Cliff Lee to the Dodgers has been talked about ad naseum. Ditto for CarGo. I'd search the thread if I were you. Plenty of past convos on these guys.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I'm quickly approaching the trade deadline in my 2017 season with the Cubs, and it looks like I'll be a seller (yet again). Castro and Rizzo just haven't cut it for me, and I think both could use a change of scenery. I'm wondering what value each would have after 3+ seasons of stats.

Castro (88 OVR, B POT, if that matters) 26 years old (4th year of 6 year contract, $5.8M, $6.1M, $6.4M left)
              2014: .265 14/65
              2015: .284 10/57
              2016: .241 15/64
              2017: .255 9/38 in 243 ABs

Rizzo (83 OVR, B POT) 27 years old (4th year of 5 year contract, $764K for each season)
              2014: .277 22/82
              2015: .242 34/89
              2016: .251 15/69
              2017: .220 8/28 in 214 ABs

Neither player has missed significant time due to injury in any season, so those are all 600 AB stats. I don't know why they haven't produced the last two seasons as they're both rated well, but they aren't and I think it's time to move on.

So any thoughts on their values at this point is appreciated.

If that's the case, that's very interesting. Because I thought potentials changed based on performance. And his performance has been, well, sub-par. He's around the .210 mark after about 80 games.

Thanks. Baltimore is in last place currently with Miguel Gonzales and Ubaldo Jimenez currently with long term injuries. Cruz is hitting .260 with great production right now.

cpu on cpu violence that I actually thought was reasonable enough to not veto....have had cpu trades on auto in my chise since beginning of June (it's June 27 now) and these are the only ones I did not veto:

                            LAA deals RP Dane De La Rosa (74/C) + 3B Kaleb Cowart (59/low B) + 2B Taylor Lindsey (63/low B) to BAL for SP Chris Tillman (77/B) + RP Ryan Webb (72/C) + 3B Michael Almanzar (67/C)

MIL trades RP Tom Gorzelanny (69/C) to WAS for 3B Greg Dobbs (59/C)

FYI, the cpu CAN make ok deals, but it usually chooses not to.

If I'm the Mets what would it take to get Castro from the cubs? Cubs are dead last and moving everyone already.

Quite a bit most likely. The Cubs are stocked with young, talented position players. The only thing that I would see Castro moving for is some top pitching prospects. The likes of both Noah Syndergaard AND Rafael Montero might move Castro, but even that probably wouldn't get it, at least in my opinion.

I play as the Cubs and I can't see very many scenarios where I'm trading Castro right now.
